Chapter 2: The Blood Curse of the Ancient Mansion
"This ancient mansion is really eerie. How about we go back?" Fatty's voice was clearly trembling. He tightly grabbed the corner of my shirt, his eyes nervously scanning the surroundings. By this time, the sky was gradually getting dark. The ancient mansion was shrouded in a gloomy gray, looking even more mysterious and terrifying.
Although I pretended to be brave on the surface, "What are you afraid of? We're already here." In fact, my heart was pounding uneasily. With us was Skinny, who seemed completely nonchalant. He disdainfully curled his lips and said, "You two are just being cowards. Maybe there are treasures inside. If we can find something valuable, we'll strike it rich."
We discovered this ancient mansion by chance while exploring local legends. It was said that a tragic and appalling murder had taken place here. Everyone in the mansion died suddenly overnight, and their deaths were extremely horrifying. For years, the surrounding villagers had avoided this place. As time passed, the ancient mansion was left abandoned, overgrown with weeds and in a dilapidated state.
We cautiously entered the ancient mansion. The large door creaked open slowly, raising a cloud of dust. The sound was particularly harsh in the quiet environment, as if it were a sigh from the ancient mansion. Inside, there was a decaying smell. The wallpaper on the walls was in tatters, resembling distorted鬼脸 (ghastly faces). In some places, there were still some faint portraits, but it was impossible to make out what they originally looked like, only making people feel a chill down their spines.
"Why is it so cold in here?" Skinny rubbed his arms. Even though it was summer, there was a bone-chilling cold in the mansion, as if an invisible hand was gently caressing our backs, making us shiver involuntarily.
"Look! What's that!" Fatty pointed at a pool of dark red stains on the ground, his voice changing pitch. The pool of stains looked exactly like dried blood, snaking its way into the depths of the darkness, as if guiding us towards some unknown and terrifying place.
We followed the bloodstains and came to a large hall. There were several tattered tables and chairs in the hall, all in a mess as if there had been a fierce fight. In the center was a huge coffin, with the lid half-open, faintly emitting a disgusting stench. That smell was a mixture of rotting flesh and old, musty air, making people want to vomit as soon as they smelled it.
"Could there really be a corpse?" Fatty swallowed hard, his eyes filled with fear. His body was slightly trembling, and his feet seemed nailed to the ground, not daring to take another step forward.
Skinny tried to act calm. In fact, beads of sweat had already formed on his forehead, but he still bravely said, "Let's just open it and see. Maybe there really are some treasures hidden inside." With that, he picked up a wooden stick and slowly walked towards the coffin, each step showing great caution.
Just as Skinny was about to touch the coffin, suddenly, a gloomy laugh echoed through the empty hall, sending chills down our spines. The laugh was shrill and long, as if it were the mocking laugh of an evil spirit coming from the depths of hell.
"Who? Who's there!" I shouted loudly, but my voice involuntarily trembled. My heart was pounding wildly, and I felt like my heart was about to jump out of my throat.
There was no response. Only the strange laugh grew louder and louder, as if it wanted to swallow us whole. Skinny's face turned deathly pale. He turned around and tried to run, but tripped over something on the ground.
"Ah!" Skinny let out a scream. We quickly rushed over and saw that a withered hand had somehow wrapped around his leg. The fingernails of the hand were long and sharp, digging deep into his flesh, and blood was flowing freely. Skinny grimaced in pain and struggled desperately.
"Quick! Help me get it off!" Skinny shouted loudly. Fatty and I quickly stepped forward and forcefully pulled the withered hand. It took a great deal of effort to tear it off. When the withered hand fell to the ground, it twitched slightly, making our hair stand on end.
The wound on Skinny's leg was very deep, and blood was gushing out. "No, I have to get out and find a doctor quickly." Skinny gritted his teeth and said. Beads of sweat covered his forehead, and his face had turned pale due to excessive blood loss.
But when we turned around to leave, we found that the way we came had disappeared. In its place was a wall. The wall seemed to have emerged from the ground suddenly. The surface of the wall was smooth, without any cracks.
"What's going on?" Fatty slapped the wall in a panic. "We're trapped!" His voice carried a sobbing tone, and his eyes were filled with despair.
"Stay calm! There must be an exit." I comforted them verbally, but in fact, I was extremely panicked. My mind was racing, trying to find a solution, but fear made my thoughts chaotic.
At this moment, there came a violent shaking from the coffin side. The "bang bang bang" sound made our hearts pound with fear. The sound was as if something inside the coffin was angrily hitting the lid, trying to break free.
"We're done for! Whatever's inside is coming out!" Fatty simply collapsed to the ground, hugging his head with both hands, and his body kept shaking.
