UNIVERSE 'Killing The Zone'

Chapter 9: Skill

As befits an expert accustomed to the situation, Steven casually descended from his treehouse with the one rope he had used earlier to hang from another tree, his crossbow kit strapped to his back.

"Tsk, there she is again... why do you love to make a scene," said Steven, who honestly did not like what he had just discovered.

He loved peace and quiet, but unfortunately he rarely felt it during his time in the Universe.

Casually, he drew his arrow and tried to aim it at the animal that was the target of the person who was chasing it.

One shot could quickly immobilize his prey.

"Hey!!!" a loud screech suddenly came from below as she realized that the animal she was chasing was lying down and not running as before.

A small chuckle escaped Steven's lips as he began to slowly descend the rope.

"What's the matter? Why do you look so upset?"

A soft chuckle came from the lips of the girl in front of him.

"Why did you shoot at that with your crossbow? Didn't you see that I was here? I failed because of you."

"You were on a mission?"

The twisted face Steven got when he saw the girl who was older than him.

"Sorry, I thought you were making a scene as usual," Steven said, extending his hand to the girl in front of him.

A heavy sigh escaped the girl's lips before she finally shook Steven's hand.

"Where is your henchman? She's usually with you," Ellie rolled her eyes lazily. She knew very well who Steven meant, after all Ellie and Fey had known each other, it was just that Fey's and Steven's thoughts sometimes contradicted each other.

This was also the reason why Steven chose to be alone, although it did not exclude the possibility that he would help Ellie if she asked for it.

"What exactly is your problem with Fey? Why does she seem to hate you?"

Steven gave Ellie a shrug, because it was true that he didn't know why Fey seemed to distrust him, and she always considered himself a big mouth with all the knowledge he knew based on valid calculations.

"Ah, I found a new person as well."

Steven suddenly tapped his forehead. He had just remembered that someone was waiting for him in the tree house.

Ellie frowned at Steven who seemed to have just remembered something.

"Is there a problem?"

Steven nodded his head, explaining to Ellie that he had also found a new person, even though both of them seemed to be unaware of the transition zone they were in.

"Let's get together."

Ellie's trademark grin was clearly visible on the girl's face.

Steven could only twist his eyes lazily. He had already memorized Ellie's overly extroverted behavior and got along easily with all the new people.

According to Ellie, meeting new people was fun.

Inevitably, Steven obeyed the will of Ellie, who was very difficult to argue with. To him, Ellie was a person who had an important role for him when she was there.

"Hey, wait... don't rush. What if I get lost here?" Gerald yelled, running hard behind Fey who was already far ahead.

He wanted to be angry at the two girls of different ages, but considering that he was far from being adapted to the universe, he could not look down on the two girls.

Shouldn't he be ashamed?

Maybe he should!

Or maybe he was!

But there was no way he could tell Fey or Ellie that directly, was there?

He still wanted to be a real man in front of the girl he had just met.

"Hey!!!"

Once again Gerald tried to raise his voice to stop Fey's footsteps. But unfortunately, Fey seemed to be deaf enough to ignore Gerald's call.

The distance between Fey and Gerald was more than 5 meters, so Gerald also had to raise his voice, but his efforts were in vain.

What is the distance between them and Ellie?

Of course, the two of them were far behind Ellie, who was the fastest, chasing an animal that Gerald couldn't understand why Ellie was so easy to lose sight of.

Gerald took a deep breath and tried to endure the tightness that was filling his lungs.

His footsteps, which had been running to catch up, now slowly stopped. He really couldn't do it!

Why was his body so weak?

He often asked himself.

He took in a lot of oxygen when he stopped completely, not pushing himself for something he couldn't do.

As his body began to relax, he unconsciously became a transparent body as his skill.

Fey, who originally had no intention of searching for the whereabouts of the new partner Ellie had introduced, now began to slow the speed of her steps.

'Where is he? Why did he suddenly disappear? Didn't he call me earlier? He's not in danger, is he?'

Guilt began to gnaw at Fey's mind.

Her gaze began to take in her surroundings, noticing everything around her.

Until her eyes stared at the irregularity.

A pair of clothes without limbs seemed to be walking towards them.

Fey, feeling uncomfortable, naturally mounted a horse with a knife tucked behind her body.

"Who are you?"

The pair of clothes and shoes stopped in front of Fey.

Gerald, unaware of his condition, naturally looked at Fey in confusion. Did Fey suddenly have amnesia? Hadn't they been together all this time?

"It's me Gerald, do you have amnesia?" asked Gerald with a confused look at the girl who was smaller than him.

Hearing what Gerald said, Fey now just oohs and ahhs and tells Gerald that Gerald's skills are pretty cool.

Gerald's eyes blinked several times, looking at Fey and himself.

A loud screech came from Gerald's lips, causing the young man to spontaneously reveal himself in his normal form.

"What happened to me? Why am I like this?" Gerald panicked, making sure he could see his hands and feet.

He really didn't know how to control his abilities.

A low chuckle was now heard from Fey, who could not hide the amusement that tickled her.

'What an idiot! '
