Chapter 115

‘W-What the…!’

Why was Eugene here?

It wasn’t exactly a problem that Eugene had come to my room. With various circumstances leading to him staying at the main house, it was now a more comfortable environment where he could visit my room freely.

‘But that doesn’t mean he can just barge in unannounced!’

If it had been Leonid, who often did strange things, or Axel, who treated my room like his own, I wouldn’t have been surprised. But Eugene wasn’t like them—he wasn’t an impudent kid who didn’t know the basics of etiquette.

“I didn’t know you were inside. I ran into a maid outside, and she said no one was here….”

Noticing my startled and puzzled expression, Eugene quickly offered an explanation.

“I brought some flowers to place on your desk. I thought I’d just put them down and leave right away….”

Now that he mentioned it, I finally noticed the pretty flowers Eugene was holding. They were arranged simply in a clear glass vase, their colors vibrant and varied. It was immediately clear that Eugene had arranged them himself, without any help from others.

As Eugene and I stood there, frozen in place, a voice interrupted us.

“Oh my!”

Rose suddenly appeared behind Eugene.

Fortunately, Oink had already finished devouring all the coins that had poured down from the sky.

“When did you return, my lady?”

“…Just a little while ago. Didn’t Lily tell you?”

I had called Lily as soon as I returned to the room and specifically instructed her not to let anyone in until I called for them.

I glared at Rose, filled with a sense of injustice, but she tilted her head in confusion.

“I just got back from the market where I was buying some treats, so I haven’t heard anything yet… Was there something you needed to tell me?”

“There was, but it’s no longer necessary.”

I sighed and let my shoulders droop.

Rose and Daisy often went out to the market to buy cakes or cookies to accompany tea. The snacks made in the Elpinard kitchen were delicious, but the cakes and cookies from the market were also a special treat we couldn’t resist.

On any other day, I would have been delighted by Rose’s news, but right now, I was more concerned with the situation I needed to address.

“Eugene, come inside. You can’t just stand there.”

As I beckoned Eugene to enter, Rose finally realized her mistake and flinched. She had let a guest into the room without knowing if the lady of the house was present—a significant oversight. If I had been in the middle of changing clothes or something similar, it would have been a serious issue.

‘Although, I was involved in something secretive, just in a different sense…’

As I sighed deeply again, Rose quickly bowed her head.

“I’m terribly sorry, my lady! I should have checked inside before letting Master Eugene in… I was so sure no one was here… Master Eugene said he just wanted to leave a gift and go….”

I could understand how the situation had become so tangled.

“Still, I’ll have to tell Lily that you made a mistake.”

“Yes, of course. I’ll report it myself and accept any punishment!”

Relieved to know she had my forgiveness, Rose lifted her head with a bright smile.

“Shall I prepare some tea with the cake I just bought?”

“Yes, please.”

“Right away!”

Rose responded energetically as usual and hurried off.

Unlike Lily, who was meticulous and cautious, Rose’s charm lay in her lively personality, even if she could be a bit clumsy at times.

‘And this time, the timing was strangely bad…’

As that thought crossed my mind and I started to turn my head towards Eugene, a message window flashed before my eyes.

[Message from Heaven]

(Notification) ‘Blessing of Love’ Activated!

The ‘Blessing of Love’ will assist in triggering events with a romantic potential based on love! When the affection level of the other person towards you and your affection level towards them exceed a certain threshold, the ‘Blessing of Love’ will activate, triggering a ‘Heart-Pounding, Love Event!’

‘Heart-pounding? What the…?’

I was so shocked that my mouth hung open. The fact that the ‘Blessing of Love’ had such an effect was ridiculous enough, but the idea that it classified Eugene and me as a potential romantic pairing was even more absurd.

I stood there, still gaping, staring at Eugene. He seemed a bit tense, probably from witnessing the bizarre sight of coins falling from the sky, and I couldn’t help but let out a nervous laugh.

‘And how does seeing coins fall lead to a love event?’

