Chapter 6: Logesh Greeneye
Takashi took his seat at the grand dining table, positioned near Logesh Greeneye, the head of the family.
"Oh, Takashi sir, did you have a wonderful night?" Logesh asked with a polite yet knowing smile.
"Uh… yes, yes, a very… good night," Takashi replied awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. His mind was still plagued by memories of last night's "nightmare."
Logesh smiled warmly, ignoring Takashi's discomfort. "Allow me to introduce you to my daughters."
Several women seated at the table turned their attention to Takashi as Logesh gestured toward each one.
"This is Rosary Greeneye," Logesh began, gesturing toward a stunning young woman with mesmerizing green eyes and flowing silver hair. Her figure was both elegant and alluring.
"Samantha Greeneye," he continued, pointing to a lively girl with big blue eyes and short green hair. Her athletic build was noticeable even in her seated position.
"Lucy Greeneye," Logesh added, indicating a mature woman with blonde hair and captivating yellow eyes. Her demeanor exuded confidence, and her curvaceous figure was undeniably "milfy."
"And of course," Logesh concluded with a chuckle, "you've already met Valentine Greeneye."
Takashi instinctively flinched, recalling last night's chaotic ordeal. Valentine, seated across the table, gave him a sly wink, causing him to avert his gaze.
"Please feel at home, Takashi sir," Logesh said warmly. "Now, let's enjoy the meal."
The dishes laid out before Takashi were exquisite. Though they seemed inspired by European cuisine, they tasted unfamiliar, as though created with a local twist. Takashi couldn't deny how delicious the food was, but the atmosphere kept him on edge.
As he ate, WoB suddenly spoke up in his mind. "Wait, Takashi—why does Rose have two names? Carolina Rose and Rose Greeneye?"
Takashi paused mid-bite. "How am I supposed to know? Let's ask her about it later," he replied internally.
The breakfast continued, and once Takashi had finished his meal, he politely waited for the others to finish. Logesh soon stood up, walked over to Takashi, and leaned down to whisper in his ear.
"We need to talk about… last night," Logesh murmured, his voice low and serious.
Takashi's eyes widened, and though his heart raced with anxiety, he gave a slow nod in agreement.
After breakfast, Takashi and Logesh strolled through the sprawling garden. The air was crisp, yet Takashi's heart pounded with anxiety. The events of the previous night haunted him, leaving him silent and tense.
"Easy, boy," WoB's voice echoed in his mind. "It's not your fault. The system is practically setting you up—playboy one day, straight-arrow hero the next. It all depends on its whim. Maybe priest, healer... Oh, speaking of priests and healers, don't go down the route of that anime… what was it? 'Redo of the Priest'? Oops, I meant 'Redo of teacher.' Whatever, just don't turn into that psychopathic main character."
"You sure know a lot about anime for a system. But I don't remember anything like 'Redo of the Priest,'" Takashi replied telepathically, trying to distract himself.
Logesh glanced back at him, interrupting his internal dialogue. "Sir Takashi, my apologies for making you walk so far. I hope you don't mind. There's something important I need to discuss about last night," he said, pausing to let his words sink in.
"Oh no, here it comes! He's going to kill me for sure!" Takashi thought, his anxiety spiking.
But Logesh's tone remained calm. "Yesterday, there was a dragon attack," he began.
Takashi blinked in confusion. "A… dragon?"
Logesh nodded gravely. "I know it might sound absurd to you, but it was real. Yesterday, we faced a creature like no other—a dragon."
"Thank you, gods, he's not bringing up the three-some nightmare," Takashi thought with immense relief, nodding in response to Logesh.
Logesh continued, "Dragons are supposed to be myths, creatures of legend. They don't exist in our world—or at least, that's what we've always believed. But now… we've seen otherwise."
"So, what exactly are you asking me?" Takashi asked, trying to sound composed. "Are you asking if I've encountered any dragons before?"
Logesh nodded. "Exactly. And beyond that, you're a Beast Tamer. Do you know how to slay it? Or perhaps even… tame it?"
Takashi scratched his chin, buying time. "Hmm… let me think," he said, trying to maintain his composure.
Suddenly, a system window popped up in front of him, interrupting his thoughts.
[4 New Quests Received]
"Oh, so many quests at once!" WoB exclaimed gleefully.
Takashi blinked, quickly refocusing on the present. "I'll need some time to think about it," he finally said to Logesh.
"Very well," Logesh replied, his voice patient. "But don't take too long. This could mean the survival of our family… and perhaps this kingdom."
