When I wasn’t looking

With out me asking, Aiden positioned himself next to the building on my right facing the woods. He pointed out towards the paths asking me questions. I guess just to kill time while we wait for the girls to come out in their wolf from.

" Those trails do they circle around and lead back here?" He ask trying his best to sound nonchalant and lead me into a conversation so that we weren't just staring into the woods silently .

" Yeah, but if you're up to a little sightseeing you and Jaylee can follow us. I'm going to show Andie a couple of cool places that's not too far away." I answered without thinking about what I was saying,which could have leaded to a fight.

I wasn't used to being around other Alphas all the time and even though the younger generation is more relaxed we're still Alpha males through and through.

However Aiden didn't even grimace or take offense that I suggested for him to follow, you see no Alpha wolf takes it lightly to look at another wolves tail. His head slightly twiched nonchalantly replying "Sounds good, what's out there?" He asked, sounding genuinely curious. And totally relaxed. Unlike other Young Alphas who might have bucked at the suggestion to follow another Alpha.

Most of the time they find it difficult to look at another wolf's tail, causing their fur to ruffle. It's in our blood to lead not follow, Aiden's nonchalant behavior spoke volumes in its self, telling me he has absolute control over his wolf an impressive trait for an Alpha male his age.

Keeping the conversation light and casual I pointed out to one of the trails on our far right explaining the layout of the woods a little bit "Up that path a little ways there's a small lake that's fed by a waterfall and a couple of cool caves with natural formations in them. One of the caves has a natural hot water spring in it making it a great natural hot tub in the winter."

" That sounds good, I think we'll follow you. My wolf will be excited to see all that natural water." He grinned, surprising me to my bones,so much that I even leaned a bit closer so that I could get a better read on his aura.

And to tell the truth that confused me even more. I expected a young week Alpha that wouldn't be able to lead a pack until he turned forty. However that's not what happened,this guy radiated confidence and power giving me the impression that he didn't give a fuck about what anyone else thinks. My kinda friend, I grinned back at his young Texas ass explaining the importance of a hot water spring in Alaska.

"It's a good thing to have something like that up here in Alaska it gives you somewhere to relax after you let your wolf run without coming all the way back to the pack house. This time of the year is the only time you can swim in the lake. Most other times it's either frozen or too cold, you'll freeze your balls off."

Aiden laughed adjusting his crotch area a bit ." Sounds cool man, but I'm not real sure about swimming in the lake. I'd like to keep my balls."

Aiden seems really laid back and fun with a good sense of humor a great asset to have as a Pack leader.

I chuckled " I'm sure you'll be fine this time of year, there's swim trunks in a barrel beside the lake they should keep your balls in place."

I glanced over at his stance examining his expression for a moment. He looked relaxed and confident in himself as he causally leaned against the wall with his legs crossed at his ankles.

He shrugged and replied " So, I guess modesty is normal for your pack."

" Yeah pretty much, at least with the the pups around. You never know when someone might bring their family out for a picnic or for an afternoon swim. Now at night it's a different story the people with families stay home leaving the lake open to whoever wants to take a dip without any clothes on."

He nodded looking composed and unfazed by what I just said. Which I was a bit surprised by, most packs never restricted nudity. It's just considered normal for werewolves because when you shift you take off your clothes or rip them to shreds. Therefore when you shift back you're always naked.

"Seems reasonable." He murmured,"I'll make sure to cover myself. We try to be a bit more modest around the pups in our pack too. We just look at it as a way to make the little ones understand that it's not always appropriate to take your clothes off in public. You don't want them to just peel off their clothes and jump into the fountain at the mall in downtown Dallas."

Before I could comment on what Aiden just said I felt a nudge on my leg from behind me. I glanced down and see a big solid white Alpha female wolf with electric blue eyes standing behind behind me. Fucking beautiful, which didn't surprise me.

I have always been told a werewolves wolf is a reflection of their soul. However what did surprise me was the size of her wolf. She's huge, almost as tall as Apollo. With long muscular legs, a thick neck and a beautiful shiny white coat. I stood frozen in place gawking in wonderment for a few seconds. Until Apollo suddenly jumped and I began to shift uncontrollably.

"Stop" I growled at his fucking ass. He whimpered and sit back on his hunches.

I took that opportunity to wave at Aiden to follow me inside the shed." Let go ahead and change." I murmured stepping around the smaller fawn colored wolf to get inside the door.

