Chapter 303: C263
Prior to this, Tony had reviewed the Washington incident, the Hydra branch organization, and the nanoworm warhead used by Cobra.
These events inspired him to improve his armor.
This accelerated the process of Tony transitioning from using somatosensory controls for equipping remote-controlled armor to achieving direct human-armor integration, skipping the intermediate stage of further armor modification.
However, compared to the original storyline where Tony debuts the Nano Armor in the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, the nano armor he's showcasing now can only be considered a semi-finished product.
While the modified Arc Reactor allows him to suit up rapidly, the limitations of the era's technology restrict its full potential.
Tony has only managed to achieve quick deployment and limited nanotech weapon integration, such as lasers, bullets, and repulsor blasts—technologies that are widely known and relatively straightforward to implement.
For more advanced weaponry, like the Sidewinder missile, Tony still can't utilize nanotechnology for integration.
In other words, while Tony benefits from the convenience of the new armor, the range of his available weaponry has decreased.
However, it's worth noting that Tony's combat effectiveness hasn't suffered—in fact, it has significantly improved.
Although the nano armor doesn't allow him to rely on heavy firearms, it enables him to switch between various melee weapons, such as forming shields for defense or attacking with nano-formed throwing knives.
Additionally, inspired by Batman, Tony had begun martial arts training in recent months. Combined with his sharp intellect and access to advanced performance-enhancing drugs (thanks to his limitless resources), he's become noticeably more agile in a short period.
In summary, this darker, more hardened version of Tony has gained a tactical advantage in battle, allowing him to fight with greater confidence and control.
As a result, his fight against cyborg reached a stalemate. Unlike before, cyborg couldn't easily overpower Tony with superior abilities and was only barely able to maintain the upper hand.
The battle was fierce, and the surrounding Chitauri forces didn't dare approach the clash between the two.
The shockwaves from their attacks and defenses were powerful enough to obliterate a Chitauri soldier effortlessly.
Of course, while the duel between cyborg and Iron Man was the most visually striking, everyone knew it wouldn't determine the outcome of the overall battle.
From the public's perspective, the true turning point lay elsewhere: atop Stark Tower, near the blue beam of light connecting to the space portal, where Wonder Woman and Victor Doom faced off.
Doom struggled in Wonder Woman's grasp. The Tesseract was supplying energy to the space gate, but Doom couldn't draw on its infinite power.
Without the limitless energy he once had when defecting from the Pegasus Project base over a week ago, his current combat ability was far weaker than when he last faced his former allies.
Even with his superhuman powers to metallize and control electricity, he could barely last ten minutes against Wonder Woman.
Boom!
With a divine strike, Doom was sent flying. Wonder Woman shot after him like a cannonball, intercepting him mid-air.
She halted his momentum with a powerful kick, slamming him into the tarmac.
"Hey…" Doom coughed up blood, suffering from the direct blow. Even with his metalized body, the impact left him in agony.
"Hahahahaha!" Doom laughed maniacally, blood trickling from his mouth. Wonder Woman's foot pressed firmly against his chest, the tip of the God Killer sword poised inches from his eye.
One swift thrust would pierce his eyeball and drive straight into his brain. Not even his metallic body could withstand such a strike.
"Close the portal," Wonder Woman commanded. "Victor, you only have one chance."
"I can't!" Victor Doom cackled. "The Earth is finished!"
Boom!
Without hesitation, Wonder Woman drove the sword through Doom's head. His skull burst open, spraying red and white matter, but not a single drop touched her.
She remained expressionless, having fully anticipated his response.
Armed with all her knowledge and experience, she understood the situation perfectly. Her question had been a mere formality—a test to see if Victor Doom, the so-called Doctor Doom from the comics, might answer differently when faced with death.
But the outcome was exactly as she expected.
The Other Side
The apartment below the tarmac.
Batman, in Anton's avatar, was scanning for Loki's position after he'd turned invisible.
Loki prowled frantically around Anton, his footsteps utterly silent.
He gripped the psychic scepter tightly, poised to strike at any moment.
However, much to his shock, Anton's movements shifted in sync with his own, as though... he could see him.
Loki's brow furrowed, hesitation creeping in. His earlier confidence wavered.
"Had enough fun?"
Anton's voice was calm, his gaze locked on Loki despite his invisibility—specifically, on the spot by the apartment sofa.
"Your magic is impressive," Anton said coolly. "But if all you're doing is manipulating light refraction for invisibility, you'll never escape my sight."
The Eternal Heat Scan integrated into Batman's armor wasn't just for show.
Clearly, Loki had underestimated the power of Earth's technology.
While Thor might argue that magic is merely a form of advanced technology, Loki's arrogance wouldn't allow for such a comparison.
To him, Earth was a primitive backwater, and humans were mere mortals—servants of gods.
What could a servant possibly create?
A stone axe?
A wooden knife?
Even Earth's modern technology, in Loki's eyes, was just a small step beyond ancient farming tools. The gap between Asgard and Earth was unfathomable.
And now, to be mocked by a native?
Whoosh!
Loki's face twisted with fury. Humiliated by Anton's taunt, he fired an energy blast from his scepter.
Boom!
Anton countered with a laser, detonating the incoming blast mid-air. Flames erupted, and Loki's form shimmered into view, now several feet away. Anton's gaze snapped toward him instantly.
"Do you think you've won?" Loki sneered, pointing the Mind Scepter toward Manhattan. "Look at your world—it's already in ruins! New York is just the beginning. Soon, the whole planet will kneel before me!"
"You should be asking yourself that question," Anton shot back. "Loki, do you think you've won?"
Loki's smirk faltered, his confidence crumbling under Anton's unwavering composure. He couldn't fathom where this mortal was finding such audacity.
"The Chitauri will crush Earth," Loki spat.
Anton shook his head. "I thought you'd have something more interesting to say."
Loki let out a booming laugh. "Do you think your precious superheroes can stop them? They're barely holding on!"
"Is that so?" Anton replied calmly. "Maybe you should take another look."
Loki frowned, glancing over his shoulder instinctively.
Suddenly—
A massive green figure soared through the air, leaping over a building rooftop, crushing a Chitauri soldier in its hand.
Close behind, a humanoid lizard scrambled up the building, whipping its tail to obliterate another passing Chitauri.
Next to the lizard, a giant, human-shaped mouse—over a meter tall, though only a third the lizard's size—appeared. Even to the average person, its sheer size was startling.
The mouse moved with surprising agility, leaping off the rooftop, kicking a Chitauri soldier off his aircraft mid-flight.
Seizing control of the craft, it commandeered the energy gun and started blasting enemies out of the sky with expert precision.
Moments later, a flaming figure rocketed into the air, followed by a man in an odd battle suit, a hulking creature with stone-like muscles, and a fiery figure encased in an invisible force field.
But the most shocking of all was Harry.
Previously overlooked after his dark turn, Harry now faced off against an unexpected foe:
A man, gliding on a flying skateboard, clad in green armor, his appearance unmistakably goblin-like.
Anyone familiar with the scene would immediately recognize him.
It was none other than Batman's old nemesis—
The Green Goblin.
