Warlock of Oceans: My Poseidon System

Chapter 490: Sixth Floor: The Chamber of Seven Seas (11)

The fight raged on, the trio's teamwork and adaptability keeping them alive against the relentless onslaught of enemies. The battlefield was a chaotic swirl of magic, steel, and monstrous fury, but the trio stood firm, determined to emerge victorious.

The battlefield shifted as the Angler Reavers underwent a grotesque transformation, their lures extinguishing before reigniting in a brilliant, blinding glow. Their forms became bulkier, with fins sharp as blades and claws that crackled with an aura of disruptive energy. Their movements became faster, more fluid, and coordinated, their strikes infused with a primal ferocity. Meanwhile, the Crab Men and fishmen surged forward with renewed aggression, and the Abyssal Wraiths circled ominously, their tendrils weaving through the water like serpents.

The trio braced themselves, the weight of their opponents' evolving threat pressing heavily around them.

A newly transformed Angler Reaver lunged at Cyrus, its claws crackling with energy that distorted the water around it. Cyrus spun his trident in a defensive arc, deflecting the claws with a metallic clang before thrusting the weapon forward in a rippling strike. The Reaver dodged with unnerving agility, countering with a spinning slash from its tail. Anticipating the move, Cyrus tilted his body sideways and slammed the butt of his trident into the tail mid-spin, disrupting its momentum and driving the creature back.

On his left, Jesua was locked in a furious melee with a Crab Man wielding dual scimitars. The creature unleashed a relentless flurry of slashes, the blades cutting through the water with lethal precision. Jesua ducked and weaved, her dual swords clashing with its weapons in bursts of sparks. She stepped into its guard, twisting her body to evade a downward slash, and drove her knee into its abdomen. The creature staggered, and Jesua followed up with a cross-slash that left glowing trails in its carapace. Before she could land a killing blow, another Crab Man attacked from her blind spot, forcing her to dive into a roll.

Meanwhile, Sylus faced two Abyssal Wraiths simultaneously, their shadowy tendrils reaching for him like grasping hands. He conjured a shield of icy magic, deflecting their strikes while summoning spikes of frozen water to counter. One tendril shattered the shield, forcing Sylus to retreat. He raised his staff, unleashing a wave of freezing energy that temporarily slowed the wraiths, giving him a moment to regain his footing.

Cyrus took control of the battlefield, his movements deliberate and commanding. As two Angler Reavers rushed him, he spun his trident overhead, creating a vortex that disrupted their coordination. He leapt into the fray, driving the trident into one Reaver's chest with a burst of water magic that sent it crashing into a coral structure. The second Reaver attempted to flank him, but Cyrus twisted his body mid-air, using the momentum to hurl his trident like a spear. The weapon impaled the creature's glowing lure, extinguishing its light and leaving it writhing in the sand.

Jesua found herself surrounded by fishmen wielding tridents and coral clubs. They coordinated their attacks, forcing her on the defensive. She parried a thrust, sidestepped a club swing, and countered with a spinning slash that disarmed one opponent. Another fishman lunged at her, but she caught its weapon between her crossed blades, twisted sharply, and shattered the trident in half. Using the broken weapon as a stepping stone, she vaulted over the fishman, landing behind it and delivering a devastating slash to its back.

Sylus took a calculated approach, focusing on controlling the battlefield. He conjured a swirling barrier of ice shards around himself, deterring enemies from closing in. Spotting Jesua struggling with multiple opponents, he extended his hand and launched a concentrated beam of frost that froze one fishman mid-strike. "Jesua, finish it!" he called out. She nodded, dashing forward to shatter the frozen enemy with a powerful overhead slash.

The transformed Angler Reavers proved to be formidable. Their glowing lures now emitted pulses of disorienting light, forcing the trio to rely on instincts and strategy rather than sight. Cyrus closed his eyes, feeling the water currents shift with each movement. When a Reaver charged, he sidestepped gracefully, catching its claw with his trident and using its momentum to hurl it into another approaching enemy.

Jesua and Sylus adapted as well. Jesua focused on precise, rapid strikes, using the terrain to her advantage. She darted between coral formations, using them as cover to launch ambushes on unsuspecting enemies. Sylus, on the other hand, shifted to a support role, creating ice barriers to block enemy advances and freezing sections of the battlefield to limit their mobility.

