Chapter 1: An introduction to Winx
Welcome to the WinxVerse, where magic is combined with science and technology, just like your wings can open and close a portal to different universes.
Currently, Winx is a power shaped in form of five elements:
- Fire/Dragon Flame
- Water/Morphix
- Air
- Earth
- Aether.
Winx started developing on people typically on puberty, thus they are called changelings, and they can become a witch but still be good and have rivalries with fairies. If a changeling attempts to suppress his/her powers, he/she will lose control of his/her Winx and wreak havoc around him/her. The danger sign of a changeling manifesting his/her Winx is the change of his/her eye colour:
- Fire - Red-
Water - Blue
- Air - Yellow
- Earth - Green
- Aether - Indigo
Any changeling who can manipulate all elements have medium grey eyes as Winx is a power which can be mastered with different elements. However, if Winx is manifested and manipulated well along with the certain conditions, it will change the appearance of a changeling, and their powers will be enhanced. Specialists are changelings whose Winx manifested are one of their own kind other than the main five elements. Except for fairies, mages and specialists, the changelings' powers and combat skills were described according to the decreasing intensity of their powers.
- Fireflies can control flames, heat and light and can suffer from spontaneous combustion disorder, a mental health ailment which cause a firefly to burst into flames unintentionally that can be treated with psychiatric medications like therapy. Their flesh can be carbonized if they overuse their powers even though they are immune to heat surrounding them. Their food is the Burned Ones, which are monsters created by the dragon flame that could deliver hot wounds and ignite them. Fireflies have healing powers because they can control the victims' body temperature by absorbing the heat from the body and similar to welding, they use harmless flames to mend organs. As most fireflies believe in peacemaking and diplomacy over waging war, they are conservative and they live in dessert realms, one of it is Velvaler. As their Winx is the strongest, fireflies tend to use their powers as support or defense and prefers the use of range weapons as they have the best shot accuracy. When cornered, they emphasize kicking as far as possible without compromising balance over hand techniques, like Taekwondo, Northern Shaolin martial arts, kickboxing and capoeira which sometimes their kicks can be engulfed in flames and serves as an escape propeller similar to a rocket engine. Fireflies' appearances are brown/hazel/light blue/green eyes with pale to light earthly complexions as they covered up their bodies to protect themselves from sandstorms with brown/ginger/blonde hair.
-Airangs can manipulate sound in their environment, which they are available to eavesdrop nearby conversations and amplify or mute existing sounds. They can manipulate winds and can create smokescreens out of thin air as escape techniques. Not only they are able to fly and are telekinetic, but they can also manipulate dust and blind their enemies. They can project their spirits out of their physical bodies as ghosts to cheat all the way during battle and still inflict physical damages. They have the most flexible bodies, fastest in running, highest in jumping and can perform advanced gymnastic feats. They can freeze without the use of water as they can only cool their surroundings. They tend to find inner peace and freedom within themselves, but the obsession with materialism can weaken their Winx. Their fighting style is based on Baguazhang and Aikido, where they can strangle people by removing oxygen from their lungs and use pushing as combat, along with their preferences of war fans, polearms like spears and staffs. They live in and near the mountains where air is most abundant, like Qishui and Gakugo. Airangs' appearances are dark brown/dark purple/black eyes, dark brown/black hair with lightly tanned skin with reddish to yellow complexion.
-Energyse can manipulate electric currents and lightning which can disrupt electronics. However, they can manipulate illumination but only can create holograms and life-like illusions, manipulate darkness and render themselves invisible. Other than the limited control of the visible light, they can control the entire spectrum of electromagnetic energy. They are both empaths and technopaths, tend to be sensitive or defensive when anything around them is affected. They can create and manipulate the fundamental forces of nature on their own will, like creating electromagnetic fields and manipulating the gravity of their surroundings. They were the first changelings to adopt technology along with their Winx and blend in with human cultures that they cannot be distinguishable with normal humans although they have dark-brown/ black hair and black eyes. Their tan to medium brown skin complexion is because they lived in places with enough sunlight that can generate enough solar energy to help with their living amenities, like Calcultta. Their fighting style is similar to boxing, Silat, Chaquan, Lethwei, Muay Thai, and Indian martial arts which places more emphasis on hand techniques, and weapon use is very rare and are not prefered.
