Chapter 240: Testing the Lasso

===================

Dumpling, the chubby lion cub, had just returned from the forest and saw Daisy peeking through the door, waving at her. Usually, this meant playtime or a treat. Excited, the cub dashed towards her.

As she entered within five meters, she prepared to pounce as they often did together. But this time, Daisy had a surprise for her. A golden rope flashed in front of her eyes, and before the cub could react, she was tightly bound from head to toe by what seemed like an infinitely extending rope.

With a thud, she hit the carpet. Daisy ran over, pretending to be concerned, and patted her head to soothe it. She then asked how it felt.

With her mental energy flowing into the lasso, it could loosen or tighten at her will. Dumpling sent her a signal of fear. The specifics of why and how she felt frightened were unclear due to their inability to communicate in words.

Afraid of upsetting her cute pet, Daisy quickly retracted the lasso and played with her for a while until she was happily distracted.

I need to find a person to test this on!

After playing with Dumpling for half an hour, Daisy's mental energy had recovered by about a fifth. Pretending to discuss official business, she snuck into a certain captain's office.

Seeing the rope in her hand, Hill immediately panicked, waving her hands and saying, "No way! Absolutely not!"

Even though her fetishes and sex life had been exciting with Daisy (vibrations...), Hill hadn't gone that far off on the deep end.

Hill was the most principled woman Daisy had ever met. Firm and unwavering, once she made a decision, it was hard to change her mind. Facing this rejection, Daisy had to give up and turn to her last candidate, Maki...

"Yes, Come on!" Maki stood calmly in front of her.

Daisy wanted to say that she didn't need to be naked to make the lasso have the deepest contact with the skin, but she could only acquiesce. She drew an arc with her right hand, throwing the lasso, and firmly tying up Maki.

"Maki, how does it feel?" She expectantly asked.

"Hot, I feel so hot from the inside out, and it's a little scary as if something terrible is in front of me," Maki replied with a low tone, and the answer almost made Daisy dumbfounded. She couldn't just ask Maki if that heat was just her feeling or the effect of the lasso.

"Are you sure? Try to use the smoke form to get out."

Testing proved that the smoke form was quite dominant, and the lasso relied on a physical form to bind, so it couldn't hold smoke.

Leaving Maki to her own devices, Daisy stepped out onto the street, hoping to find some clueless thugs to test the lasso's capabilities. Unfortunately, New York's law and order had been unexpectedly good lately. After walking a few blocks without encountering a single gangster, Daisy had to pause her experiments.

The lasso's mysterious origin made her rational mind feel weird and wary, but her intuition told her it was safe. The conflicting feelings left her unsure how to proceed.

The shiny golden lasso lacked an invisibility feature and seemed to cling to her. With no easy explanation for its presence, she could either carry it in her bag or tie it around her waist.

Daisy studied the coordinates for Kunlun that the Ancient One had given her but couldn't think of a reason to go there.

If the people in Kunlun asked, "Why are you here?"

She couldn't exactly say, "The Ancient One sent me," could she?

That would be too lame… However, she knew the Ancient One never did things without a reason. So, she noted Kunlun at the top of her itinerary.

...

She got on a bus and bought a ticket. Now that Daisy had joined Hydra, although the organization was quite loose and anyone could join without submitting an application, she still needed to complete a formality to avoid being exposed at any time.

She arrived early at a mountain-side villa located on the outskirts of New York, hiding on the roof, waiting for the owner to return.

Viper walked with a swaying motion in her stiletto heels, twisting her waist. Her movements were neither too deliberate nor too subtle, carrying a unique charm in her steps. Even Daisy, as a woman, found it pleasing to watch. This was just the charm Viper exuded without being deliberate.

Viper walked into the hall, kicked off her heels, threw away her silk scarf, and changed into pale green pajamas under the service of a servant.

A large table full of dishes was completely eaten before she waved her hand to dismiss the servants. Viper elegantly wiped her red lips, her gaze falling on the spot where Daisy was hiding, "Come out, darling. Do I have to invite you?"

Daisy was surprised, "How did you find me? And you even waited until you finished your meal to call me down!"

Daisy was quite upset, thinking Viper was not being considerate—did she think she would eat her food?

Viper pointed to several corners of the wall.

Daisy nodded, "There are surveillance devices, I noticed them earlier. But as long as I slightly adjust the vibration frequency, your surveillance can't capture me."

Viper turned her head to the other side, not intending to explain further. She wouldn't admit that she was now more sensitive to vibrations after Daisy's torture and had detected Daisy's presence at the first shake.

"You're here, so there must be something. Tell me, what is it?"

Daisy wanted to say she was here to submit an application, but that would be too lowbrow. The appearance of the Lasso of Truth gave her a better idea.

She asked in a serious tone, "Who exactly are you? What does 'Hail Hydra' mean?"

This time, she couldn't shout the slogan with a Bavarian accent; she deliberately mispronounced a word and dragged out the ending.

Viper's face changed hearing her true identity exposed, her peach blossom eyes staring at Daisy for a long time. Realizing she wasn't here for a fight, Viper gradually lowered her guard.

She dodged the question about her identity and instead asked Daisy how she knew about the slogan.

Daisy recounted the events, some parts truth, and some parts fabricated.

Initially, Viper's face was very serious, but when she heard about Pierce sending people to kill her, her expression softened, a smile tugging at her lips, though she tried to suppress it.

By the end, when she heard about the three-way battle and Daisy blackmailing Pierce into making her deputy director, she laughed out loud.

She laughed so heartily, her face turning red, unladylike as she slapped the table in delight, her assets bouncing around in her pajamas. "Too stupid, he's too stupid! It's killing me!"

Daisy also found it funny, but she was here to seek justice, so she controlled her facial muscles, maintaining a serious expression.

Daisy's serious demeanor eventually made Viper stop laughing, realizing the matter was a bit tricky.

"Do you know what kind of organization Hydra is?" Viper, who usually relied on seduction to develop her followers, had long forgotten Hydra's doctrines. After thinking for a while, she didn't remember and could only ask Daisy back.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. has records, back when Red Skull..." Daisy had done her homework, reciting the S.H.I.E.L.D. information about Hydra accurately.

Viper smacked her lips, "Your information is too outdated. Hydra is not like that now."
