Chapter 8: Chapter 8
Eleanor
"What?" I rolled over in a flash before sitting up. "What do you mean Jake is waiting for me in the living room?"
"Don't act surprised now and pretend you don't know these things." She said, waving off my question. "Besides, don't you guys like, hang out every weekend? I mean I was even surprised when he didn't drop by last week."
I paused and it took me a few seconds to realize what Brianna was saying, and when I eventually did, a soft groan slipped out from my lips. Why did Thea and Jake have to be so buddy-buddy with each other when they were both aware of their feelings??
And now I was the one suffering because of it.
"What?" Brianna frowned, eyeing me with a confused look.
"It's nothing." I sighed, gesturing for her to leave. "Thanks for letting me know." I said, slipping my feet into the soft fur of my cozy slippers before padding across the room.
"So…when are you and Jake going to be official?" Brianna followed after, stopping behind me as I stared at my reflection in the mirror, smoothing out the tangles in my hair.
"Jake and I are never going to be official, Brianna." I huffed, heading out the door and she followed immediately.
"Don't lie." She pouted. "I've seen the way two flirt and look at each other. You guys are literally made for each other." She grinned, batting her lashes like a charming ingenue. "So what's the hold up?"
"Trust me Bree…" I said, pulling her out of my room before shutting the door behind me. "…we're not made for each other." I told her before heading down the stairs with my phone clutched in my hand.
Even if I was ever going to consider being with Jake because of appearance purposes, my conscience wouldn't let me. Because one, this wasn't my life and it wasn't me he liked.
Two, I wasn't even a bit interested in him.
And three, he was freaking minor…okay he was not a minor, but he was younger. Even though I was in the body of an 18 year old, I was still a 23 year old grown ass woman. And how old was Jake?? 21?
There was no way I'd be with a guy that was younger than me, even if he was just a few months younger. Besides, I always liked older guys…so there was no way we could work, no matter how hard I tried.
"Oh please, Thea. Only a kid would believe that. If you guys aren't made for each other then why do you keep staring at each other with sexy eyes and going on dates?"
"What?" Her words caused me to turn towards her with a small laugh. "You know what Brianna, just go to your room."
"But…" she tried to protest.
"We'll talk later." I spun her around pushing her up the stairs and when she finally gave up and stopped resisting, I went back down to meet Jake and as expected I found him sitting in the living room. And surprisingly, I didn't even need to say anything to get his attention.
His eyes swept over me and it wasn't until his gaze lingered on my legs that I realized how skimpy my clothes were.
Of course I wasn't going like this, I only came down to ask Jake where we were going so I'd know what I was going to wear…but that didn't stop him from staring though.
Unlike most white teenage girls I knew, Thea had thick thighs…I mean really thick thighs, especially for someone her age so it was no shocker that Jake was attracted to her.
He probably just had a crush on her because of her nice and sweet personality and later found out about the perks of her body when he came over since Thea didn't exactly like tight fitting clothes at school.
"Uh…hi." He stuttered, dropping his phone beside him.
I pressed my lips together, walking up to him from behind the couch so I could hide my legs. "Hey."
"I…I thought we were going to study together." He cleared his throat, doing his best not to look down. I even almost found it funny.
"Oh…so that's where we were going." I raised my brows. "You see, it kind of slipped my mind so I came to confirm just before I got dressed." I jerked my thumb towards the stairs.
"But we always go every Saturday?" He arched a brow. "The only reason we didn't go last time was because I was babysitting my younger brother. I thought you knew that." His brows dipped.
Oh crap.
"I'm certain I told you a week before th…"
"Uh…I remember now." I forced out a laugh, cutting him off before he could say more. "It's just that ever since I fell and hit my head the other day, I've been…"
"You fell and hit your head?" His brows shot up as he sprang up from his seat. "Where? Why didn't you tell me?" He queried circling around the couch.
Damn it. I should've come up with another excuse.
One that wouldn't get him worried.
"No, I'm fine." I quickly stepped back the second he reached for my face, which took him by surprise.
"I'm fine." I repeated, pretending I didn't notice the half shocked half hurt look on his face. "It happened a few days ago and I didn't break anything so I'm fine." My lips thinned.
"Oh ok." He plastered on a smile stepping back and I couldn't help but feel bad for him. To me I was doing the right thing by staying away because I wasn't who he thought I was. To him, he was being rejected by the girl he liked.
"I'm going to…um…" I trailed off, gesturing towards the stairs and he dipped his head in a small nod before circling around the couch again.
"Okay." I said in a small voice before heading towards the stairs.
I needed to find Thea.
And I needed to do it fast.
