Chapter 348: Chapter 346: Dragon Slayer - Kaido!
Meanwhile, back in the world of pirates…
Having guided Enel in planning his future, Leo no longer paid attention to the 'Demon Slayer' world.
Its potential had been all but exhausted. If not for Enel's willingness to manage the number of Pokémon on his behalf, Leo would have already instructed him to leave that world for the next A-level one.
As these thoughts flickered through his mind, Leo's attention turned to the last dimensional merchant still present.
Kaido—the novice dimensional merchant—had yet to secure a single transaction in his half-year journey across other worlds.
Yet Leo harbored no dissatisfaction toward him.
On the contrary, Leo was filled with anticipation for Kaido's report.
Though Kaido was currently in a world with combat potential not far from that of the pirate world, the possibilities it offered were immense.
If Kaido could gain control of the power systems of this new world...
The range of commodities available for trade in the Transdimensional Chamber of Commerce would expand exponentially.
Paired with the soul-controlling power systems of the 'Bleach' world, this new acquisition would be monumental.
It could even be said that...
If Kaido and Linlin successfully claimed these two worlds, the Chamber's inventory would grow so diverse and powerful that it could satisfy everyone's needs!
There would no longer be any need for custom transactions.
Because the world Kaido had entered...
Was none other than a rich and complete...
Magical world!
...
...
In a different time and space lies the world of Earth Land.
Location: The Kingdom of Fiore.
This is a world brimming with magic.
Here, everyone has the potential to harness the mysterious power of magic—whether gifted by nature or acquired through rigorous practice. Magic is deeply woven into the fabric of everyday life.
Some individuals, blessed with extraordinary talent, have used magic to rise to prominence, becoming awe-inspiring figures admired by countless people.
These powerful individuals dedicate themselves to solving problems for others through various requests, earning rewards in the process.
Such individuals are revered across the land as 'Mages'.
Generally speaking, mages must join a guild and be certified before they can accept official requests.
Because of this...numerous prominent mage guilds exist in the world of Earth Land.
Among them, Fairy Tail stands as one of the most renowned guilds in the Kingdom of Fiore.
At this very moment...a grand duel is underway in the Fairy Tail Guild, located in the heart of Magnolia Town.
As always, Fairy Tail upholds one of its core principles:
Unrestrained freedom!
Inside the guild hall, a lively crowd of mages had formed a massive circle around a table. Cheers and chants echoed through the air as they excitedly watched two individuals seated at the center.
Kaido, who now appeared youthful at just 17 years old, gulped down a mug of strong liquor as if it were water.
With a resounding 'bang', he slammed the empty mug onto the table, leaving a circular dent in the solid wood.
He then burst into thunderous laughter:
"Worororororo!"
"Oh, wow, wow, wow, wow!!!"
"No way! Elfman?! Don't tell me you're already down after just a few drinks!"
"I think the title of 'Beast Arm' should be changed to 'Soft Wrist!' Hahaha!"
Around him sat 16 or 17 massive wooden barrels, each one emptied long ago, leaving behind only the faint scent of liquor.
Across from him, a white-haired man—Elfman—was struggling to hold himself upright, his arms trembling under his weight. His bleary eyes flickered open, his voice slurred as he tried to speak:
"If... you're a real man... let's... settle this... with fists... not liquor..."
However...
the battle was already over.
After a few moments of resistance, the potent alcohol overtook Elfman's willpower. With a dull thud, his body slumped forward onto the table, completely unconscious.
As Elfman's head hit the table, a white-haired woman with a sunny smile approached. It was Mirajane, brimming with energy and charm.
After verifying that Elfman was thoroughly knocked out, she showed no leniency, even though he was her younger brother.
Raising Kaido's arm high, she declared in a loud, triumphant voice:
"I declare..."
"The winner of Fairy Tail Guild's 729th Drinking Contest is…Kaido!"
"WOOOOAAAAAHHHH!!!"
The hall erupted in deafening cheers, the sound reverberating so powerfully it seemed the roof might fly off.
Within moments, guild members surrounded Kaido, their faces lit with admiration.
"That's incredible, Kaido! Winning three contests in a row—are you sure you didn't use magic to cheat?"
"Unbelievable! With that small body of yours and never needing to use the bathroom, how on earth did you drink so much?!"
"With drinking skills like that at your age, you'll definitely become a cornerstone of Fairy Tail someday! Hahaha!"
Their words flowed endlessly, a mix of awe and humor.
Kaido, the unexpected champion of the Fairy Tail Guild, had cemented his place among his peers—not only as a powerful mage but as the reigning king of their drinking contests.
Kaido basked in the lively atmosphere of the guild, his laughter booming as he reached out for yet another barrel of wine.
Punching a hole into the side of the barrel with a single strike, he lifted it to his mouth and drank greedily, like a man who hadn't tasted water in days.
The guild erupted into even louder cheers, their voices reverberating throughout the hall.
This...
This was Fairy Tail!
A guild of mages where freedom and unrestrained revelry reigned supreme.
But why was Kaido here? And how had he come to join the ranks of Fairy Tail?
To explain that, we must go back to the time he first arrived in this world, just a few months ago.
A few months ago...
Using Leo's immense power, Kaido had successfully crossed the barrier between worlds and found himself in a dense forest near the town of Magnolia.
Like most travelers crossing into unknown worlds, Kaido discovered upon arrival that he was extraordinarily weak.
Once, he had possessed strength so great that he could change the course of events with a single gesture.
But now...
he couldn't even muster the strength to pick up a brick and throw it.
To make matters worse...
the dense forests of the Fairy Tail world teemed with magical creatures, each brimming with dangerous power.