Despite their skill, the trio was nearly overwhelmed as more enemies joined the fray. The Abyssal Wraiths and Crab Men coordinated with the Angler Reavers, creating a relentless assault. Sylus gritted his teeth and unleashed a massive ice wave, freezing a section of the battlefield and giving the trio breathing room. "We can't keep this up forever!" he shouted.

Cyrus slammed his trident into the sand, creating a shockwave that sent nearby enemies sprawling. "Then we finish this now!" he roared, rallying his companions.

Jesua took his words to heart, diving into the thick of battle with renewed vigor. Her swords blurred as she cut through the water, each strike precise and lethal. She kicked off a coral spire, flipping over an attacking Crab Man and delivering a devastating downward slash to its head.

Sylus conjured a massive ice spear and hurled it at an Angler Reaver, pinning it to the ground. He then raised his staff, summoning a storm of ice shards that rained down on the battlefield, forcing the enemies to scatter.

The fight continued, each moment a test of the trio's skill, endurance, and teamwork as they faced the relentless horde. The transformed enemies pushed them to their limits, but their determination and adaptability kept them fighting.

The battlefield seemed to shift as the remaining Angler Reavers and Abyssal Wraiths began to merge, their forms twisting and melding in a grotesque transformation. Their bodies expanded, their jagged, bioluminescent scales now wrapped in an aura of dark, spectral energy. The air around them grew heavier, the water vibrating with an oppressive force. Tendrils of shadow lashed out unpredictably, while glowing orbs resembling abyssal eyes pulsed across their new forms. The fusion resulted in hulking leviathan-like beings, larger, more coordinated, and infinitely more menacing.

The trio exchanged a quick, determined glance. They knew they had to recalibrate their strategy for this new monstrosity, or they wouldn't make it out alive.

The first fused beast lunged at Cyrus, its clawed arm now encased in ghostly flames. Cyrus met the charge head-on, planting his trident into the sand and bracing himself. The massive claw struck, sending a shockwave through the water, but Cyrus had angled his weapon perfectly. The claw glanced off the trident's reinforced shaft, allowing him to sidestep and drive the weapon upward in a diagonal slash. The strike left a glowing scar across the creature's chest, though its spectral energy began knitting it back together almost immediately.

Before he could follow up, a shadowy tendril shot out from the beast's shoulder, wrapping around his ankle and yanking him off balance. Cyrus reacted instantly, twisting his body mid-fall and jabbing the butt of his trident into the tendril's source. The weapon's impact sent ripples of force through the creature, forcing it to release its grip.

Nearby, Jesua was engaging another of the fused monstrosities. This one wielded a trident-like appendage grown from its spectral arm. It thrust the weapon at her with blistering speed, each strike generating ripples of force that distorted the surrounding water. Jesua parried the blows with her dual swords, sparks flying as steel met spectral energy. She ducked under a horizontal slash, spinning low and delivering a sweeping kick that connected with the creature's knee. It faltered but recovered almost instantly, forcing her to roll backward as it lashed out with a whip-like tendril.

Jesua used the brief pause to throw a dagger infused with her aura into the creature's chest. The weapon exploded on impact, staggering the beast, but she barely had time to catch her breath as it countered by hurling a jagged chunk of corrupted coral at her. She twisted to the side, narrowly avoiding the projectile.

While Cyrus and Jesua kept the fused monsters occupied, Sylus focused on controlling the battlefield. He raised his staff, summoning a vortex of freezing energy that spiraled outward, creating patches of ice on the cavern floor and freezing some of the smaller shadow tendrils reaching toward him. Sensing an opportunity, Sylus channeled his power into a single massive shard of ice and launched it at one of the beasts. The shard struck its shoulder, freezing a chunk of its body, but the creature shattered the ice with a roar of defiance.

One of the monsters turned its attention to Sylus, rushing him with terrifying speed. Sylus raised a wall of ice, but the beast smashed through it, forcing him to retreat. As the creature closed in, Sylus jabbed his staff forward, releasing a burst of icy spikes. The spikes impaled the creature's legs, momentarily slowing it, but its spectral energy surged, burning away the ice. Sylus used the delay to reposition, moving closer to Jesua and Cyrus to ensure they could support each other.
