Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: War (Part 4)

As the priest insect gave the command, two Mother Insect Guards rapidly approached Richard's position.

"Get ready; those two insects are on their way," Richard warned while adjusting his alchemical golem to guard mode.

Richard was quite satisfied with the effectiveness of the Annihilation Rounds. Although he hadn't intended to destroy the strategic weapon outright, its temporary disablement was a pleasant surprise.

Several black wizards, shielded by the surrounding slave army, stood prepared, their bodies radiating intense magical energy.

Two streaks of golden light flickered through the insect horde, reaching the front lines in an instant.

Clang!

Two golden blades slashed from either side towards Richard but were intercepted by his black greatsword.

"Ulysses!" Richard shouted, and the raven on his shoulder spat out two chains of flame.

As the Mother Insect Guards tried to retreat, Richard vanished, reappearing ten meters away. In his place, two black fireballs exploded violently.

Whoom...

The Hearts of Annihilation devoured the two Mother Insect Guards, nearly causing the surrounding black wizards' eyes to pop out in shock.

Richard hadn't used ordinary spells on the Mother Insect Guards before, so he was unaware. However, the black wizards had battled them and knew their elemental resistance was almost immune to any elemental damage below 300 energy levels, with higher-level spells causing only minor injuries.

Their ability to kill the Mother Insect Guards relied heavily on Ellie's curse fire.

But what kind of spell was Richard using? How did it so easily eliminate the Mother Insect Guards?

"Richard... is that the spell you've been working on?" Ellie asked, astonished.

She knew Richard had been improving the Annihilation Sphere and had made progress. However, without enemies in the residential layer, she hadn't witnessed the Heart of Annihilation's power.

Seeing it now, with her knowledge, she estimated the spell's power exceeded 1,500 energy levels.

"Yes, that's the Heart of Annihilation," Richard nodded calmly, shifting his focus to the priest insect.

He recognized this insect, wrapped in silk, as a spiritual evolutionist capable of primitive spellcasting. According to information from the communication crystal ball, these insects could harness a power called stellar energy for energy attacks and sealing techniques.

While Richard observed the priest insect, it was also scrutinizing him.

This black-robed insect, capable of annihilating two Mother Insect Guards with a single move, was clearly more powerful than appearances suggested.

"Stop these invaders! The Mother God Cannon must not be lost!" the priest insect commanded the surrounding forces.

With newfound direction, hundreds of warrior insects redirected their assault towards Richard's position.

Behind them, energy ripples emanated from the priest insects guarding the Mother God Cannon. In the eternal night sky of the Hive World, the stars shone brightly. Under the priest insects' guidance, these stars coalesced into a mass, then dispersed among the warrior insects, forming a layer of starlight armor on them.

"Mass buff incoming; prepare to advance! We need to take down that insect fast!" a battle-hardened black wizard shouted.

On the battlefield, any creature capable of providing mass buffs, regardless of the side, was a priority target.

Before the words were out, Richard and another physical evolutionist wizard collided with the insect tide, with the other black wizards immediately providing spell support.

Explosions, electric shocks, the smell of burning, and stench filled the air...

Charging at the forefront, Richard swung his greatsword, each strike finding its mark. Beside him, a black wizard transformed into a savage giant, his long hair fluttering, and a pair of rune-etched iron fists pulverizing the insects before him into bloody pulp.

Despite their efforts, the black wizard squad barely closed the distance to the Mother God Cannon. The starlight-armored warrior insects seemed endless; slaying one only brought two more forward.

"This won't work," a black wizard gritted his teeth, retrieving a purple soul crystal and stabbing it into his forehead.

Instantly, a powerful mental shockwave swept the battlefield, rendering hundreds of insects mindless, clearing Richard's path.

"Charge!"

The black wizard beside Richard roared, erupting in a blood mist, his speed surging.

In a blink, the savage giant reached the priest insect, his rune-covered fists aiming for its head.

"Fool!"

The priest insect shouted, summoning a starlight shield to withstand the giant wizard's fists.

In the next moment, a starlight spear emerged from the priest insect's forehead crystal, piercing the savage giant's skull.

Before the priest insect could gloat, Richard's greatsword appeared in its view.

For black wizards, the death of a comrade was no cause for hesitation.

Clang!

The starlight shield blocked the greatsword.

"You wretched worms, the Mother Insect God's divine armor can't be breached by the likes of you!"

The priest insect's forehead fired another light spear, but Richard sidestepped it, having anticipated the move.

"Ulysses, any way to break this?"

