Chapter 69: Chapter 69: The Spoils
Chapter 69: The Spoils
Holding the key in his hand, Mo Yu brushed the warm metal lock and turned his head to look at the Little Fairy Doctor, who had just finished gathering all the herbs. He smiled and said, "Come here quickly, or I might just keep everything for myself."
"I don't believe you would," she replied. Although she had only known Mo Yu for a day, she instinctively felt that he wasn't the selfish type. This trust made her feel strangely comfortable around him.
She placed the jade bottles containing the herbs on the stone table, reluctantly picking out six of them and handing them to Mo Yu. "We agreed to share everything equally, so I can't go back on my word."
Mo Yu glanced at the herbs briefly. Although they weren't of much use to him, he could see how sincere she was. So, he accepted the bottles and stored them in his ring.
Seeing this, the Little Fairy Doctor smiled as well. Mo Yu's generosity matched her own, and she wasn't someone who liked to take advantage of others.
After dividing the herbs, Mo Yu waved the three black keys in his hand and started opening the three stone boxes on the table.
As he tried each key in turn, a faint click echoed through the empty stone chamber, signaling that the lock had been undone.
"It's open!" The Little Fairy Doctor's face lit up with excitement, and she eagerly urged Mo Yu to continue.
Mo Yu looked into the opened box and pulled out an ancient, colorful scroll. "Here, this is for you," he said, handing it to the girl beside him.
"This is… the Seven-Colored Poison Manual?" she asked, her curiosity piqued. As she examined the scroll and read its description, a look of joy spread across her delicate face.
"Um, you can't take this from me," she said with a hint of sadness. "I can't become an alchemist due to my natural attributes, so I have to rely on things like this."
Mo Yu, understanding her situation, simply nodded and said, "I don't need it. You can keep it."
"Thank you." Relieved by his response, she gave him a grateful nod. After witnessing his strength, she knew he could easily claim all the treasures in the cave if he wanted to, but he hadn't shown any intention of doing so.
This thought made her glance at Mo Yu out of the corner of her eye. His deep, enigmatic eyes and chiseled features stood out in the dimly lit cave, giving off an aura that drew her in like a moth to a flame.
"Ahem, what are you looking at?" Mo Yu asked, noticing her gaze.
"Uh, nothing!" she stammered, snapping out of her thoughts. Her face flushed slightly as her heart began to race.
Mo Yu shook his head, puzzled. Her behavior reminded him of a young girl experiencing her first crush. But then he remembered that the Little Fairy Doctor, who would one day become the feared "Heavenly Poison Lady," shouldn't be so easily smitten.
However, Mo Yu had overlooked the fact that his Heavenly Thunder Body wasn't just a problem for him. It also made him incredibly attractive to women, especially those like the Little Fairy Doctor, who had a constitution of extreme Yin.
Returning his attention to the stone table, Mo Yu inserted the key into the second stone box and slowly opened it. The light from the moonstones in the chamber revealed the contents of the box.
"As expected," Mo Yu muttered with a slight smile as he saw a black scroll inside.
He reached in and pulled out the scroll, reading the small characters on its side: "Advanced Profound Level Flying Technique: Wings of the Eagle."
"Flying technique? What's that?" The Little Fairy Doctor blinked in confusion.
"It's a technique that allows a person to fly," Mo Yu explained.
"Flying? Isn't that something only Dou Spirit experts can barely do?" she asked in surprise. On the Dou Qi continent, only those at the level of Dou Spirit or higher could fly, and even then, only for short distances. Stronger experts like Dou Kings or Dou Emperors could use their Dou Qi to form wings, allowing them to soar freely.
Flying techniques were extremely rare. Even in his previous life, Mo Yu had never encountered one, as he had already reached the point where he could transcend the void and no longer needed to fly. That was why obtaining this advanced flying technique was a key objective for him.
After all, the situation in the Valley of Ten Thousand Beasts was still uncertain. Knowing how to fly would provide an added layer of security.
Holding the slightly heavy black scroll, Mo Yu looked at the Little Fairy Doctor and raised an eyebrow.
"I know, this one's yours, right?" she said, nodding without hesitation. "There's just one more box. Let's finish up and head back."
With the flying technique in hand, Mo Yu wasn't too interested in the third box. However, recalling that Xiao Yan hadn't obtained this particular box in the original story, Mo Yu's curiosity got the better of him. He opened it to see what was inside.
"Advanced Profound Level Combat Skill: Lion's Roar," he read aloud.
Seeing yet another combat skill, the Little Fairy Doctor pouted adorably. "Well, I have no use for this, so it's yours."
Mo Yu nodded and stored the scroll in his ring. The "Lion's Roar" was a skill designed to be used in conjunction with spear techniques. Although he had a matching Earth-level spear technique, it consumed too much Dou Qi, making the Lion's Roar a more practical option for him at the moment.
"Someone's coming!" Just as he put the scroll away, Mo Yu's spiritual sense detected movement outside, and a smile played at the corner of his lips.
"What?" The Little Fairy Doctor was startled. "That's impossible! Only the two of us know about this place!"
"Don't worry, I trust you. Leave everything to me," Mo Yu reassured her, patting her shoulder calmly.
His confidence helped dispel her anxiety, and she looked at him with a mix of admiration and bewilderment. Mo Yu was as enigmatic as a cloud of mist, impossible to fully grasp.
"Well, well, thank you for leading the way, Little Fairy Doctor!" A familiar voice echoed as a group of figures emerged from the darkness outside the door.
Seeing the leader of the group, the Little Fairy Doctor's eyes widened in shock.
"Muli!"
