Chapter 191 My Girlfriend Hasn't Finished Eating Yet
Chapter One Hundred and Ninety-One
Chun Tao, upon hearing that she could go to school in Hechuan City, was quite excited. She arrived at the farm early the next morning to meet up with Long Xiaoshan.
"What's the rush? Are you so eager to leave me for school?" Long Xiaoshan feigned a look of heartbreak.
Upon hearing this, Chun Tao anxiously shook her head, "Little Xiaoshan, that's not it. Well, then, I won't go."
"Haha, just teasing you," laughed Long Xiaoshan. "I've arranged everything. We'll head out shortly."
After breakfast,
Long Xiaoshan took Chun Tao in his pickup truck and set out from Longyang Village towards Hechuan City.
Upon entering the urban area of Hechuan City, Long Xiaoshan drove to the commercial center's pedestrian street.
"Xiaoshan, what are we doing here?" Chun Tao asked as they got out of the car, seeing no sign of the school around.
"You're going to be living at school, so I'm going to buy you some clothes that are suitable for everyday wear at school," he explained.
Other than the clothes she bought in the village, Chun Tao only owned some professional white-collar skirt suits.
The clothes she was wearing now were bought at the village market and were given to her by Long Xiaoshan last summer. They were already a bit worn, and the style was somewhat dated.
"I've brought some clothes to change into," said Chun Tao, holding up a simple tote bag.
"Those clothes are no good anymore. We'll throw them away later,"
Long Xiaoshan took a look and immediately said.
Even though he himself wasn't particular about his appearance, it wasn't because he was stingy or frugal. It was because he often had to work on the farm, and his strength from cultivation was so great that a little carelessness could tear his clothes.
Experience more on empire
So Long Xiaoshan no longer cared much about clothes.
It didn't make sense to him to spend thousands or even tens of thousands on clothes that would tear after a few days. Even though he wasn't short on money now, he didn't want to waste it like that.
But Chun Tao was different.
Chun Tao was his woman. Even if Long Xiaoshan were poorer, he wouldn't be stingy with his own woman—especially since he wasn't exactly short on money now.
Aside from the farm's income, he also had Dragon Spirit Pharmaceuticals. Just the Hundred-Year-Old Medicine he currently had on hand could be sold for a few billion.
And he could cultivate these old medicines continuously.
It was faster than a money-printing machine.
"I think they're quite good. I can still wear them," Chun Tao said.
"You," Long Xiaoshan shook his head, tossed the bag into the truck, and took Chun Tao's hand as they walked into the pedestrian street.
This was Chun Tao's first visit to the city.
The surrounding bustle constantly amazed her, giving her the feeling of Granny Liu entering Grand View Gardens.
"Little Xiaoshan, look how tall that building is! I counted, and it has thirty floors," she said.
"Xiaoshan, is that a TV? Why is it so big?"
"What kind of car is this? Why does it have two levels?"
Chun Tao looked around curiously, asking questions non-stop.
Long Xiaoshan patiently answered her "hundreds of thousands of whys," feeling a surge of tenderness in his heart.
Although she had been married in the village for many years and he should have called her 'sister-in-law,' she was only three years older than Long Xiaoshan, being just twenty-three years old that year.
At that age, in the city, she would be no different from a girl who had just graduated from college. She could weave countless brilliant dreams and squander her youth.
But instead, she was trapped in a little mountain village.
If he had not come along, her whole life would have been spent looking after a blind mother-in-law or being a plaything for a village tyrant like Long Fakui.
How could he not cherish such a woman and let her enjoy a beautiful life?
"Little Xiaoshan, what is that? There are so many people," Chun Tao said, pointing to a red storefront bustling with people coming and going.
"Oh, that's KFC," Long Xiaoshan replied.
"So that's KFC," Chun Tao said with surprise. "I heard Sister Hong from the village talk about it. She said KFC is an import from abroad. She had it when she was working in the city and said it's really delicious, and also very expensive."
As she spoke, her eyes revealed a hint of envy.
"Sigh," Long Xiaoshan shook his head. He originally wanted to say that it was just junk food.
However, he remembered how he too was excited the first time he had KFC after leaving the village.
He smiled and said, "Do you want to eat it?"
"No, no," Chun Tao quickly shook her head, but a glimmer of longing in her eyes betrayed her.
"Come on, no need to be so polite with me," Long Xiaoshan didn't know what else to say.
Chun Tao was just too shy.
He took Chun Tao into the KFC, asked her to wait on the side, and went to order a family bucket meal.
A little while later, after making the purchase, Long Xiaoshan came over with the family bucket and handed it to Chun Tao, saying, "Here, you eat."
Chun Tao picked up a piece of fried chicken, bit into it carefully and expectantly, but her face didn't show any delight. Instead, she slightly furrowed her brow.
Long Xiaoshan smiled and asked, "What's the matter? Doesn't it taste as good as you imagined?"
Chun Tao smiled shyly, looking down.
"Actually, it's nothing special. Abroad, it's just fast food, much inferior to what we raise on the farms. If it doesn't taste good, just throw it away," Long Xiaoshan said.
"Oh, that wouldn't do. What a waste," Chun Tao said. "I'll eat a little more, and we can take the rest with us."
Long Xiaoshan knew Chun Tao's character and didn't insist, saying, "Then you eat here for a while. I'm going to use the restroom and make a phone call to have someone come over and take us to the school."
After saying this, Long Xiaoshan went to the restroom. Once done, he stood by the restroom door and made a phone call.
"Hello, Brother Long."
"Wang Sihai, I'm in Hechuan City," Long Xiaoshan said.
"Brother Long, how did you get here so quickly? Why didn't you tell me so I could come and pick you up?"
"It's fine. I'm currently near the walking street. Later on, I'm going to Jinxiu Mall to buy some things. Just have the person you're sending to wait for me at the mall entrance," he replied.
"Alright, I'll be right there," Sihai responded.
Long Xiaoshan hung up the phone.
As he walked back, approaching the booth where Chun Tao was sitting, Long Xiaoshan squinted his eyes and asked, "Chun Tao, what happened?"
The window seats where Chun Tao was seated before had been taken over by two girls.
Both girls were dressed fashionably, one in a chiffon dress with large, cartoonish eyes, and the other in a black long dress, carrying a Coach bag, her demeanor cool and detached. They were both young, not even twenty, wearing light makeup, their delicate features indicative of city-bred delicate young women.
Chun Tao stood there, holding the paper bucket from the family bucket, looking somewhat at a loss.
Seeing Long Xiaoshan coming, she quickly said, "Xiaoshan!"
"Weren't you sitting here? Why did you get up?" Long Xiaoshan spoke while glancing at the two girls.
Looking up, the two girls surveyed Long Xiaoshan, a hint of disdain in their eyes before turning back to chat and play with their phones as if they hadn't heard him.
"They said they wanted this seat…" Chun Tao murmured softly.
"They said they wanted it, and you just gave it to them?" Long Xiaoshan frowned and said, thinking to himself that Chun Tao's gentle nature wouldn't serve her well in the city, where she could easily be bullied for her weakness.
Long Xiaoshan turned around, tapped twice on the table of the booth with his finger, and said indifferently, "You two, get up. My girlfriend hasn't finished eating yet."
