Cash Billionaire: My bad little wife

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: What if I was raped by those ugly old men

Vadal remained silent for a while, his eyes fixed on some point beyond Lira's shoulder. Then, he spoke, his voice low and even. "I asked one of my men to follow you and keep you safe," he said, his words dropping like stones into a still pond.

Lira's eyes widened in surprise, and she sat up, her hands on Vadal's chest. "You did?" she asked, her voice rising in surprise.

Vadal nodded, his eyes never leaving hers. "Yes, I did," he said. "When you entered that restaurant, he noticed that you were being followed and watched by some men. He reported to me immediately, and I came as soon as I could."

Lira's face was a picture of shock and amazement. "Why did you do that?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Vadal's eyes softened, and he reached out to brush a strand of hair behind Lira's ear. "Because I care about you, phoenix," he said, his voice low and husky. "I want to keep you safe, to protect you from harm. You're important to me, and I won't let anything happen to you."

Lira's heart skipped a beat at Vadal's words, and she felt a surge of emotion wash over her. She looked into his eyes, searching for answers, and what she saw there made her heart melt. She saw a deep concern, a genuine care for her well-being, and a determination to keep her safe.

"Why do you call me phoenix?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Vadal's eyes crinkled at the corners, and he smiled. "Because you're a fiery and beautiful creature, Lira," he said. "You're strong and fierce, and you light up the world around you. You're my phoenix, my fiery bird, and I'll do anything to keep you safe." Phoenix.

As Vadal called her "phoenix" again, Lira's mind flashed back to the past, when he had first given her that nickname. At the time, she hadn't liked him very much, and she had been resistant to the idea of being given a nickname by someone she didn't particularly care for. But despite her initial reservations, the nickname had stuck, and over time, she had grown to love it.

In fact, everyone around her had started calling her "phoenix", saying that it suited her perfectly. And Lira had to admit, she felt a sense of pride and identity when she was referred to by that name. It was as if the nickname had become a part of her, a symbol of her strength and resilience.

As she looked at Vadal now, she felt a surge of affection for him. She was grateful that he had given her the nickname, and that he still used it to refer to her. It was a reminder of their past, and of the way that their relationship had evolved over time.

"I'm glad you like the nickname," Vadal said, smiling at her. "I chose it because it seemed to fit you perfectly. You're a fiery and passionate person, Lira, and the phoenix is a symbol of that."

Lira smiled back at him, feeling a sense of connection and understanding. "I love it," she said. "And I'm glad you gave it to me. It's a reminder of our past and when we newly met, and of how far we've come."

Vadal's eyes softened, and he reached out to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm glad we've come this far, Lira," he said. "I don't know what I would do without you."

Lira's heart skipped a beat at his words, and she felt a sense of love and affection for him. She knew that she felt the same way, and that she couldn't imagine her life without him by her side.

Lira's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she asked, "When did you arrive when those bad guys were chasing after me?" She leaned in closer to Vadal, her voice barely above a whisper.

Vadal's expression remained calm as he replied, "When that fool pointed a gun at you and asked you to move." His eyes seemed to gleam with a hint of amusement, and Lira's heart skipped a beat as she realized that he had been watching her from the shadows.

Lira's eyes widened in surprise as she exclaimed, "So you saw everything that happened there!" She felt a shiver run down her spine as she thought about how Vadal had been observing her from afar.

Vadal nodded, his expression still calm and collected. But Lira's next question was laced with a hint of accusation. "But you didn't come out to save me immediately," she said, her voice pitifully weak.

Vadal's smile was enigmatic as he replied, "Yes, that's because I wanted to know what you can do with them." His words sent a surge of indignation through Lira, and she glared at him, her eyes flashing with anger.

She hit his chest lightly, her hand barely making contact with his skin. "You are heartless, watching me be taken away by them," she said, her voice trembling with emotion.

Vadal's smile grew wider, and he chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "If I am, I won't save you at all," he said, his voice low and husky. Lira's heart skipped a beat as she realized that Vadal was teasing her, but she couldn't help feeling a little hurt by his words.

She looked up at him, her eyes searching for answers, and Vadal's expression softened. He reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, his touch sending shivers down her spine. "I was testing you, phoenix," he said, his voice low and gentle. "I wanted to see if you could take care of yourself."

Lira's eyes narrowed, and she pouted, her lips pursed in a cute expression. "I don't need you to test me," she said, her voice still trembling with emotion. Vadal's smile grew wider, and he leaned in closer, his lips brushing against her ear. "I know you don't, phoenix," he whispered. "But I like to know that you can handle yourself in tough situations."

Lira's eyes locked onto Vadal's, her gaze piercing as she asked the questions that had been haunting her. "What if I was raped by those ugly old men? What will you do? Will you hate me, feel disgust, divorce me, not want to be with me anymore, will not love me and want to be with me?" Her voice was barely above a whisper, but the emotions behind her words were palpable.

Vadal's expression was unreadable, his face a mask of calmness. But as he stared at Lira, his eyes seemed to bore into her soul, as if searching for something. He remained silent, lost in thought, his mind racing with the possibilities.
