Toman's Black Cat

Chapter 81: Shut up

Y/n's POV

I walked out the door with my head down as I tried to process everything that had happened.

"Hey."

I whipped around at the familiar voice to see the Haitani brothers standing part way in the alley. I walked over to them keeping my head down as I tried to figure out what to say. The silence must've been deafening to all of us.

"It's fine if you hate us." Rindo's words felt like blades as he began walking past me.

"I don't hate you guys." The words came out of my mouth before I could even think. "I could never do something like what you both did but I could never hate you." Hot tears poured down my cheeks as I did my best to be honest. "What you guys did sucked and they could've died!"

I shifted to look at the pair in front of me. "If you had done that, I would've lost all of you at the same time! Did you think of that?"

"Why should you care?" Rindo's words put fire into my soul all at once.

"I don't need a reason to care. Whether you get it or just want to continue to be a cold jerk toward me is your problem. It won't change that I still care." With that I turned to stomp away.

I hadn't even made it that far when a pair of arms came around me from behind. I saw a braid out of the corner of my eye as I felt his breathing against the side of my face. "I really hope…." He pulled me closer to him as he tried to finish speaking. "I hope you won't regret caring…." He didn't immediately let go.

I hate that he hurt my friend….but even still…

I raised one of my hands to hold both of his around my waist but moved my other to softly touch his face.

I hate what he did…but…

I turned so I could focus on his features as I spoke. "I meant it, Ran. I don't hate you." I watched as he closed his eyes as I lightly caressed his face. Seeing him like this for even a moment made me very aware of what I kept wanting to stop doing.

I'm going to help them. I won't stop, no matter what it costs me.

"You're totally in love with me, huh?" His question came out as soft chuckle, making me smile before replying in confidence.

"Shut up, Ran." I gave a soft kiss to his cheek before walking away.

Even though I know what I'm fighting for, I'm still so scared. I think something worst is coming…

I rubbed at my eyes as the stress from the events of the day wore down my energy the further I tried to walk. I ended up bumping into someone, but before I could look, my face was covered and I felt myself quickly slip into unconsciousness.
