Through Blind Eyes

Chapter 3: Focus!

He woke up in the morning, feeling hot and grouchy, but him being grouchy wasn't really much of a shock, he always did. He felt disgusting and sweaty, as he'd been in the same clothes for days. He didn't use the shower because he had nothing to change into, and he probably smelled rank. That aside the first thing he went to do was to brush his teeth. He had no toothbrush? His teeth looked alright though? He walked out of the bathroom feeling disgusting and he just knew that if he didn't get a toothbrush soon, heart disease and infection would be waiting for him, though death felt nice, he didn't want to die again, it'd ruin all of his plans! That aside he waited outside of his house, waiting for a public carriage to pass by so he could wave them down, one soon passed by, he waved it down, gave them 1 pousher and hopped on. The whole carriage ride was uneventful and silent, except that he had a strange feeling of eyes watching him, not eyes like passer-bys looking into the carriage, but eyes that watched him everywhere, following him, eyes that were omnipresent and knew everything, like a million eyes, just staring him down. When he arrived at the "Zimmerman institution for medical school" he was met with a castle-like building, and thousands of students in blue scrubs and green scrubs and white lab jackets with deep pockets, carrying at least three different books on the human body and the brain and all that good stuff, though the books on the brain were relatively smaller than the books on the human body, as they did not know much on the brain, not even in the era he had previously been in knew that much about the brain, but they knew significantly more. But all in all the books were small, even the book on the body was small, well, relatively small for a textbook, especially a medical one. But he had to remind himself over and over that they didn't know the functions of all organs. Maybe some, but not all. But what he found very strange was that some were in blue scrubs, the others green, the others green with white lab coats, then blue with white lab coats, he had noticed this trend beforehand when he first saw the school but the more he thought about it the more... organized..? It looked, at first he assumed that it was just students trying to be different. When he got to the office, he asked the lady what the strange fashion trend was, she answered impatiently that the ones in green were in their first year, the ones in blue were in their second, and so on. So what he got from that conversation was that green was bad and blue was good, though, it was ironic because green was his favorite color. Next he asked about the test, and why students were already here if the tests were just starting. Apparently Belle was misinformed or just hated him enough to lie, they'd been doing tests all week and today was the last day. She then pointed him in the direction of a classroom, it was about 12:30 pm and the tests took place at 12:40, which was a really random time, anyways, he walked into the classroom and was greeted by people of different social standings, from different places, and different..well.. everything! Well, greeted wasn't the right words either, more like glared at. Whatever. He wondered why there were so many people here with different backgrounds, this wasn't even a famous school or anything, just an average school with average people, the most famous school was way bigger than this and had way more people. He had heard of it from Belle, but he wasn't cocky enough to try, not brave enough or anything. He'd rather go to a second rate academy with more chance of being safe than go to a huge academy with more of a chance of being killed. All over the news were people from the medical schools were being killed maliciously, but presumably not by human beings , they were killed in the most grotesque ways possible, ranging from having all of their skin missing, no eyes or just reduced to a pile of bloody, rotting, and disgusting mush, he never seen any monsters, so what killed them, he wouldn't know. But that definitely scared him enough to shrink back and hide his knowledge that was what would be considered very advanced in this era. In this epoch modern medicine would be considered witchcraft, maybe even impossible to them. All he was thinking about was how he was gonna do something about the technology here, sure he'd seen a couple of engineering shows and read more than a few books, as that was his childhood dream, but reading was a lot different than actually building it, its like asking someone who read a few books on surgery to perform one, it would just end up terribly. That aside, the test was starting, and he had to be ready, after all he was forgetful, because what kind of idiot who landed in med school not recognize the tell-tale scent of poison being disguised in food/drinks?! I know the answer, they don't! That was just something that Sunni was dumb enough to do! Okay, he kept getting off track, now was the time to focus.
