What's wrong with me?

Chapter 27: CHAPTER 26

Patrick and Dorin were sitting at the table for breakfast, while Annabelle was sent to get Derek from his room. They were able to build a house at the same place, in case Trinity ever needed to return.

"What's wrong? You haven't touched your sandwich," Patrick asked his wife, as he finished drinking his juice.

"I don't know Pat... I just feel like my hearts heavy," Dorin sighed.

"It's about Trinity, isn't it?." Patrick knew this sign; whenever Trinity was in trouble, or her life in danger, Dorin felt this way.

"I just wish I could see her and hug her..." Tears were streaming down her eyes, as she continued, "Eversince she's told me about the passing of her father, I've been worried... she's in a world that's totally new to her, and if anything...." she couldn't complete her sentence.

"She's a strong willed young woman, and a fighter. And I know she is just like her mom; intelligent," Patrick said holding his wife's hand to comfort her.

Dorin smiled slightly, thankful for the encouraging words. As she dried her eyes, Derek entered, and the doorbell rang.

"I'll go check..." Dorin said, getting up.

Opening the door, she was surprised as a, "Hey mom." was said.

She just stood there unable to say or do anything, as the tears she'd forced to stop flowed freely again. "Rin? Is it really you?" She finally whispered.

"Mom." They hugged each other tightly, as they both cried, not knowing what to say. So much had happened in this past few months, and it seemed like years had passed.

"Who is it, honey?" Patrick asked, as he walked into view. His eyes opened wide as he stared at the girl he had bought up like his own child. "Trin? Wh... I...How are you?" he managed to finally ask.

"I'm good, how are you?" the brown eyed girl said, finally releasing the hug.

"Trin? OMG! it's you!" came an exciting scream from behind the short man, as Derek ran to his sister and embraced her in a bear hug. "And who are they? Your friends?"

This question made Trinity realize that she wasn't alone, and she quickly apologized to her friends. "Sorry guys. This is my family, and..." "Dr Elise? You're a ...." her mother asked. "And Martha? you're also a.... And this must be Tyrone..." She turned to look at a guy with ash blonde hair and beautiful amber eyes.

"It's nice to meet you Mr and Mrs Croven," Tyrone said, giving out his hand, which was taken by a much younger hand.

"You must be my sisters' boyfriend. Just so you know, if you ever hurt her..." "Ok, that's enough young man. Go finish your sandwich," the blonde woman quickly chimed in. "Sorry about that," she said to Tyrone.

"It's OK."

"But mom...."

"Now! And you all come in please. I really apologize for the delay."

"Mom, she's Stacey, my friend and these are Tyrones' cousins, Emeralda and Esmarald," Trinity said continuing, "And these three are humans, who need urgent medical care."

Dorin looked at three people, held by the twins and Martha, who seemed to be passed out, and said, "Bring them into my study. Follow me."

They entered a large room with a large table and a set of long benches. Annabelle quickly bought in clean sheets and pillows and helped Dorin spread it on the bench to make three beds, and both doctors set on treating the patients, while the others had some sandwiches which Martha helped to prepare and talked casually.

"So... how did you two meet?" Patrick asked Tyrone.

"Well... it was at my mom's place when Triyast and Trinity had stopped to rest," Tyrone replied awkwardly.

They were sitting on the sofa, waiting for Dr Dorin and Dr Elise to return. Tyrone had never spoken to a human before and felt a little uneasy.

"Are you really a dragon?" Derek chimed in.

"Yeah."

"Do you also breath out fire like Trin?"

"No not really. I'm a water dragon."

"Can you sing?"

"I never tried."

"Ok Derek, that's enough. Don't you have to get ready for school?" Patrick asked.

"Can't I just skip school today?"

"Skip? School? You know the rules; unless you're dying, you cannot stay home."

"Daaaaadddd?"

"I'm not going to repeat myself."

Derek grumbled as he made his way upstairs to his room. He got ready and slowly came down, just as Dorin came in the living room.

"Rin, I need to know what exactly happened to them!," she said as Derek made a plan on how to stay home.

As Trinity explained to her mom, Derek screamed, driving everyone's attention to him.

"What happened honey?" Patrick and Dorin ran to him, and saw him laying on the stairs, head downwards and leg up.

"I fell, and I think I twisted my ankle..." Derek said pretending to sob.

"It's a good thing that we have not one but two doctors in the house than," Patrick said smiling.

"Mom, please...."

"Um... Patrick... dad... " Trinity began.

"Ok. He can stay."

"Really? Thanks," Derek said as he got up.

"I thought you had 'twisted your ankle'," Trinity teased.

"It's all better now." Everyone laughed, just as the short man's phone rang.

"Yes Abell?...." He said, walking outside.

"Mrs Croven, how are they?" Tyrone asked.

"Oh, please call me Dorin. They are stable, but it'll take time for them to heal. The burns caused blood loss, and it is very deep. I've given them some anesthesia, so they can sleep. Trinity, we need to talk," Dorin looked at her daughter.

"Yeah, what's up?"

"I'll go check if the others are comfortable," Tyrone quickly excused himself and left.

Before Dorin could begin, the doorbell rang.

Annabelle opened the door and an old lady walked in, smiling. She looked like the older version of Dorin, same eyes, same hair, same face.

"Grams," Derek screamed and ran to meet her.

Trinity, hearing her brother, went towards the door. "Granny," she said as she hugged the old woman.

"Oh sweetheart, how are you?" their grandma asked them, handing them their favorite home baked chocolate brownies.

"I'm good. How have you been?"

"I'm healthy as a sixteen year old," the old woman said laughing.

"Mom, you're here!" Dorin said.

Derek snatched the box of goodies and ran off, as the three ladies made their way to the guest room.

***

Stacey was sitting on the sofa, talking with Martha and Dr Elise, the twins were looking at some photo on the wall, and Derek was munching on the brownies.

Martha, seeing the tension on Tyrones' face, asked him, "Where's Trinity?".

"With her mom; talking."

This was the first time in years since Martha had come to this house. She could tell that it was newly built, but Patrick had done a good job of making it almost exactly like their old house; even using the same location.

This was the first time the three young dragons stepped out of the castle, as Stacey, Esmarald and Emeralda were born within the castle walls, and Tyrone had only came out when he had to visit his mother. Even than, he always maintained a low profile, only stopping if he needed to eat or use the restroom.

As for Dr Elise, she was used to interacting with humans, as she had to go on medical conferences and attend seminars. It was in one of these that she'd met Dorin.

"So, what now?" Stacey asked. "What's the plan?"

"We wait until the humans recover. Then I go to see Mr King," replied Tyrone.

"But the Dragon Lord will come looking for us. He'll burn down everything that stands in his way," Dr Elise said, her voice filled with concern. "And the worst part is, they're in a really bad condition. I don't know when they'll wake up."

"Is everything alright? I do hope you all are comfortable," Patrick said, as he walked in.

"Oh...yes we're good and comfortable."

"Thank you for everything."

"Everything is fine, thank you." Everyone was talking at once.

"Has anyone seen my wife?"

"Yes... Trinity, Mrs Croven and her grandmother are talking... somewhere," Tyrone replied hesitantly.

"If I may ask, what happened to you guys?... It's OK if you don't want me to know," Patrick asked politely, not wanting to sound nosey.

Tyrone began explaining as Patrick listened with interest. "...and now, we just have to meet Mr King and ask for his help," he finished his story.

"You know his first name?"

"No. Thats why I need them."

"Well... don't hesitate to ask me for help if you need to," Patrick said.

"Thank you Mr Croven; We really appreciate it."

"Oh, call me Patrick."