"Caw, merely a crude use of faith power, simple!"

Ulysses spat a flame. As the flame touched the starlight shield, it clung and quickly dimmed the shield's glow.

"Caw, done. Remember to save me a bite of this one."

"Impossible! The Mother Insect God's divine armor can't be destroyed by the likes of you!" the priest insect shrieked as its shield dimmed, its antennae standing straight in shock.

Seizing the opportunity, Richard's arm muscles bulged, mana surging into his right arm, forming a rune array in an instant.

He had learned this physical combat technique at the Garon Club, combining physical strength and runes. This punch packed 800 energy levels!

Boom!

With a dull thud, Richard's punch pierced the priest insect's starlight armor, shattering its head and splattering green ichor everywhere. As he retracted his fist, Richard casually stored the entire priest insect corpse.

This specimen was a prime research subject.

Richard then retrieved several Annihilation Grenades from his magic pouch, tossing them at the Mother God Cannon. Using shadow traversal, he blinked twice to join the other black wizards.

"Let's go! The strategic weapon is neutralized."

As he spoke, brilliant white light flared atop the Mother God Cannon, reducing the entire flesh heap to ash.

The black wizards, seeing the scene, wasted no time, immediately shifting towards other strategic weapons under the slave army's cover.

...

In the Floating City's command center, utilizing the observation devices aboard the war airships, dozens of commanders monitored the entire battlefield.

These commanders, all third-circle wizards, had participated in at least ten planar wars, boasting extensive combat experience.

Under their guidance, the white wizard army advanced smoothly.

At the center of them, a black-robed wizard leisurely sipped tea, standing out from the rest.

"Dean, War Airship 75 has sustained over 50% damage. The army commander is requesting a retreat," a commander reported to the black-robed wizard.

"Retreat at 50% damage?" Grand Wizard Black Tower set down his teacup. "This white wizard army commander is a bit too timid.

Tell him to hold until 70% damage before retreating."

"Yes, Dean."

Planar warfare was a battle of monarchs against monarchs, generals against generals. Especially for the wizards, Grand Wizards' power should not be deployed prematurely.

As invaders, Grand Wizards would face a world lord, empowered by the full might of their world's force. In this state, a world lord's strength could increase by nearly 50%.

No matter how clever wizards were, they had to tread carefully against such powerhouses.

"Dean, abnormal fluctuations detected," another commander reported. "Significant energy fluctuations have appeared behind the battlefield, indicative of a world lord's imminent arrival."

"Oh?" Black Tower stood. "What's the battlefield status?"

"The Black Crystal Insect horde has lost nearly four million insects, most being first-tier creatures, with over 95% as physical evolutionists."

Black Tower showed no reaction to the casualty report, continuing to inquire:

"And the strategic weapons?"

"Nearly 70% of the strategic weapons have been destroyed by the black wizards, with about one-fifth of our black wizards lost."

"That's sufficient," Black Tower snapped his fingers. "Tell our precious students to hide now; it's time for the monarchs to duel."

"Understood, Dean."

On the battlefield, all black wizards received retreat orders from the command center.

"All black wizards, heed the command. Strategic weapons are neutralized. Transition to stealth and await further orders from the command center!

Repeat, transition to stealth and await further orders from the command center!"

Hearing the command from the communication crystal ball, the black wizards advancing on strategic weapons began withdrawing from the battlefield.

The main battlefield was not the black wizards' strength. With orders to hide, no black wizard wished to continue fighting.

Currently, they were prime targets for the insect horde; a single first-circle black wizard could attract three to four Mother Insect Guards, plus auxiliary priest insects.

"Strategic weapons must be mostly destroyed; the remaining ones pose little threat to the war airships and the white wizard army."

Listening to the communication crystal ball, Richard speculated.

At this moment, only two black wizards remained by his side.

One was Ellie, the spell turret he had taken care of, and the other was the seasoned black wizard nearing his second-circle ascension.

This black wizard followed the necromancy path, with a deep understanding of shadow spells. In the eternal night of the Hive World, his abilities were significantly enhanced.

"Not necessarily," the veteran black wizard countered.

"Oh?" Richard raised an eyebrow. "Lawrence, what insights do you have?"

"Based on my experience from the last two wars, we're likely approaching the monarchs' duel phase."

"Monarchs' duel?"

"It's when the world lord battles the Grand Wizard."

As Lawrence spoke, the insect horde underwent a transformation.

A radiant figure flew in from the rear, and as it passed, all Black Crystal Insectoids knelt.
