Chapter 5: The Last Hope
After struggling for a while, Hyuk finally managed to pry open the cell, revealing a rusten spot. He stepped out cautiously, his senses on alert, he paused to observe. The tubes were filled with a vibrant green liquid, and Hyuk could make out some strange, writhing creatures suspended within. He felt a sense of curiosity and unease, wondering what purpose these tubes served.
As Hyuk's gaze fell upon the file labeled "Experiment-032," a chill ran down his spine. A sense of dread and trepidation filled him, as he understood that he had stumbled upon something far more sinister than he could have imagined. With a mixture of curiosity and fear, he gingerly opened the file, bracing himself for whatever unnerving information lay within.
As Hyuk's eyes scanned the contents of the file, he managed to read a few ominous words and phrases. "Experiment 032...successful experiment of Project XYRON...Project XYRON-" But before he could delve further into the details, a sudden, sharp blow to the back of his head abruptly cut his reading short. Darkness enveloped him, and he lost consciousness once again.
Rim's heart raced as the creature emerged from the foggy shadows. Standing before him was a massive wolf, its body stretching to an impressive 20 feet in length and adorned with sharp claws and menacing fangs.
The animal's eyes burned a bright, luminous yellow, casting an eerie glow in the foggy environment. A long, sinewy tail swayed behind it, adding to its intimidating appearance. Rim couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation as the creature loomed before him, its presence dominating the surroundings.
Rim's initial sense of trepidation turned into outright fear as he beheld the towering wolf-like creature before him. His instincts kicked in and he found himself screaming, a guttural sound of primal terror.
Although he knew that screaming might not help, the overwhelming fear had taken over, and he couldn't hold back the visceral reaction. As he stared at the creature, a deeper realization set in - this was not a beast of natural origin.
Before Rim could even process what was happening, the creature lunged with a ferocity that took him off-guard. Its maw opened wide, revealing its sharpened fangs. In a single, vicious motion, it sunk its teeth into Rim's hand, tearing through flesh and bone with ease. Rim's scream pierced the air as he felt an intense, almost unbearable pain spread throughout his arm.
As the creature's fangs mercilessly tore through Rim's hand, the damage was severe.
His once-whole limb now hung limply, torn and mangled by the wolf-like creature's powerful bite. Blood gushed from the wound, staining the surrounding area as Rim gasped in agony.
As David regained consciousness, he found himself strapped to a surgical bed, unable to move. He was greeted by a dazzling array of lights above him, casting stark shadows across the room. In his dazed state, he noticed that someone was injecting something into his arms, and he could feel his body gradually becoming calm.
The mysterious substance and the disorienting environment began to take effect.
As consciousness began to slip away from David, he managed to recall the previous events. He and Luis had been exploring the basement, searching for the source of the strange sounds they heard. They stumbled upon the blood-stained cage, and just as they were inspecting it, the fearsome creature appeared out of nowhere.
In a desperate attempt to save Luis, David had pushed him into a corner, where he now remained alive. With this realization, David's thoughts turned to Rim. He knew that Rim was the first to enter the mansion, and thus he might be in grave danger.
David's thoughts turned to his fellow group members, Emon and Hyuk, whose safety he was concerned about. The blood found in the cage suggested that they might have encountered the dangerous creature while exploring the mansion.
Despite the unknown fate of Emon and Hyuk, David held onto the thought that they might still be alive and that Luis, as the only one left, was their last hope in escaping this sinister place.
As David's mind started to succumb to the effects of the drugs being administered to him, he found himself unable to continue his thoughts further. Darkness began to envelope him once again, and he slipped back into unconsciousness.
