Danmachi: Bell Gojo

Chapter 89: The final tune of the Biwa

Nakime's fingers danced across her biwa with desperate speed, each pluck sending the labyrinth into further chaos. Walls folded and unfolded like the pages of a book, platforms shattered and reformed in the blink of an eye, and shadowy hands emerged from every surface, clawing at the Slayers.

Despite the relentless assault, the Demon Slayers pressed on. Their resolve was unshakable, their determination fueled by the knowledge that Nakime was the key to dismantling Muzan's twisted empire.

"She's losing control," Muichiro said, his voice calm but sharp as a blade. "If we keep pressing, we can force her hand."

"Then let's end this now!" Sanemi roared, leaping from a crumbling platform and unleashing Wind Breathing: Third Form – Clean Storm Wind Tree. A torrent of slicing winds tore through the shadowy hands and shattered the walls ahead, creating an opening.

Mitsuri followed with a graceful sweep of her whip-like sword, using Love Breathing: Fifth Form – Swaying Love, Wildclaw. Her attacks were like a dancer's pirouette, each strike cutting deeper into Nakime's defenses.

From the other side, Tengen hurled explosives that illuminated the void, their brilliant flashes disrupting Nakime's focus. Obanai, ever precise, slithered through the chaos, his Serpent Breathing: Sixth Form – Twisting Serpent Slash carving a path toward Nakime's central platform.

Inosuke, wild and relentless, let out a guttural roar. "BIWA LADY, YOUR HEAD IS MINE!" He charged forward with Beast Breathing: Eighth Fang – Explosive Rush, smashing through walls and deflecting shadowy attacks with raw brute force.

Nakime, seated on her platform, narrowed her eyes. Despite her calm exterior, a flicker of fear crept into her gaze. "You're all so predictable," she murmured, plucking her biwa with renewed vigor.

The labyrinth surged violently, walls closing in, platforms spinning faster, and the void itself seeming to swallow the Slayers whole.

Genya, panting heavily, reloaded his shotgun and called out, "We've got to hit her together! She can't keep up if we attack at once!"

Sanemi nodded, gritting his teeth. "For once, the brat has a point. Everyone, focus on her!"

Muichiro used Mist Breathing: Fourth Form – Shifting Flow Slash to create a misty veil, obscuring their movements. Mitsuri followed with rapid strikes, her attacks graceful yet devastating. Tengen's explosives disoriented Nakime, while Obanai used the chaos to get closer, his blade slithering like a serpent.

Sanemi and Genya charged head-on, their combined strength forcing Nakime to divert her focus.

Inosuke, unrelenting, leaped from above, his dual blades aimed directly at Nakime. "TAKE THIS!" he bellowed.

Nakime, overwhelmed, plucked her biwa in a frantic attempt to warp the battlefield, but the Slayers were too fast. Obanai's blade struck first, slicing through her arm and forcing her to drop the biwa. The labyrinth shuddered, its movements slowing as her control faltered.

"Now!" Sanemi roared, leaping forward with Wind Breathing: Fifth Form – Cold Mountain Wind. His blade slashed through Nakime's neck, severing her head in a single, clean strike.

Nakime's body collapsed, her biwa falling silent. The labyrinth dissolved, the Slayers finding themselves back in the grand hall, its once chaotic structure now still and lifeless.

The Demon Slayers stood in silence, their breaths heavy, their bodies battered and bloodied. The tension in the air lingered, but the sight of Nakime's headless body brought a glimmer of relief.

"We… we did it," Mitsuri said, her voice trembling with exhaustion.

Sanemi grunted, wiping blood from his face. "One less demon to worry about."

Muichiro, ever composed, nodded. "Her death disrupts Muzan's control over the Infinity Castle. It's a step forward."

Inosuke, still pumped with adrenaline, let out a triumphant roar. "HAHA! I KNEW I'D GET HER HEAD!"

Tengen smirked, resting his dual blades on his shoulders. "Flashy as always, Inosuke."

Despite their victory, there was no time to celebrate. The Slayers knew the battle was far from over.

Meanwhile, in another part of the castle, Zenitsu sprinted through the endless halls, his heart pounding in his chest. The echoes of Nakime's biwa had faded, but his mind was consumed by a singular purpose.

Kaigaku.

The name burned in his thoughts like a curse. His former peer, the one who had betrayed the Demon Slayer Corps, had become a demon and ascended to the rank of Upper Moon Six. Kaigaku's betrayal had shattered their master, Jigoro Kuwajima, who had taken his own life in shame.

Zenitsu's fists clenched as he ran, his breathing ragged. "Kaigaku… you'll pay for what you've done. For Master's death… for betraying everything we stood for."

He skidded to a halt in a wide, open chamber. The air was thick with tension, the flickering torches casting eerie shadows on the stone walls.

At the center stood Kaigaku, his black-and-gold hair shimmering like a predator's coat. His smug grin widened as he saw Zenitsu.

"Well, well," Kaigaku drawled, his voice dripping with mockery. "If it isn't the little crybaby. Still clinging to Master's teachings?"

Zenitsu's eyes burned with fury, his body trembling with emotion. "You don't get to say his name," he spat, his hand gripping the hilt of his sword.

Kaigaku chuckled, unsheathing his own blade. "Oh, come on, Zenitsu. Don't be so dramatic. Master chose you as his successor, and look how weak you still are. Meanwhile, I've surpassed every limitation."

Zenitsu's breathing steadied as he assumed the stance for Thunder Breathing: First Form – Thunderclap and Flash. His voice was steady, a stark contrast to the storm raging within him. "You didn't surpass anything. You took the easy way out, Kaigaku. You abandoned everything Master taught us."

Kaigaku's grin faded, replaced by a sneer. "Let's see how long you can cling to those pathetic ideals."

The air crackled with electricity as the two former students faced off, their blades shimmering with opposing energies.

Zenitsu's determination burned brighter than ever. This wasn't just a fight. It was a reckoning.