Suddenly, the coffin lid "clanged" and was flipped open. A figure slowly rose from inside. It was a person beyond recognition, with a swollen and rotting body, emitting a suffocating stench. His skin had a strange bluish-purple color, covered with maggots, and in some places, even the white bones were exposed.
"You... all shall die..." The monster uttered these words indistinctly and slowly walked towards us. Its steps were heavy and slow, and with each step, the ground seemed to tremble.
"Fight it!" I picked up a wooden stick and rushed towards the monster. But before I could get close, the monster waved its hand, and I was sent flying by a huge force, landing heavily on the ground. I felt as if all my bones were about to break apart, and a mouthful of blood spat out from my mouth.
"Help... help..." Skinny's voice was getting weaker and weaker. The blood flowing from his wound had turned black, obviously poisoned by something.
The monster approached step by step. Fatty was so scared that he lost control of his bowels and bladder. He kept muttering, "Sorry, we shouldn't have come..." His eyes were filled with fear and despair as he watched the monster approaching.
In an instant, the monster reached Fatty's side. It grabbed Fatty's head with one hand and twisted it forcefully. With a "click", Fatty's neck was broken, and blood spurted out like a fountain. Fatty's body slumped limply to the ground, his eyes wide open in death.
"No!" I shouted in despair. Just as the monster was about to attack me, Skinny somehow found the strength to pounce on the monster and hold it tightly.
"Go! Don't worry about me!" Skinny shouted. His voice was already very weak, but his eyes showed determination.
I didn't care about anything else and ran desperately, searching for an exit in the darkness. As I ran, I heard Skinny's screams and the monster's roars coming from behind, filling my heart with grief and fear.
Suddenly, I saw a glimmer of light and rushed towards it. The light grew brighter and brighter, and finally, I escaped from the ancient mansion.
Looking back, that ancient mansion still stood there gloomily, as if hiding countless secrets and curses. And Fatty and Skinny remained forever in that terrifying place, becoming victims of the ancient mansion's blood curse.
But when we turned around and were about to leave, we found that the way we came had disappeared. Instead, there was a wall. That wall seemed to have emerged from the ground suddenly. The surface of the wall was extremely rough, full of cracks everywhere.
"What's going on?" Fatty slapped the wall in a hurry. "We're not trapped!" His voice was full of excitement, and his eyes were filled with hope.
"Don't be too excited! There might be some other problems." I said calmly to them, though actually I was also extremely thrilled. My brain was working rapidly, trying to figure out what was happening, and my excitement made my thoughts race.
At this time, there came a gentle shaking from the coffin side. The "thud thud thud" sound was rather soothing. The sound seemed to be something inside the coffin gently pushing the lid, as if it wanted to greet us.
"Great! Something interesting is about to happen!" Fatty jumped up excitedly, his hands waving in the air, and his body bouncing with joy.
Suddenly, the coffin lid "clunk" was lifted up gently, and a figure slowly rose from inside. It was a person with a normal appearance, the body healthy and strong, emitting a pleasant fragrance. His skin had a healthy pink color, and his body was full of vitality, with no sign of any decay.
"Welcome... come closer..." The kind figure made clear and friendly sounds, and walked towards us gently. His steps were light and brisk, and with each step, the ground seemed to become more vibrant.
"Let's go and say hello!" I put down the stick in my hand and walked towards the figure with a smile. As I got closer, the figure reached out his hand warmly and shook mine gently. I felt extremely comfortable, as if all my fatigue had disappeared.
"Wow... this is amazing..." Skinny's voice was full of surprise and admiration. The blood flowing from his wound had turned bright red, indicating that the poison had disappeared.
The figure walked closer gently. Fatty was extremely excited, jumping up and down, and kept saying, "This is so cool! We're so lucky!" His eyes were filled with excitement and anticipation as he watched the figure approach.
In an instant, the figure reached Fatty's side. He gently patted Fatty on the head, and Fatty laughed happily. "Haha!" Fatty's body was full of energy, and he looked extremely happy.
"Amazing!" I exclaimed in delight. Just as we were enjoying this wonderful moment, Skinny, full of energy, ran over and hugged the figure.
"Let's have a great time together!" Skinny shouted. His voice was full of vitality, and his eyes showed enthusiasm.
I was in high spirits and started exploring the ancient mansion with them. As we walked, we heard pleasant music and laughter coming from all around, filling our hearts with joy and wonder.
Suddenly, I saw a magnificent light, and we walked towards the light leisurely. The light became brighter and brighter, and we finally walked out of the ancient mansion in a relaxed and happy mood.
Looking back, that ancient mansion stood there brightly, as if it was a place full of blessings and good fortune. And Skinny and Fatty, along with me, left that wonderful place with beautiful memories, having experienced a magical and pleasant adventure.