Even though this forest was close to a town and populated with relatively low-level creatures, they were still far beyond what the weakened Kaido could handle.
Before he had even fully processed the fact that he had crossed into another world, Kaido's misfortune struck.
A rabbit appeared in his path.
At first, Kaido dismissed the creature, thinking it was nothing more than a harmless little animal.
But the rabbit, unfazed by Kaido's lack of fear, opened its mouth and shot a flaming magic fireball directly at him.
Kaido, caught completely off guard, watched in horror as the fireball struck his chest.
The sheer force of the attack sent him flying two or three meters, slamming into the ground.
His chest, scorched by the fireball, now bore a charred, gaping wound.
If Kaido had been at full strength, such an attack wouldn't have even scratched him.
But now...
as he lay on the ground, dazed and in pain, a desperate thought crossed his mind:
'Is this it? Am I going to die right after crossing over?'
'And at the hands of a damn rabbit!?'
Recalling the advice Leo had given him about traveling to other worlds, Kaido realized...
there was no contingency plan for his current predicament.
'Am I going to be the first dimensional merchant to die in another world? A cautionary tale for future travelers?!'
With a grimace, Kaido forced himself to his feet.
The burning pain in his chest was agonizing, but for a man who had fought countless battles on the open sea, pain like this was trivial.
What truly mattered was survival.
Steeling his resolve, Kaido pushed his frail body forward, stumbling into the dense forest like a panicked, headless fly.
Behind him, the magical rabbit gave chase, evidently entertained by its "prey."
The rabbit's relentless attacks left Kaido's body covered in burns and scorched marks, as though he had been cooked over an open flame.
But Kaido's stubborn will refused to let him fall.
He clung to the hope that with enough time, his physical strength would begin to recover.
Desperation pushed him forward as he scanned his surroundings, searching for anything that might buy him a few more precious moments of life.
Just as Kaido thought his luck had completely run out...
a young man with short, cherry-red hair appeared before him, almost as if summoned by fate.
With a single, effortless motion, the young man unleashed a burst of flames, incinerating the magic rabbit in an instant.
He frowned at him and said, "Brother, didn't the town guard warn you? People without magic shouldn't walk through this undeveloped jungle!
Even if you want to take a shortcut, is it really worth betting your life on it?"
It was clear the young man was deeply dissatisfied with Kaido's reckless actions, which had put him in such danger.
However...
Before Kaido could even respond, the strain of pushing his weakened body too far caught up with him. As the adrenaline wore off and his injuries took their toll, his vision blurred.
He rolled his eyes and collapsed, unconscious, right in front of the young man.
And so...
With the help of this kind-hearted boy, Kaido was brought to a nearby magician's guild known as 'Fairy Tail', where he received treatment from the guild's skilled magicians.
By the time Kaido regained consciousness, some of his strength had returned. While he wasn't back to full power, he was no longer so weak that he couldn't even fend off a magic rabbit.
During his recovery, he spoke with the magician who had healed him and learned more about this strange new world—a world teeming with magic.
Kaido wasn't entirely unfamiliar with the concept of magic.
During his training as a dimensional merchant, he had been exposed to many different power systems across various dimensions and timelines.
Naturally, he had some understanding of basic magic systems.
However...
He soon discovered that the magic of this world was unlike any he had encountered before.
Driven by curiosity and a need for information, Kaido expressed his desire to remain in the Fairy Tail guild to learn more.
But his request was politely declined by the magician who treated him.
According to the elderly magician, Fairy Tail was a guild specifically for magicians. Only those with magical abilities—and particularly strong ones—were qualified to stay.
She wasn't trying to cast him out maliciously.
In fact, her concern was for Kaido's safety.
The daily life of Fairy Tail guild members was chaotic and often involved sudden brawls, wild magic, and dangerous adventures. Someone without magic, like Kaido appeared to be, would be easily injured or worse.
For his own good, the magician advised him to leave once his recovery was complete.
But Kaido was determined to stay.
In order to secure his place in the guild and gather more information about the world, he decided to take a bold risk and display his so-called "magical talent."
Standing before the magicians, Kaido demonstrated his ability to transform his right hand into a dragon-like claw.
This idea came to him after glancing out a nearby window, where he saw a mage transforming into a humanoid beast during a sparring match with the cherry-haired boy who had rescued him.
From what Kaido observed, the magic in this world seemed to allow people to transform their bodies into beastly forms, similar to the Zoan-type Devil Fruit abilities he knew from his original world.
So, he decided to mimic this magic by showcasing his own ability.
Unexpectedly...
Kaido's demonstration left the magician who treated him completely stunned.
Before long, the guild master of Fairy Tail was summoned.
The small, wise-looking figure joined the magician in examining Kaido, observing him intently while asking him countless questions.
They repeatedly requested that Kaido display his transformation ability, which he obliged, shifting his hand into a dragon-like claw over and over.
To maintain his cover, Kaido employed the "feigned amnesia" tactic Leo had taught him. He pretended to have no knowledge of his abilities or even his past, answering every question with a mix of confusion and vagueness.
As using his transformation power didn't harm him in any way, he complied without hesitation, repeatedly morphing parts of his body into dragon-like features.
After much deliberation and discussion, the guild master and the magician came to a conclusion:
Kaido was a powerful 'Dragon Slayer Wizard'!
They speculated that the reason for his "amnesia" and weakened state was due to the side effects of overusing dragon-slaying magic, which had begun transforming his body into that of a dragon.
Regardless of the details, this diagnosis secured Kaido's place within the guild.
And so...
The "amnesiac" Kaido officially passed the test and joined Fairy Tail as a magician, solidifying his position in this lively and magical new world!