-Waterers control and shape water and other liquids as they fight form. However, they can mesh liquids into solid, liquid and gas by manipulating their molecules, thus they have limited control on temperature. They only can generate water and its molecules out of thin air and control large bodies of water, like seas, oceans and lakes, one of it was the Andros. They can create and manipulate clouds and use clouds as cleaning tools and sponges, along with pure water harvesting. They can breathe underwater without drowning and can keep someone underwater for extended periods by creating a bubble of infinite oxygen around their face to allow them to breathe. They can withstand high pressures as they swim deeper. They are aided with the sun, which its heat allows water to vaporize and amplifies their Winx by redirection to the waterers, and moon, which controls the tides, aids them in creating water barriers to protect themselves and propels the watercraft. Waterers can create and shoot ice, freezing their targets, and their strong affinity of water bodies allowed them to walk or surf on water surfaces. Their fighting style is influenced by Taichiquan and fencing along with all African martial arts. Their weapon preference is short swords and daggers and they live near water bodies and have black hair with medium to darkest brown complexion and blue/green eyes.
- Terreans can manipulate and create plants and other natural materials, like sand, soil and rocks. They can communicate with animals and can possess animal-like features when overpowered with emotions. Their Winx intensity is the weakest, but they make it up with their brutal strength, endurance and their immunity against diseases and toxins. Terreans are egalitarian and they partake in hunting and gathering together. They cohabit with the carnivorous and omnivorous plants and animals. They are the most dangerous during the full moon where they became werebeasts, and tame during new moon. If any venomous animal attempts to bite or sting them, the venom will assimilate into and are stored in venom sacs that provide venom into their canines which will enhance their passive defense. Their venom is very acidic and lethal where it can corrode an object and make a sentient rabid and berserk until they succumb to the bites of the Terreans. They are most immune to and feed on scrapper centipedes which steal magic and Winx, and after eating the scrapper centipedes, they gained temporary Winx and magic stolen by them. They are immune to biohazards and diseases and live in forested realms like Amazon. Heavy melee weaponry is preferred but they use blowguns for hunting. Their fighting style resemble Hung Gar, Bak Mei, drunken boxing, Brazilian jujitsu, wrestling, and aboriginal/indigenous martial arts.
Any changeling can be a witch/wizard or sorcerer/sorceress, but not all are evil. In the Sarem realm, the ancestral wizards, witches, sorcerers and sorceresses live in harmony and do good. Witches and wizards in every winx forms do not to change outfits, while sorcerers and sorceresses fuses winx with magic.
Mages practice magic without changing into any winx form and have wings. They are discriminated in Solaria for being wingless and are treated as second-class citizens, while in other realms they are highly respected for their magical wisdom.
Fairies have wings when transformed into winx like forms like changelings, but they dubbed this as fairy forms. The term 'fairy' describes them as they have abnormally pale skin and light hair that reflect light. Magic is essential for every fairy and they carried bottle of fairy dust in case their magic is overpowered, but they cannot mimic elemental powers like the changelings. Fairies eat sweet foods and are invulnerable to sweet food-related diseases, because of the energy needed to generate and regenerate magic, and some fairies possess wands. They speak in fairy language and leaves, and they live in Solaria, where it is ruled by a king and is one of the few realms governed by absolute monarchy.. Their weakness is the brittleness of their wings. Extreme cold can make their wings broken while the harsh heat melts them. Fairy wings can absorb water which makes them heavy and unable to fly. If broken, fairies cannot fly and require more fairy dust to repair the damage. Their timekeeping consists of using gemstones as days, colours of rainbow as weekdays, and using sun and moon phases as months.
Except for fairies, changelings and mages have a limiter which is set by their bodies. Once the limiter is removed, winx and winx forms are boosted to its maximum power, but can drain the energy and strength of the changeling quickly. Every winx form guarantees change in outfits and hairstyles of a changeling, and has one or more requirements to earn each form, except for forms created by the Alfea University alumni.
Nymphs are a race of demigods and are personifications of seasons and natural elements. They can fly without wings and their powers is based on nature and healing. Sometimes, the idea of introducing magic or technology irks them as they are the guardians of nature in every climate.
