Ultimate Hybrid in DC and marvel

Chapter 2: Life in a lab part 1

---

He had a weird feeling, like when you have a dream. You're still immersed in it but starting to wake up until a sudden jolt awakens you.

Opening his eyes, the soul, or rather the boy now, realized that he was in some sort of container. It was filled with a slight white mist. Suddenly, it opened, and he fell out.

His limbs felt feeble, like wet noodles fresh out of the microwave. He got on all fours, breathing heavily. The white panel doors contrasted with the grey walls. As he began to look up and scan his surroundings, he suddenly felt a little bit of pain in his head.

Mainly, he heard a voice.

"Stand!" It sounded somewhat commanding. Still, he wasn't opposed to the order. Standing up, he looked around. On his sides and the floor were grey walls and a white floor. In front of him was a silver reinforced door. Behind him was the strange pod he seemed to have been in earlier.

Another order came to him after a while. "Stand by the pod and stand still!" The boy became slightly resentful of the voice. After all, who just wanted random voices in their head? Still, he understood that obeying was his best option for right now.

So, taking a few steps back, he waited by the pod. Soon, the vault door opened. Indeed, that's what he realized it was. He also realized that he was on the inside of said vault. Walking through the door was a small group of people.

First was another mainly black-haired boy around the same height as him. The boy wore an all-white uniform with a very familiar red symbol. On his shoulder was a small grey creature with short horns. This boy was clearly none other than Superboy from Young Justice.

Behind him was a doctor who had long brown hair tied in the back in a ponytail. He wore a standard white lab coat, glasses, and brown sandals, and had slight wrinkles on his face and streaks of white in his hair. The man's name was Mark Desmond, later known as Blockbuster.

Next to him was the golden-helmed hero Guardian, aka Jim Harper. He wore a dark blue jumpsuit with golden shoulders and wrist pads, with bright blue eyes and a fit build. Most importantly, he was also a clone just like Superboy, but unlike the boy, Guardian wasn't a hybrid.

Lastly was another doctor. She was an African American woman with brown hair. She wore glasses and diamond-shaped stud earrings. She also wore a white lab coat over a brown turtleneck with a dark pencil skirt.

The brown-haired man spoke first. His mind was still foggy and unfocused, so he couldn't understand him clearly, though.

"What?" he said, which seemed to agitate the scientist. He repeated himself, although this time in a much angrier tone.

"Hybrid, you are to follow my commands. Do you understand?"

"Uh, sure? Where am I?" the boy referred to as Hybrid responded. The man seemed to grow more frustrated.

"Genomorph, recalibrate his mind and get him to obey already." Dr. Desmond had turned towards the small grey creature on the young boy's shoulder. The grey creature didn't move or nod or do anything. However, suddenly, its small horns began to glow red.

Instantly, Hybrid clutched his forehead. He could feel the creature like hot knives in his skull. He knew it was trying to get into his head, trying to tame him. That was something he could not allow to happen.

He focused, imagining a thousand walls and domes surrounding his head to protect him from his enemies forever. Just as he'd hoped, his Martian blood had given him all the mental power he needed.

With a wave of telekinetic force, the Genomorph was forced out of his mind. That same wave had been felt throughout the whole room. The boy, now recovered, glared at the scientists. He charged at the man faster than he ever had before. But before Hybrid could grab him, the black-haired boy, who Hybrid had now recognized as Superboy, got in his way.

Superboy grabbed his arms, swung him around, and tossed him back towards his pod. Meanwhile, Guardian tried to usher the two scientists out. Dr. Spence allowed herself to be led out. Dr. Desmond, however, simply yelled at Guardian and the Genomorphs about how useless they were. He then proceeded to order Superboy to incapacitate Hybrid.

Meanwhile, Hybrid, or just Hybrid, was getting up from the rubble. His mind was foggy until he crashed into the pod. That's when his thoughts began to come together. Mainly, he came to one crucial decision.

"Okay, looks like I'm gonna have to fight before I get some answers."

Looking up, Superboy stood over him. He grinned and shifted into a more comfortable position. Superboy raised his arm and prepared a punch. Before he launched it, Hybrid spoke aloud for the first time.

"Hey, can we talk about this?"

"No."

The punch was thrown but then caught by a single hand. Hybrid's left hand squeezed then pulled as his right hand punched Superboy into the ceiling. Next, he stood up and walked himself towards the door.

Guardian, who at this point had come back for Dr. Desmond, managed to tackle him down before Superboy could blast past him through the metal door and into the Cadmus cave.

"Get off me, you oaf!" Desmond shouted as Guardian lifted off him and pulled him up. Looking up, Dr. Desmond saw Hybrid standing over him. Guardian tried to drag him away but was flung into the wall with a quick slap.

The boy spoke, "You! You and I will be having words! You will tell me who, where, and what I am! Or I will shatter your skull!" Dr. Desmond glared with eyes full of hate and fear.

His voice shook, anger filling his words. "Y-You are Project Olympus, a w-weapon created by Cadmus. You're on one of Cadmus's sublevels. You're a genetic hybrid, a perfect weapon made to kill the Justice League."

Hybrid frowned. "That boy, who is he? Are there more like him? Like us?"

Desmond growled out a response, "That's Project KR, and there are more where he came from." He smiled, which caught Hybrid by surprise. He suddenly heard a whooshing sound as something soared towards him in the air.
