There's definitely something wrong with this murder mystery game

Chapter 469: Recruited a Group of Demons

Third floor corridor, the only apparent difference between the rooms on the right and left sides, is probably the door itself.

The brown lacquered doors appear more upscale than the ordinary dark blue iron doors, even though they both have windows. However, the complexity of the locks on the left side seems to be more substantial.

After inspecting them, the female social worker reached out to twist the round doorknob, only to find that it wouldn't open.

"Sis, it's locked." She turned around, blinking in slight frustration.

The female reporter by her side hadn't expected her to simply twist the doorknob and was taken aback for a moment, then responded, "The keys are probably with the staff from the street office; he was in charge of opening the doors earlier."

"So what do we do now?" The social worker looked at her.

"Think of another way."

"Break it open?"

"..."

The female reporter glanced at the cute girl in front of her, watching as she had already taken out her dark green Bamboo Joint Cane, using the end of the cane to test the position on the round doorknob.

Although the reporter felt that resorting to brute force might be too reckless, watching the other's actions, she suddenly didn't feel like stopping her.

After all, someone had to open the door.

"Bang!"

However, just as the social worker was about to knock the cane against the doorknob, the reporter swiftly grabbed her cane.

Under the social worker's questioning gaze, the reporter tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Wait, I feel this might be a bit too rash. Can you pick locks?"

The social worker shook her head innocently.

"Never mind, I'll do it."

She pulled the social worker back, took a glass marble out of her pocket, and stroked it, the three-centimeter marble transformed into a thin, semi-transparent pick.

Then she inserted the pick into the keyhole of the doorknob, and the marble automatically reshaped to fill the keyhole.

With a slight twist,

"Click."

The door opened, revealing a narrow, dark crack.

The female reporter subconsciously looked at the social worker beside her.

The two stood before the partially opened door, staring at each other for a while, until the intensely curious social worker stretched out her hand on the door panel and pushed hard, leaning in.

"Go in?"

"Yes, let's go in."

The female reporter put the marble away.

As the door was pushed open, the moonlight from the corridor shone in, casting a sharp angle of light on the floor at the doorway.

The sufficient light made the archive room's interior clearer.

Tiny dust particles floated in the air, twisting and turning in the pale, dismal moonlight, the air filled with the musty scent of mold and long-sealed books.

The social worker was the first to go in, swinging her hand to fan away the dust in front of her, curiously looking around.

In contrast, the female reporter was much more cautious.

She first made sure her thinking wasn't affected, then ventured into the archive room, her gaze first landing on the desk by the door, where she looked at the blackened papers on the tabletop.

"Qiming Archive Room Reading Manual."

1. If you have already entered, please take a moment to read through these reading rules.

2. The archives don't just hold information about Qiming Orphanage, they also contain various types of books. You may take photos and browse, but do not scribble, do not excerpt, and do not damage the pages.

3. Do not yell or chase and make noise in the archive room; please keep quiet.

4. The bookshelves in the archive room only contain paper items, no other objects, and certainly no living creatures.

5. If you see a creature other than a human in the archive room, do not stare at it, do not take photos, do not touch, and especially do not let it know that you've seen it.

6. If you violate the fifth rule, please leave the archive room immediately and enter any room that belongs to a caregiver.

7. You will be assigned a new job there.

...

"Wait, come here and read this first."

After the reporter finished reading the rules, she looked up to see that the social worker had already walked next to a bookshelf, promptly called her over in a soft voice.

"Hmm?"

The social worker who was about to reach for a book turned around upon hearing this, came over, and rapidly read through the rules on the paper, nodding obediently, "Oh, got it!"

Watching her carefree and unconcerned demeanor, the reporter pursed her lips but ultimately said nothing.

The archive room was not large, with five rows of bookshelves in the center and an independent bookshelf that reached the ceiling against the wall in the depths of the room. In the corner of this row of shelves, there was also a large printer.

Apart from the desk, there were no chairs.

The female reporter was concerned with her assignment, so after reading the rules, she moved towards the bookshelves, browsing the titles while observing.

The shelves had no classification marks, but similar books were placed together.

From literary classics to biographies, to action comics, there were a few of each type here, it seemed this place was like a small library inside Qiming Orphanage.

The female journalist walked over to the bookshelf against the wall.

There were quite a few blue folders piled up here.

Her eyes lit up, and her gloved right hand pulled out a folder, propping it open with her arm to take a look.

"Qiming Building Construction Plans".

Originally, Qiming Orphanage had only one layer of construction, but after the son of the first dean took over, a minor expansion was done, until it transformed into the present Western-style three-story building.

The folder was thin, lacking any important information.

Still, the journalist went through it before putting it back, then pulled out the folder next to it.

"Qiming Orphanage Expansion Plan".

Construction again?

The journalist raised an eyebrow, patiently read through it, and then went through several more plans related to "Qiming Orphanage" before she finally found something a bit useful.

It was a thick folder, inside were the records of every orphan ever taken in by Qiming Orphanage.

As an orphanage with over a decade of history, Qiming Orphanage had taken in at least hundreds of children. The journalist skimmed through the information from earlier years and flipped to this year's records.

At the forefront was a photo of a boy.

Name: Yueshu.

Gender: Male.

Age: Nine years old.

The boy's features, although not fully developed, already boasted a handsome and delicate appearance, with especially striking amber eyes and a faint, elegant smile at the corners of his mouth.

This pose seemed somewhat similar to that girl.

The journalist frowned slightly and turned the page, and sure enough, she saw the girl's information.

Name: Lina.

Gender: Female.

Age: Nine years old.

She was Yueshu's twin sister.

The close-up photo above bore a striking resemblance to the girl in the blue nun's outfit she just saw in the hallway, only the girl in the photo appeared much sunnier and cheerful.

Great! She had indeed found useful information!

The journalist turned back to the previous page, carefully checked the information about "Yueshu," and the more she read, the stiffer her expression became.

The reason these two children became orphans was that as the older brother, Yueshu had created the situation with his own hands.

Since the children were young, they couldn't be legally prosecuted in this world, and their relatives were unwilling to adopt such a demon, so the two of them ended up sent to Qiming Orphanage.

Their admission date was the new year of this year.

The year when the orphanage met with disaster.

The journalist knitted her brows tightly, and after looking through the information for these two children, she continued to the next page.

Name: Lily.

Gender: Female

Age: Ten years old.

A girl with blue eyes, tied in a high ponytail, smiling very happily and freely.

The girl had arrived at the orphanage a couple of years ago.

The reason she was sent here was that she bullied her nanny and even played a prank by locking the nanny in a freezer, leading to her death, and when discovered by her parents, she did not repent but instead started a fire and took care of her parents as well.

The female journalist was flabbergasted and immediately flipped to the next page.

Name: David.

Gender: Male.

Age: Ten years old.

He was abducted, and then in turn tortured and killed the two kidnappers, frightening his parents into abandoning him.

Name: Mark.

Because his mother wouldn't agree to buy toys, he took matters into his own hands...

The female journalist: "..."

After flipping through several pages of records, the journalist's expression gradually became numb.

In recent years, Qiming Orphanage had simply taken in a bunch of demons, hadn't it?

On the contrary, it seemed miraculous that the orphanage had managed to stay afloat for so long before being brought down.

After all, it was an existence that could suppress these demons.

As the female journalist shook her head, pondering this, suddenly, she received a system notification.