As if responding to my incredulity, another message window floated up in front of me. This time, it was a long one.

[Message from Heaven]

(Notification) Dear Lamb, trust in the ‘Blessing of Love’! Isn’t love about becoming the kind of people who can share secrets that cannot be told to others? Open your heart and confide your secrets to your partner! Your mutual affection may increase rapidly…

‘…This is crazy.’

I didn’t even bother reading the entire lengthy message and quickly clicked X to close the window.

‘Can’t I return this blessing?’

Unlike the ‘Blessing of Luck,’ which had been quite helpful, this one seemed utterly useless. No, it was worse than useless—it was actively complicating my life.

And just as if it had read my mind again, another message window appeared.

[Message from Heaven]

(Notification) Divine Blessing Usage Guide

A divine ‘Blessing’ cannot be refused or returned once received.

A divine ‘Blessing’ will automatically activate when certain conditions are met.

If you possess more than five divine ‘Blessings,’ you will be recognized as ‘One Beloved by the Gods’ and will obtain the ‘Radiant Divinity.’

Radiant Divinity?

‘What’s that supposed to be?’

I waited, staring into the air, hoping for more information, but that was the end of the message.

‘I don’t like not knowing what something is…’

Narrowing my eyes, I made a firm decision.

‘From now on, I absolutely must avoid receiving any more divine blessings!’

Divine blessings? Absolutely not!

Just as I mentally shouted this, I looked up and locked eyes with Eugene, who was staring at me with a confused expression.

“…”

“…”

Oops.

I had completely forgotten that Eugene was still here…

I quickly put on a smile and gently tugged on Eugene’s arm.

“Uh, first, sit over here. You must have been really surprised by the coins falling from the sky, right?”

As I carefully watched Eugene’s reaction, he shook his head slightly and smiled.

“I think you were more surprised than I was, Reshia. I was startled too, but… it wasn’t that bad, so I’m okay.”

“Eugene…”

The fact that he was more concerned about my feelings than his own… You really are an angel! If I had to choose the best thing I’ve done since being reborn, I could confidently say it was rescuing this kind-hearted boy from that den of evil.

I sat next to Eugene on the sofa and began to spill my thoughts, more like a lament than a conversation.

“You know, the coins you saw—they’re from Heaven. But you can’t even use them in the real world. The temple takes them all.”

“Really?”

“Absolutely!”

Now that someone was there to listen, the words just flowed out of me. Since Eugene had already seen the divine coins falling from the sky, there was no point in hiding anything. I started ranting about how stingy those Heavenly folks were and gave Eugene a firm warning.

“So, never trust the gods. They’re total scammers, I’m telling you.”

“Reshia. Is it okay for a saintess to say something like that?”

“Of course, because a saintess knows best. Whistleblowers are always the most truthful.”

Eugene let out a small laugh at my serious tone.

“Even saintesses have their troubles, huh?”

After offering me some comfort, Eugene finally set the vase on the table. I realized that he had been holding it the entire time while I had kept him busy with my chatter. Feeling a bit guilty, I quickly thanked him.

“It’s really beautiful. Thank you!”

“No need to thank me. I told you I’d take care of your desk. I thought it would look nice there, so I brought it.”

‘So he really meant it when he said he’d take care of my desk.’

I smiled, thinking that Eugene wasn’t an ordinary kid, as I brought the flower closer to my nose.

“But where did you get this from?”

It was a type of flower I hadn’t seen in the garden before. The fragrant scent was so lovely that it seemed to melt away all my worries.

“From the Ivory Tower. Since I’m staying at the Elpinard estate now, I stopped by to explain the situation.”

“Really? I don’t recall seeing such flowers in the garden there.”

“Oh, it’s not from the garden. I got it from the doctor’s lab.”

“The doctor? From the lab?”

‘Now that he says that… something feels a bit ominous…’

Just as that thought crossed my mind—

Bang!

The flower bud exploded with a loud noise.
