Wizard: Starting as a Lord Marrying a Wife

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Encountering the Beast-Eared Girl

Thud. Thud. Thud.

David advanced steadily toward the defeated Viscount Eagle Wing, who scrambled backward, terror etched on his face.

The brief exchange had made it abundantly clear—he was no match for the Frost Wolf Duke.

"Viscount!"

The knights of Eagle Wing's battalion finally reacted. Four formally trained knights rushed toward David, swords aimed for his life.

Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!

Four crisp sounds of metal clashing echoed. David parried their strikes with ease, forcing all four knights to retreat.

Their faces were painted with shock.

None of them had expected the Frost Wolf Duke to be so powerful. Facing the simultaneous assault of four knights, he had effortlessly deflected them all.

"Everyone, attack together! Kill him!" roared the viscount in desperation.

But before his command could fully leave his lips, a flash of sword light sliced through the air, silencing him forever.

"That… is Dou Qi?"

The viscount's eyes widened in disbelief.

The realization hit him like a thunderclap—David was not just a formidable knight. He was an Earth Knight, wielding the coveted power of Dou Qi.

An Earth Knight at just eighteen years old?

He had no time to process the impossibility of it all. Regret flashed in his mind for a fleeting moment before darkness claimed him.

The four knights who had attacked David stood frozen, their faces pale.

The sudden appearance of Dou Qi left no doubt in their minds—David was far beyond their ability to confront.

Their only thought was to flee.

But as they turned to retreat, an icy chill enveloped them.

David took four precise steps, each one felling a knight. The four formally trained warriors were slain in the blink of an eye.

The remaining squires of Eagle Wing's battalion looked on in horror.

"An Earth Knight…"

They could hardly comprehend what they had just witnessed. An Earth Knight was a symbol of supreme power, a level of strength their fortress couldn't possibly withstand.

It was over.

The Eagle Wing family was finished.

"Gray Wolf King, order the pack to stand down," David commanded.

Through the Frost Wolf Contract, the Gray Wolf King understood his words. One commanding howl later, the wolves ceased their assault.

Despite the death of the viscount and the knights, the battle had lasted mere moments. The gray wolves and Eagle Wing knights had barely engaged before the fight was decisively ended.

Seeing the wolves retreat, the squires dropped their weapons, surrendering en masse.

Among them, many were former subjects of the Frost Wolf family. For these individuals, pledging loyalty to David felt natural, even welcome.

Soon, ten Frost Wolf knight squires and two officials from Frost Wolf Ridge arrived.

Seeing the slain viscount and knights, their eyes lit up with excitement. While they had believed in their lord's ability to reclaim Eagle Wing Fortress, they hadn't expected it to be so swift and decisive.

"Round up everyone from the Eagle Wing family," David ordered coolly.

The knight squires quickly obeyed, each leading ten gray wolves into the fortress to search for remaining family members.

Among the surrendered knights, those with Eagle Wing bloodline ties were promptly identified and brought forward.

"All of them… execute them," David ordered, his tone cold and unwavering.

In this world, the power of bloodlines was the foundation of aristocratic rule. To eradicate a bloodline family's influence, one had to eliminate all its descendants.

Though brutal, David carried no guilt.

Had the viscount succeeded in conquering Frost Wolf Ridge, he would have surely done the same to the Frost Wolf family.

The squires hesitated momentarily, until one stepped forward and delivered a swift execution. The others followed suit, steel meeting flesh in grim efficiency.

Satisfied, David assigned a squire to oversee the scene and turned toward the castle.

Inside the fortress, resistance persisted, but with the Eagle Wing knights dead, the remaining defenders stood no chance against the gray wolves.

David entered the castle to find the battle one-sided. It wasn't long before the fortress was firmly under his control.

That day, Eagle Wing Fortress ran red with blood.

David spared none who bore even a distant connection to the Eagle Wing family, ensuring no loose ends remained.

Reintegrating the fortress into Frost Wolf territory would be straightforward. The viscount's cruelty had made him widely despised, and the local populace would likely welcome the change in leadership.

Leaving the clean-up to his officials, David entered the castle to claim its spoils.

The treasury had already been opened, and the officials were cataloging its wealth, ready to transport it to Frost Wolf Ridge once the snow melted.

David proceeded to the viscount's study, his eyes scanning the rows of bookshelves.

"Books… Amy will enjoy these," he mused with a smile. Books were a rare and precious resource in this world, and the collection here was substantial.

He also found various antiques and paintings, which, while not to his taste, were worth taking back.

As he examined the room, his attention was drawn to a particular bookshelf. It seemed… hollow.

Extending a tendril of faint spiritual power, he confirmed his suspicion—a hidden space lay behind the shelf.

Unable to find a switch, he removed the books and punched through the shelf, revealing a secret passageway.

Activating his Frost Wolf Ice Armor, David cautiously entered the hidden corridor.

Descending into the depths, he reached a concealed chamber.

There, in a dimly lit corner, he saw her—a battered fox girl, huddled against the wall.

"A… beastkin?"

The thought flashed through his mind.

While this world was filled with extraordinary powers and magical creatures, he had never encountered a true beastkin. Only humanoid monsters existed in the wild.

And yet, here she was—a girl with fox ears and a tail, trembling in fear.

David's gaze lingered on her injuries, anger bubbling beneath his calm exterior.

He had heard rumors of the viscount's depravity. After losing his manhood in an accident, he had grown twisted and sadistic.

David cursed silently, stepping closer to the

fox girl.

Sensing his approach, she shrank further into herself, her tail curling around her battered form as if to shield her.