After returning to his room, Takashi collapsed onto the bed. Staring at the ceiling for a moment, he sighed, then opened the system window to review his quests:
1. Quest - Create your own team (Optional)
2. Quest - Tame the Legendary Dragon
3. Quest - Explore the World Around You
4. Quest - Become a Powerful Being
"Hmm… WoB, what's the meaning of all this?" Takashi asked, frowning.
"I'm thinking the system believes you're capable of taming the dragon at your current stage. Or maybe it thinks the dragon might willingly accept you as its tamer," WoB replied.
"Willingly? A dragon? That doesn't make sense. And exploring? Becoming powerful? I don't get it," Takashi said, rubbing his temple.
"Well, smartass, that's why I'm here," WoB quipped. "First, find the dragon. If you think you can manage it without dying, then you can think about creating a team. Travel from place to place, and as for becoming powerful—just aim to be better than your current self. Most people can tame two or three beasts, but you… well, you don't know your full potential yet. You might want to ask someone for information."
"Alright, that makes sense… somewhat. Let's talk to Izanami," Takashi said thoughtfully.
"Dumbball owner! How the hell would she know? She used to be a beast herself!" WoB snapped back.
Before Takashi could reply, the door to his room creaked open. Pink entered quietly, bowing her head before starting to clean the room. Her demeanor was completely different—subdued and professional, unlike her fiery personality from the day before.
Takashi watched her for a moment, puzzled by the change. Something about it felt off.
"Pink?" Takashi called out.
"Yes, Master?" Pink replied softly, without even pausing in her work.
"Can you… help me with something? I need to know more about the common knowledge of this country," he said, watching her carefully.
Pink paused and bowed slightly. "Of course, Master. I can help with that." She moved to sit on the floor, preparing to begin her explanation.
"Wait," Takashi interrupted. "Sit here, on the bed beside me."
Pink blinked but nodded obediently. She moved to sit beside him on the bed, her posture straight and formal. Takashi didn't know why, but he felt an odd need to keep her close as she began her lecture.
After Pink's explanation, Takashi finally had a clear understanding of what he needed to do. Determined, he started preparing to leave the mansion and head to the Work Affair Office, a place that closely resembled what humans from Earth would call an Adventurer's Guild.
Just as he was stepping out, Pink stopped him. "Master, wait! You can't go out dressed like that. It could bring trouble," she said, gesturing toward his armor.
Takashi considered her words and thought of changing his armor's color. As if responding to his thoughts, his armor began to glow, bright light enveloping him. After a few moments, the heavy armor transformed into a sleek light armor set, completely changing its appearance.
Pink gasped in awe. "Wow, Master! Your armor set is amazing!"
Takashi smiled faintly, nodding. "Thanks for pointing that out. I appreciate your help."
"Wait!" Pink called out as Takashi turned to leave. "Let me come with you!"
Takashi hesitated for a moment before glancing around the room. His eyes landed on Izanami, who was asleep at the table. He walked over and gently shook her awake.
"Hey, wake up," he said softly.
Izanami stirred, rubbing her eyes groggily. "What is it, Takashi?"
"We're heading out. You're coming too," he said.
With that, Takashi, Pink, and Izanami left the mansion together, making their way to the Work Affair Office. The day's mission was about to begin.
After reaching the Work Affair Office, Takashi noticed that everyone was staring at Pink. Their eyes were filled with recognition and curiosity, as if she was someone of great renown. Pink, however, paid no attention to the looks and led the way to the reception area.
A cheerful girl at the desk greeted her warmly. "Welcome back, Miss Pink."
Pink waved her hand dismissively. "You don't have to welcome me. I'm not here for an adventure. I'm here for him," she said, pointing at Takashi. "I'd like to register him."
The receptionist's smile faltered for a moment before she nodded. "Oh, I see. It's a shame you're not returning to active adventuring. But let me see about him. Is he… a foreign human?"
"Yes, he is," Pink confirmed. "He's a guest of the noble Greeneye family."
The receptionist tilted her head. "Can you show me your visa card, sir?"
"Of course," Takashi said, handing over the card.
With that, the registration paperwork was quickly completed. As the receptionist processed the documents, she glanced back at Pink. "Does the gentleman plan to take on outside work as well?"
Pink turned to Takashi, her expression curious. "Master, do you want to hunt beasts too?"
"Of course," Takashi replied confidently.
The receptionist smiled politely. "Then you'll need to take a test, sir."
Pink nodded in understanding, and together with Takashi, Izanami, and the receptionist, they headed to an open training ground outside the building.
The air buzzed with anticipation as Takashi prepared for his first trial in this new world.