When Aiden stepped between the two female wolves Apollo putter a deep rumbling growl that I suppressed before anyone one else could hear it. I knew right then and there I needed to have a little chat with Apollo's ass before I shift.

" Look I know you're excited to see your mate, but you need to fucking chill out .You can't get all worked up and run off into the woods with her. And don't even think about trying to play that dominance bullshit with Aiden's wolf. Just keep your mind on your mate and let him play with that little brown wolf."I reasoned with his damn aggressive ass before stripping down and shifting.

Aiden didn't waste anytime yanking his clothes off before shifting into his wolf form . Aiden's wolf is a huge gray Alpha almost as big as Apollo well behaved not showing any aggressive behavior towards my wolf.

Which in its self told me this boys no joke, at sixteen he has complete control over a huge Alpha wolf. He's going to be a powerful Alpha and could possibly be leading his Pack with in a few years.

I made a mental note to myself to put fourth a bit of effort to make sure Aiden becomes one of my strongest allies in the future.

The more powerful allies an Alpha has the better, you never know who or when someone might reach for what's yours. Having strong and confident allies by your side is always a plus.

Sometimes Alpha's can be so prideful and petty that they can't stand the fact someone is doing better than they are.

The envey and jealousy can become consuming for some. This leads to all types of schemes and plots in the shadows to bring a powerful Alpha down. To turn his Pack against him to weaken and destroy what the more powerful Alpha works hard to protect and maintain.

At this moment in time my dad is the strongest Alpha among all the packs, and of course he has strong allies.

Among those is Alpha Lucius and now that Andie is my mate I know he will continue to be my Allie . However I can't be so sure that all my dad's allies will continue to support me. Therefore I need to make my own connections and build my own support team.

" I'm not worried about that boy, let's go already. My darling Roxy is waiting for me." Apollo grumbled making his way out the door.

Aiden's wolf waited until we got through the door before joining us in front of the shed. I held Apollo back for a second then let him dash into the woods. Four sets of paws hitting the forest floor in a slow easy run. Before Apollo picked up speed I reminded him again about the smaller brown wolf that was important to my mate.

" Go slow old guy, the little female beta is my girls best friend. You run off and leave her and it's your ass. Go straight to the pond, and no detour with Andie's wolf."

"Leave me alone, I'm trying to talk to Roxy." His old ass growled in my head.

We ran for about twenty yards into the woods when suddenly Apollo slide to a halt, tail tucked, dirt and leaves flying into the air. A low rumbling growl puttering from deep in his chest. Andie's wolf hunched low sliding on the wet leaves right beside him. And a second later Aiden's wolf got into formation beside Apollo with a long rumbling growl.

Realizing we couldn't use a pack link to communicate because we were all from different packs. I glanced around to find a clothes barrel close bye and lead everyone in that direction before shifting back into my human form with Aiden and the girls following right behind me.

Pulling Andie behind me I reached into the barrel and pulled out one of the neatly tied bundles, grateful for the color coded strings tying them together. An idea my mom had to keep everything neat and organized according to size.

I passed Andie the bundle over my shoulder before pointing into the barrel and explaining " Grab a sweet suite the black string is XLarge, blue large, green medium, white small." I grabbed a blue bundle for my self pulling it on quickly before turning to the group so I could explain what happened.

" My wolf detected an unrecognizable human scent on the trail. We only have one human in the pack she's a school teacher that is mated to our principal at the high school. The scent was human male possibly four of them. I've already contacted our patrol units and they are on the way out here. It's not uncommon for humans to wonder into our pack grounds while hunting and hiking. But to be safe we need to head back to the pack house in human form and let the patrol unit check it out."

Aiden gave me a nod and ask " Did you recognize the wolf scent that was mixed in with the human scent?"

I shook my head " No, but that doesn't mean they aren't from my pack we have a lot of pack members. I haven't personally met all of them yet. I can only recognize the scent of the people I have grown up around. Right now I can't even try getting into a closed link to try communicating with that wolf because my dad's still Alph."

Aiden sighed, but grinned " Okay, let's head back. I guess you need to talk to your dad about this."

" Yep, I apologize for cutting our run short." I said grabbing Andie's hand pulling her along with me down the trail back to the pack house.

Aiden and Jaylee followed close behind silently all of us on alert. I glanced over my shoulder at Aiden to get a read on his actions he gave me a reassuring grin " I got your back man."

With that I turned back to trail in front of me focusing on the surround forest for anything unusual.
