Chapter 51: Astral's Rise Part 7: Twins
The three gods came down and looked at the crew. "Well, it looks like you did what you wanted. When the gauntlet starts, the others can spectate from up in space with it being magnified for them." The first god spoke
"When the gauntlet starts, you can receive no outside help but can communicate during the grace period." the second one continued on.
"Lastly, you have sixteen rounds in your gauntlet. Your three hour time starts now." the third god finished the message before all three went back up to space. Putting each person into a large bubble to mend themselves or pair them up.
Astral sat up. The ability was working and he saw four weird symbols. And put all of them into one. He felt a surge of relief fill his body. It was fixing itself. He laid back down and closed his eyes. Falling asleep quickly to rest. Anders wrote down the note. "James, Angel, how does your ability work?"
"Its quite simple to understand, everytime we hit something with a soul." Angel spoke
"Or take a hit ourselves, we gain a stack for our ability." James continued on,
"Which then we can place across four different categories." Angel added
"Increasing our aura, regeneration, speed or strength." James spoke on.
"That's how James lived so many close calls, he just out healed all the damage that could be done to him." Angel would finish talking before sitting down next to Anders. Jaimie sat next to Astral and held his hand as Adam worked with Astrid on drawing up a new eye lens cap. Zeta would watch all of this happen. James would release all of his stacks while laying down. They have a time of peace before an overwhelming storm.
Alexa looked over to the twins. Being super hung up on the fact that their planet was destroyed long ago. "Wait, James, Angel, you two are from Yrvirdo? The problem becomes that we haven't visited that planet in two universe cycles." Angel looked over with confusion. Not knowing on how to answer.
"Alexa play nice, these kids don't know much." Jaimie spoke. Watching Astrals breathing becoming smoother was a great sign for her. Anders looked at Astral and used a device to scan him. Almost all was well. But he needs rest for now.
Angel looked at the AI. "Well, yes, but what proof is there on us being from so long ago? Instead of whenever we were born."
"Drop it both of you, I think the gods pulled us forward for whatever reason if that is the case. Remember when we were grabbed it was after that fight we lost and were cornered down to our last gasp." James spoke. "Meaning either time wise no one knows us anymore or that something else is different."
"What about the possibility of Astral's essence sticking to one spot and location?" Adam handed Astrid her new lens and it fit like a glove. "If that is the case then it causes a lot more things to happen. Astral got around early on in his life. So these things could have spread far and wide, meaning there is more than just Ms. Suckoff over there inhaling his genes."
"Hey asshat catch!" Jaimie threw her gauntlet at him, knocking him over. The rest laughed a little bit as Astral got a slight smile on his face. It may not be his dream, but he will take whatever is thrown at him. This is his life now and he will enjoy it.
"So, James, Angel, are there other perks to your animal abilities? Or are they as useful as they look?" Alexa asked. Knowing that each person is different from their species.
"Well, for me, I have highly enhanced hearing, a large dilation of my pupils and my tail helps for keeping me steady when attacking." James spoke, "Another thing is along the lines of how I react to noise, it hurts when it's too loud, causing me to try and either lessen the noise or dampen it by earplugs." he scratched his head and pulled out the two plugs inside of his cat ears.
"I'm really frail. Being able to fly is nice, but my bone density is the equivalent of glass. Making me tend to be a very evasive fighter. Yes, I can heal myself, but often its at the end of a fight or after, so that way I can utilize my stacks for more evasion. The very limited number. Ice is another thing. If it gets too cold my wings do not like it. They don't have as much blood flow so it makes it much more difficult to move." Angel ranted on as Alexa typed something out to Anders, and both were wondering about the science of it.
"I hold no promises, but we may be able to slowly increase your bone density, causing there to be more blood and making you stronger. It can be a win-win for you." Alexa looked at a biometric chart of birds and their densities. How much muscle and energy it requires for her to realistically fly. "Looking at the data. We can make you a normal human density and have you gain no extra muscle, the drawback becomes you expending much more energy." Alexa showed two graphs to Angel, looking at it with a confused face, would be lost. "So we can make you stronger but just be tired more quickly. Or you can stay at where you are at."
"Ohhhh. Yeah I will take whatever to make my brother safe." She would look over to him as he is playing with his tail to keep himself occupied. "With you all around, I already feel like we are safer." Soft purring chirps were heard as she rests her head onto Anders, falling smoothly asleep. Jaimie looked over to Adam who would keep sketching concepts of the space station in the non summonable notepad he had.
After about two hours Astral would finally wake up. Everyone else, outside of Adam, around him sleeping. Looking over to Zeta he would walk over, letting go of Jaimie's hand. Looking upward to the pod and digital face of him. "You are special, feel free to ask me any questions. You deserve answers. You may be my war machine, but you are still an individual. Besides, you are going to see much more combat here in the next couple hours."
Zeta whirred to life, the digital display lighting up with x shaped eyes and a smile. "What made you make me? My sentience means that I know I will never be freed from your service. My nature feels like it is the right thing to do despite it being so wrong."
Astral smiled. "You are a cybernetic robot with only the best weapons ever made. I made you to be a toy, something for other use outside of just a giant robot for war." He hugged the creature. "The thing that makes you stay is the bond of loyalty you and I have and will build together. You are one of many pride and joys I have. You have every right to refuse me at any time." The robot would softly hold the man in its hand. "Trust me, it will be alright." Whirring in approval the eyes turned to hearts.
A couple of gods would descend. Looking apon the napping people they would look over to Astral and speak in unison loudly. "You have five minutes. Prepare wisely." The gods would fade back upwards to the sky to watch. Their voices startled everyone else to wake. Jaimie being the only one to spring to life into a fighting stance to protect the four as Adam and Astral would snicker as he drops Zeta into the pocket dimension.
