Zombie Train

Chapter 63: Chapter 59: Sneaking into the Airport

Wellington took the binoculars and examined the paint on the transport plane. "To be precise, those are air force personnel."

"But it seems your air force friends are blocking our path," Shao Ming replied.

Lambert tapped Wellington on the shoulder, indicating he wanted a look.

As he handed the binoculars to Lambert, Wellington said, "We can first enter the hangar. Under the cover of the hangar, we'll clear the mutants near the transport plane and then board the helicopter."

Wellington thought for a moment and continued, "The helicopter has been there for God knows how long. I need to bring over the refueling truck beside it. Conservatively estimated, it'll take half an hour."

"Half an hour?" Feng Yusheng, crouched behind the three of them, exclaimed. "That's quite a while."

"The fuel tank doesn't need to be filled to the brim. With a quick pre - flight check, it'll take at least ten minutes."

"I think ten minutes should be manageable," Shao Ming said after a moment of thought. "There's an off - road vehicle with a heavy machine gun beside the transport plane. It'll take some time for the zombies to rush out of the terminal building and cross the runway to reach the hangar."

"It's a balance between risk and gain," Lambert said, putting down the binoculars. "It seems that crossing the runway is just a matter of two or three minutes."

"Your task is to help me get the plane and adjust the tracks before dark today," Wellington said. "You can also choose to head into London City and see which room is hiding zombies."

Shao Ming didn't like either option.

Although it had been proven along the way that Wellington's words were true - most mutants had been attracted away, what if there were still mutants like those in the airport that hadn't left? With a helicopter, they could hover in the air and observe before taking action.

On the other hand, there were indeed a lot of mutants in the terminal building that were dormant. If any link went wrong, the four of them might not just be torn to pieces.

Shao Ming thought of the tragic situation at Manchester Airport railway station. It could be said that there was nothing left.

Seeing Shao Ming hesitate, Wellington said, "We can observe for a bit longer. I'll do the refueling and check together. It can be done in five minutes."

Shao Ming took back the binoculars and looked at it. "Is the refueling truck connected to the small plane on the left?"

In the binoculars, a Cessna 172 was parked beside the helicopter with a refueling truck attached to it. The two planes were not far apart.

"Can we directly fly to the Channel Tunnel?" Shao Ming asked.

"From the perspective of the flight distance, it's definitely possible," Wellington replied. "But we'll need more time to refuel."

Shao Ming glanced back at Feng Yusheng, who as usual said nothing.

Although he knew she would support whatever choice he made, he really was asking for her opinion sometimes.

"Let's give it a try," Shao Ming finally decided. "Even if we don't get the helicopter, there are several off - road vehicles with heavy machine gun."

The group left the small hill and walked towards the airport.

"Let's first observe the situation beside the transport plane later," Wellington said. "If there aren't many zombies, we'll try to deal with them with this."

As he spoke, he pulled out the dagger from his vest.

The three people behind nodded, two of them took out half - meter - long iron rods, and one took out the fire axe behind him.

"Uh..." Wellington put the dagger back and said, "If my 'air force friends' are a bit too many, we'll quickly fight and get the heavy machine gun."

The three people behind nodded.

"Who has the best shooting skills among you?" Wellington asked.

Feng Yusheng and Lambert both pointed to Shao Ming.

Shao Ming explained, "I just spent a lot of time in the shooting range."

"Okay," Wellington said. "Actually, I'm not much different."

On the way, Feng Yusheng picked up a rope from somewhere and put it around Gordon's neck.

The group of four people and the dog came to a road beside the highway that led directly to the Luton Airport gate.

In the direction of the airport, they saw hundreds of vehicles piled up there.

Shao Ming and Wellington observed for a while. Seeing no signs of mutants on the road, they led the way across the road.

After all four of them crossed the road, they started moving towards the hangar.

The wall of Luton Airport was different from that of Manchester Airport. It was surrounded by a two - or three - meter - high wire fence. The group easily climbed over into the airport. The large hangar blocked the view of the mutants in the terminal building.

"Okay, it should be in the hangar nearby," Wellington said in a low voice.

Wellington led the way to the back door of the hangar. He raised his pistol and pushed the door open a small gap.

After confirming it was safe, Wellington slowly entered the hangar.

Shao Ming followed closely behind Wellington. In the hangar, near the back door, there were many machines that Shao Ming couldn't name - probably for aircraft maintenance.

These machines blocked the view of the mutants outside the hangar. The two of them crouched behind the cover and carefully observed.

Shao Ming poked out half of his head. The C130 transport plane was right at the entrance of the hangar. Two Land Rover Defenders were parked behind the open cabin door of the transport plane.

One of the Defenders was a convertible model with a 7.62mm caliber M240 machine gun and a 12.7mm M2 machine gun installed on the front and top of the vehicle respectively. The other was a regular model without any weapon installed.

Because of the obstruction of the transport plane itself, Shao Ming hadn't seen the situation of the mutants near the transport plane just now. Now that he came behind the transport plane, he finally saw it clearly.

There were three mutants standing near the transport plane. Two of them were fully armed with weapons, and one seemed to be an officer.

Besides, there were a lot of dried blood in the cabin and on the off - road vehicle.

"Looks like your air force friends ate some of your air force friends," Shao Ming said, retracting his body.

Wellington said, "Three, not many. We can quickly deal with them."

Shao Ming looked at the nearly 50 - meter - long hangar. There was a long open space from where they were hiding to behind the transport plane.

"How do we get over there?" Shao Ming asked.

"Let them come over," Wellington said.

The two called the other two into the hangar. When Gordon's claws touched the ground, everyone's heart was in their throat.

Then, Wellington used the dagger to knock on the nearby scaffolding.

The sound from the scaffolding indeed woke up the mutants. The three of them walked towards the place where the four were hiding in confusion.

When the first mutant approached, Shao Ming jumped up and swung the fire axe in his hand down.

Then, Wellington also let out a loud shout and took out the dagger to stab at another mutant.

As for the farthest one, Feng Yusheng released the rope that was holding Gordon.
