Chapter 57: Depart
The next morning, Rimuru stood at the edge of the Goblin village, arms crossed as he watched the results of his naming efforts. The once frail and timid Goblins had evolved into Hobgoblins, each of them now standing taller, their bodies bulkier and radiating newfound strength. Their appearances varied, some looking rugged and battle-ready while others appeared more refined, hinting at unique talents waiting to be discovered.
The direwolves, too, had undergone a dramatic transformation. They had grown larger, sleeker, and more fearsome, with radiant blue markings along their fur that glowed faintly with magicule energy. Ranga, the largest of them, now stood even taller than Rimuru in his human form. His majestic mane and sharp claws made him look like a true alpha.
Rigurd, however, stood out the most. He had transformed into a younger, muscular version of himself with a perfectly chiseled body. As Rimuru approached, he found Rigurd striking poses and flexing at every possible moment, much to the amusement of the other villagers.
"Ah, Rimuru-sama!" Rigurd exclaimed, showing off his biceps. "How do you like my new form? Truly magnificent, is it not?"
Rimuru sighed, waving a hand. "Yeah, yeah, you're impressive, Rigurd. But you're supposed to be leading the village, not holding a posing competition."
Rigurd bowed quickly, his face earnest despite his vain behavior. "Of course, Rimuru-sama! I will lead with honor and strength!"
The other Hobgoblins chuckled softly, one whispering, "He's been flexing all morning. I think he's addicted."
Rimuru smiled but decided to get back on track. "Alright, everyone, now that we've evolved, there's a lot of work to do. We need to build this village up into something sustainable. I'm counting on all of you to work together and make it happen."
"Yes, Rimuru-sama!" they all shouted in unison, their voices filled with respect and determination.
Rimuru glanced at Ranga, who was now standing proudly beside him, his glowing blue eyes locked on Rimuru. "Ranga, you'll be coming with me. The rest of you will stay here and follow Rigurd's orders. Any questions?"
One of the newly evolved Hobgoblins raised his hand timidly. "Rimuru-sama, where are you going? Is it dangerous?"
Rimuru nodded. "I'm heading to the Ogre village to recruit more members for our growing community. The Ogres are strong and intelligent, and if we can get them to join us, it'll be a huge step forward for everyone here."
Another Hobgoblin spoke up nervously. "Will you be alright on your own? Maybe we should send a few of us with you."
Rimuru raised a hand, silencing the growing murmurs. "I appreciate the concern, but I'll be fine. I have Ranga with me, and trust me, I'm stronger than I look. Besides, I need all of you to focus on rebuilding the village. Rigurd, I've given you the knowledge to start construction, so lead them well."
Rigurd thumped his chest proudly. "You can count on me, Rimuru-sama! This village will be unrecognizable by the time you return!"
Rimuru smiled at the enthusiasm. "Good. Keep everyone organized and make sure to support each other. Remember the rules: work together, respect each other, and don't go picking fights with humans or other monsters. We're building something special here."
"Yes, Rimuru-sama!" the crowd roared, their confidence bolstered by his words.
As Rimuru turned to leave, one of the younger Hobgoblins stepped forward hesitantly. "Rimuru-sama… thank you for giving us a chance to become stronger. We won't let you down."
Rimuru paused and gave a warm smile. "You're welcome. But remember, strength isn't just about power—it's about protecting those who can't protect themselves. So take care of each other while I'm gone."
With that, Rimuru climbed onto Ranga's back, the massive Tempest Wolf lowering himself slightly to allow his master to settle comfortably. He waved goodbye to the villagers, who cheered and shouted their well-wishes as he rode off into the forest.
As they disappeared into the dense greenery, Rigurd turned to the rest of the villagers, still flexing slightly as he barked orders. "Alright, everyone! Let's show Rimuru-sama what we're capable of! Get to work!"
Back on the road, Rimuru patted Ranga's side. "Alright, buddy. Let's go make some new friends. Think the Ogres will be as cooperative as the Goblins?"
Ranga let out a low, rumbling chuckle. "If they aren't, Rimuru-sama, we'll show them your strength. They'll bow to you in no time."
Rimuru smirked. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that. But if it does… I'm ready."
With that, they continued their journey toward the Ogre village, Rimuru's mind racing with possibilities for the future.
