Chapter 54: Chapter 54 ⟴ A Vigilant Ichika
A cold mechanical voice echoed in his mind.
Daiki suddenly sensed a surge of powerful Cursed Energy within his body — a peak amount comparable to Ryōmen Sukuna, the King of Curses, **in his prime.
Even the small amount that leaked out was enough to make one's blood run cold. This was an amount of Cursed Energy that ordinary Jujutsu Sorcerers could never possess in their lifetime, yet he had achieved it by collecting just one of Sukuna's fingers.
Once he gathered the remaining fingers, his total Cursed Energy would surely surpass this strongest King of Curses of the millennium.
"I can see the rewards diminishing with each finger collected, and the next one will certainly yield less. Still, I'm confident that gathering all twenty fingers will reveal something extraordinary."
Daiki's attention turned to the second reward: Gun Construction, earned from collecting the Gun Devil's flesh fragments.
The Gun Devil was a powerful entity that drew its power from humanity's fear of firearms. Even its fallen flesh fragments could increase demonic power.
Like Sukuna's Fingers, these fragments were Special Grade Cursed Objects, though the energy they contained was far scarcer. These flesh fragments resembled bullet casings, falling off when the Devil fired due to extreme heat.
The reward — Gun Construction — allowed one to create guns and bullets using their own energy.
It reminded Daiki of Mai Zen'in, whom he'd met while saving Nino. Her Construction Innate Technique let her infuse Cursed Energy into weapons, though her limited energy meant she could only create one bullet per day.
Which technique was stronger remained unclear.
Daiki dismissed the comparison quickly. With his vast Cursed Energy, Mai would stand no chance.
What truly captured his attention was the reward for collecting the Zombie Devil's spirit.
Primal Fear — Decay!
"Primal" fears were those humans possessed from birth — instinctual terrors. To master such a fear meant standing at the pinnacle of Devils.
The Darkness Devil exemplified this power. In its normal state, it emanated an oppressive presence, but when it unleashed its full might, even the Control Devil Makima had no choice but to retreat.
Such was the ultimate power of Hell.
Through Gun Devil fragments and a single Sukuna's Finger, the Zombie Devil had touched this threshold of Primal Fear.
This development surprised Daiki. The chaos of this world held more mysteries than he'd anticipated.
Had he not mastered the Spirit Devouring Talent, he would have been forced to flee. One touch from the aura of Decay would have been enough to rot him completely.
"It's time for me to have a killing move."
Daiki raised his arm slowly and deliberately, summoning an ethereal gray aura that coiled around his limb like writhing mist. The sinister energy pulsed with an otherworldly rhythm, radiating waves of primal dread. Even the bravest hearts quaked as its oppressive presence whispered ancient warnings of decay and dissolution.
After putting away his Decay ability, he returned to the Yukinoshita family compound.
"While the Curtain is still up, let's quickly clean up this mess." He said, his soft words rippling outward.
All the Devil Hunters recruited by the Yukinoshita family sprang into action, their speed of movement lefting Mrs. Yukinoshita speechless.
Though her family had hired these Devil Hunters — ruthless individuals who had made contracts with Devils — they were hardly the obedient type. Even when paid, they would only follow orders reluctantly unless offered an excessive sum.
Yet these typically unruly people were completely docile before Daiki.
This sight truly opened the eyes of the elegant matriarch who managed the Yukinoshita family.
"Daiki-kun, I'm sorry, I didn't expect the Matsushita Group to be so ruthless." Haruno said with an apologetic expression.
Not only had they deployed all their assassins and firearms, but they had also positioned a Zombie Devil commanding an undead army at the rear.
Her humble, ingratiating manner reminded Daiki of their previous encounter. This young woman was clearly being intentional, hinting that she could compensate for his losses as she had before.
"I should be the one apologizing." Yukino said, her face full of guilt, "If I hadn't insisted so strongly, Daiki-kun wouldn't have risked coming here for the sake of our classmate relationship."
Though his presence had been secured through payment, today's events had truly frightened this sheltered young lady.
A hail of bullets had turned movie scenes into reality, complete with Zombies that continued standing even with their heads and hearts blown apart.
Despite her acknowledged beauty, she now realized that neither a pretty face nor figure could compare to the value of life itself.
"I should be the one apologizing! Please forgive my daughters, they meant no harm." The elegant Mrs. Yukinoshita said, bowing slightly.
Her magnificent figure, rivaling Haruno's, became immediately apparent.
Ichika, still shaken from the earlier battle, finally came to her senses. Her gaze fell unconsciously on the three women before her.
They represented three distinct stages of feminine allure: youthful cuteness, mature charm, and matronly elegance. Combined with Daiki's heroic rescue of their family...
Could they have ulterior motives?
It was well known that prominent families often secured talented individuals through marriage. If all three pursued him at once, Daiki would surely be… overwhelmed!
The vigilant Ichika, throwing caution to the wind, quietly grabbed his arm. A faint natural fragrance tickled her nose, making her cheeks flush red.
'Don't overthink it! I'm doing this entirely for Nino and Miku's sake! They'll definitely thank me when they find out!' She reassured herself.
"No need to be nervous — this is what I promised before." Daiki dismissed the matter casually, which visibly relieved the three Yukinoshita women.
"Then please, Daiki-kun, stay for the night and allow our family to fulfill our duties as hosts." Mrs. Yukinoshita's every gesture embodied the refinement of her prestigious family background.
But the more gracefully she acted, the more Ichika's heart sank!
"Yes, Daiki-kun, please stay here tonight. I recently met a Tōtsuki Elite Ten graduate! I can invite her to prepare a meal for you. I'm certain her cooking will meet your standards."
The Tōtsuki Culinary Academy dominated the culinary world. Its Elite Ten graduates had survived countless trials, and their culinary mastery could enchant even the most discriminating gourmets.
Ichika laughed to herself — wasn't this walking straight into their trap? Though she'd never met an Elite Ten graduate, she had complete faith in her brother-in-law's cooking.
"That would be fine." Daiki agreed, considering he would be alone if he returned home.
When no one was watching, Haruno seductively licked her lips.
"Then I'll join too!" Unable to prevent his stay, Ichika decided to insert herself into the situation.
"But of course." Mrs. Yukinoshita acknowledged with a slight, elegant nod.
