Chapter 11: Encyclopaedia of Magic
He had to kill the six goblins quickly, and he could see that behind this room was the boss monster's room. The huge doors at the end of the huge room were in front of his eyes.
The ice spell seemed to pause almost completely, the ice would no longer stop the goblins.
Atlas relieved himself and then charged forward. Without waiting, he ran towards the normal goblins.
Even if one of the goblin warriors tried to stop him, he immediately met the attack from the goblin with the knife in his hand and managed to avoid the attack.
With that, he directly attacked the goblins, who were left unprotected and were indeed trembling with fear. He killed four weak goblins within seconds and then turned to the remaining two.
He took a few steps back and then began to watch what was happening.
The goblin warriors were twice his size, almost four metres tall and broad of body. The axes in their hands and the armour on their bodies made them dangerous.
Atlas could try to use ice magic right now, but the room was too open, he really had nowhere to hide and it was impossible to find any cast time.
There was nothing he could do right now, except be aggressive.
Instantly, Atlas lunged forward. Without waiting, he chose the farthest goblin warrior instead of the one closest to him, and on the first chance he got, he landed a blow on the goblin's open area, the feet area.
"KIIEKKKK!!!"
The monster's scream echoed in the large room and the monster fell on one leg.
At that moment Atlas shuddered, and as if his life instinct had kicked in, he jumped over the goblin, who had fallen to one knee. Just then a crushing sound was heard behind him.
Atlas turned around to see what looked like the other goblin warrior had sliced the kneeling one's head in half.
"Poof..." Atlas took a deep breath and looked at the confused goblin warrior. Without waiting, he stepped on the back of the dead warrior on the ground and jumped directly onto the standing one.
Immediately he began to drive his blades into the warrior's back. In just a few seconds, he was the only one left alive in the room.
At that moment, the goblin sat on top of the warrior's body and managed to breathe properly, only to be met with several unexpected system windows.
[Frozen Floor (Normal/Active) is gained!]
[User has gained an active extra spell for the first time. The spells you gain through the use of the system will be added to the {Spell Encyclopaedia known as Encyclopaedia of Magic}. Spells added to the encyclopaedia can only be used by saying their name].
Atlas could only smile after reading the windows. If what he saw was true, he would be able to cast almost wordless spells with zero magic rings. He could become one of the youngest geniuses in history, even if it was a chance given to him by a god, it was still the truth.
Still, there was one thing he couldn't understand.
"When I used empowerment spells, why didn't any of them make it into the encyclopaedia?"
As soon as he questioned this, the answer had already come to him. Empowerment spells were already wordless spells, a simple empowerment of a person using only the spell in the mind.
Whatever it was, it gave him a distinct advantage, and the reason for that was precisely this. If what he was thinking was true, he could use a spell right now, and with it, he would be able to strengthen his encyclopaedia.
That's why he raised his hand high in the air and then used the most powerful spell he could use right now:
"Rise to sky feel the dawn, I ask the stars to fall upon my enemies. Starlight Fall."
As he uttered these words, an incredibly large puddle of mana dissipated from Atlas' heart and out of the palm of his hand.
The entire room shimmered with a clear white light. This ability, along with the third link and the huge mass of mana in Atlas' body, could be the most powerful ability he could use.
Starlight, which was especially strong against the [darkness] attribute, was usually used by those who worshipped Chaos-Borns, gods said to be descended from the blood of Chaos.
The reality, however, was of course very different. This ability was only used by those who worshipped the descendants of Nyx and Erebus. Worshippers of Aether, Moros, Nemesis, and the like.
[The Starlight Fall spell has been added to the {Spell Encyclopaedia}].
Part of Atlas' lip curled upwards as he realised his guess was correct. This thing...it was a trick. A complete and utter trick. He was actually going to be able to cast almost wordless magic with zero magic rings.
It made him think of the spells he could cast here and now. It looked like he'd be here for at least an hour or two.
-----
Exactly one hour and twelve minutes later, Atlas had finally managed to finish the basic spells that would not consume too much mana.
When he looked at the encyclopaedia in front of him, which looked like a book, he couldn't help smiling:
[Encyclopaedia of Magic
Fireball
Waterball
Earth Bullet
Air Bullet
Ice Bullet
Blood Bullet
Earthquake
Frozen Scythe
Fire Axe
1/19]
In such a short time he had managed to record almost nineteen pages of spells. The only reason he had chosen these spells was because their mana usage was quite low. Even if there were many more spells, he did not want to use up too much of the huge mass of mana around his heart.
After all, there were still dozens of treasures to find, even if not all of them were in dungeons, he had to survive, after all, he only had three months, at least before his sister returned. After leaving this village, he would head east and collect the four treasures there.
Then he would return to the village and head west to collect almost ten treasures.
The plan had to work perfectly.
