Unwritten Desires

Chapter 6: Chapter 6

Eleanor

Never in my life would I have predicted that I would die and be reincarnated as a side character in a romance book I had read in my past life.

I mean just thinking about it made me disoriented and lightheaded.

Well…at least now I knew where I was, but now I needed to find out how and why. I also needed to find out if everything was going to play out the way it did in the book and since Theodora wasn't exactly a main character, I didn't have much information on her life.

Most people would think she would be one of the main characters since she was the best friend of the female lead but unfortunately she wasn't.

As it turns out, she even died not long into the story and from what I've observed, that was supposed to happen in a week from now.

But now that I was her, I wasn't going to let that happen, not after being given a chance to live again.

First things first, I needed to test if the story was unfolding the way I remembered. It had been a few months since I read the novel but since I had a sharp memory, it wasn't a problem.

However, there was a problem, one that also had something to do with the story unfolding just the way it was in the novel.

The thing was…while I was reading the book, I somehow got bored and distracted so I didn't exactly make it to the end of the novel and now…I had no idea of how the story ended.

In spite of this, I did know that Sofia and Liam were the main characters and they were going to end up together but for now…they hadn't met. Well, Sofia knew who Liam was, frankly speaking everyone did but he didn't know who she was and all of their love story and meet up shit was supposed to go down after Thea's death…or rather my death, which I wasn't going to let happen.

Liam and Sofia were going to meet eventually, I mean they were in the same school after all. All I needed to do for now was just play along, keep up the act and stay out of trouble till I could figure things out.

Or at least, that was the plan.

Unfortunately, trouble found me before I could even make it through the day.

The classroom was loud with chatter as the students moved from place to place. The teacher hadn't arrived yet and I was in the middle of putting my stuff together when a voice rang out,

"Well, well, if it isn't Dora and her funny looking backpack." The voice was sharp and tinged with mockery and I glanced up to see a brown skin girl with dark hair standing by my desk with her arms crossed and her lips curled into a smirk.

"Haven't seen you around for a while. Went to the jungle to explore or something?" She lifted a brow and a fit of laughter erupted from the class and I couldn't help but wonder why they all found that funny.

It was lame. Incredibly lame.

Guess they all had a terrible sense of humor.

Her features and attitude already gave her identity away so I didn't need to think about it too much. Her name was Naomi Sawyer and she was Theadora's personal nightmare.

If I remembered correctly, Naomi had always picked on Thea for the stupidest reasons. All because she was jealous of her. She kept playing pranks on her and making her life miserable and one faithful day…one of her dumb pranks led to Thea's death.

That's right.

This dumb brat standing in front of me now was the girl who was meant to kill me. But like I said, I wouldn't let that happen.

In the novel, it was all an accident and Naomi never meant for Theadora to die but if I were going to be honest with myself, no one really knew what was going on in other people's heads.

Unluckily for Naomi, I wasn't Theadora so I wasn't going to entertain her nonsense.

So I just ignored her just like the real Thea normally did.

I pulled out a notebook, flipping to a random page like she wasn't standing in front of me.

That should've been the end of it but Naomi wasn't really the type to let things slide and neither was I.

A second later, I felt something sharp scrape across my desk and I slid my gaze to the side only to see her dragging a pen across the wooden surface in a slow, deliberate motion.

I felt my jaw clench but I kept my eyes on my notebook.

"Hello?" She called out with gritted teeth. It was obvious she was losing her temper now. "Earth to Dora?" She sing-songed, tapping her nails along the desk.

"How many times do I need to explain this to you? Ignoring me is not going to help you, amiga." She sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

She obviously wasn't Spanish so it was pretty clear that she was making reference to Dora from "Dora the Explorer."

I did find it a bit funny that she was referring to me as her "friend" but that wasn't enough reason for me to give her the attention she wanted so I sighed through my nose ignoring her.

She wasn't going to get a reaction out of me. I wouldn't give her that satisfaction. In situations like this, Sofia would stand up for me, but we were having different classes now.

Oh well, it's not like I needed her to anyway.

Then all of a sudden, Naomi did something that made my blood run cold with rage.

She reached out, snatching my glasses off my face and a wave of shock rippled through the class as students turned to watch.

Of course, they weren't going to interfere, this was only for their entertainment. However, I could see Jake fuming with anger out of the corner of my eye and I could tell he was about to say something but I beat him to it.

"Give it back, Naomi." I blinked slowly, tucking a loose strand behind my ear. Considering how angry I was at the moment, I was even surprised I was able to remain this calm.

"And what if I don't?" She teased, holding them up in mock admiration.

"Trust me…" I said with a small smile. "You don't wanna know."

She seemed a bit taken aback by my comment but she responded almost immediately.

"Oh but I do wanna know." She raised her brows, leaning closer. "I also want to know when you started paying attention to your looks." She gestured around my face.

"Did you finally realize how ugly and pathetic you looked and thought make up and styling your hair would help?" She cackled and I could feel my eye twitching. "Or are you trying to impress someone?" She leaned even closer, cocking her head towards Jake, slow enough for me to notice but also fast and not obvious enough for anyone else to either.

"Oh please, Naomi. I'm not like you. I don't need to style my hair or paint my cheeks red to make a guy notice me…" I smirked, savoring the small gasps and whispers. I then dropped my voice to a small whisper so others couldn't hear. "Besides, he already did."

My smirk spread into a satisfied grin when her face scrunched with rage and it took everything in me not to burst out laughing.

I knew Naomi had always liked Jake, I mean that was even the reason she kept bullying Thea in the first place…because Jake had eyes for Thea and not her.

Well I guess if you think about it and consider all the drama that revolves around her, she was the female lead in her own story…until she died that is.

"Now…" I paused, holding out my palm. "Will you please give me back my glasses?"

"Come and get it." She wiggled the glasses in front of me before wrapping both of her hands on each side and that was when I realized she was going to break them.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." I narrowed my eyes in thin slits as I glared at her.

"Well I suppose that's why you're not me." She grinned and all the patience I had snapped into two and in a split second, I pushed back my chair, bolting at Naomi.

And before she could react, I grabbed her arm, twisting it behind her and forcing her to loosen her grip and let out a small cry. The glasses then slipped from her fingers, and I caught them midair. Then before Naomi could pull away, I leaned in just enough for only her to hear.

"Try that again," I whispered in a sharp tone, "and I'll make sure you regret it."

Having said that, I pushed her away causing her to collide with a desk and letting out a small groan. Then I settled back in my seat, reaching for the microfiber cloth in my glass case and wiping her dirty fingerprints off my glasses before putting them back on.

The classroom was dead silent but I didn't care.

Just because I didn't want to drag attention to myself didn't mean I should let Naomi or any other person bully me.

She was a bitch and I was going to treat her that way.

I could feel the tension thickening as I picked up the book on my desk and skimmed through it, pretending I wasn't looking at Naomi as her face turned red with embarrassment.

I could literally hear her jaw clenching as she struggled to come up with something to say. But in the end, she just scoffed, flipping her hair over her shoulder before stalking back to her seat.

I smirked. Exactly know your place.

However the whispers began immediately and I couldn't help but wonder if these people even understood what whispering was. I was certain I could hear them even if I was a mile away.

Okay that's just exaggerating, but that's how bad it was.

"Did you see that?"

"No way, did Theadora just…?"

"She actually put Naomi in her place…"

I exhaled, adjusting my glasses again.

Well. That was one way to make a statement.

By the time the class was over, people were still stealing glances at me like I had grown a second head or something.

I just ignored them, gathering my things and heading towards the hallway when I spotted someone waiting for me by the lockers.

Jake.

Oh crap.
