Chapter 72 - This Is Totally a Lucky Bikini
A line I’ve always wanted to say, ranked #20 on the list of phrases I want to use at least once.
I said it through my manager.
“It seems Chel got really moved while playing Blue Record.”
The performance of the translator (who also doubles as my manager) was excellent.
If I have Rion, I might not even need a smartphone.
“And it seems like she feels the need to share the emotion of Blue Record with everyone.”
“It sounds like some kind of religious solicitation.”
“I’m not going to deny that.”
Chel said. I wish she had denied it, though.
“‘God-tier’ game, you know. So, it’s like a kind of religion.”
Her logic was so exaggerated, it felt like it was about to fly away.
“So, you want to share the fun of Blue Record with me too?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“You do know there are many people in this world besides me, right?”
“I wouldn’t know about other people’s homes.”
It seems Chel has no concept of online interactions in her dictionary.
If she really wanted to promote Blue Record so badly, she could’ve just posted on the EYEAI’s main Discord server. Why was she running around doing it in person?
Just like I had possessed a villainous noblewoman, I wondered if Chel had possessed a medieval merchant.
“It’s fun. Give it a try.”
Chel urged again.
A mobile gacha game, huh.
‘It generally lacks the feel I enjoy.’
Each game has its own unique appeal.
FPS games have the fun of shooting and taking down enemies, AOS games have the thrill of winning lane battles and team fights, sandbox games have the fun of creating automated factories one by one, and so on.
The form of enjoyment differs from game to game.
As for mobile games, their fun generally lies in ‘the thrill when the impossible becomes possible.’
For instance, clearing a stage you were stuck on by changing up your composition, or suddenly being able to defeat a boss you couldn’t beat before.
Perhaps you significantly shorten the clear time of a stage you used to fail repeatedly.
Maybe you finally break through a gimmick you couldn’t overcome, twisting your body in every direction to barely get through it.
Mobile games offer that kind of enjoyment.
‘And the method to overcome such impossibilities is usually money, right?’
There are cases where you can beat it with skill, and some mobile games allow character growth to be the way to win, but…
Generally, it’s a structure where spending money is necessary. After all, game companies release mobile games to make money.
As a result, there’s less emphasis on skill, and the method of enjoyment is different from the games I usually play.
“Why not give it a shot, unnie?”
Rion, who had been quietly listening, suggested.
“If Chel came all this way, it must be really fun, right? To be honest, I’m kind of curious about the story too.”
“You’re curious?”
“Yeah. Blue Record is super famous, but I don’t really know much about it.”
Rion shrugged her shoulders.
“From what I know, streams of Blue Record tend to get a lot of viewers. There are people who specifically search for Blue Record story streams.”
For example, with horror games, some people reportedly scour even small VTubers’ streams.
That’s why they say horror games bring in good view counts.
When you enjoy a movie or drama, you want to share your thoughts with others, or you want to know how others felt about it.
And if someone expresses the emotions you expected, there’s a peculiar satisfaction that comes from it.
That’s why people go to community sites.
And when that’s not enough, they seek out streamers. Streamers enjoy the content live and give instant reactions, so you get to experience the ‘rawest emotions.’
Especially with horror or story-driven games, this is said to be the best way to enjoy them.
“I’m not really a fan of gacha games, though.”
“Really? But unnie, you love spending money.”
“Maintaining my dignity is, of course, an essential skill for a noblewoman. I just don’t like testing my luck.”
“…? Have you ever had bad luck, unnie?”
Rion tilted her head.
“If you look at it overall, I guess I’m somewhat lucky.”
When I have bad luck, it’s terrible. When I have good luck, it’s fantastic. When I have average luck, it’s just normal.
It may sound like I’m just like everyone else, but it probably doesn’t feel that way in reality.
“If you want to try it, go ahead. But you take the lead.”
I leaned back in the chair and crossed my arms.
Rion looked puzzled but soon started setting things up with Chel.
Three phones were set up for tracking: mine, Chel’s, and Rion’s.
Basically, I didn’t plan to do anything for this Blue Record stream. I was just going to enjoy the story.
“Unnie, we’re all set.”
“Then go ahead.”
“No, I mean… it’s your channel, unnie.”
“Why don’t you handle the greetings since you’re at it? And introduce yourself and manage the stream too.”
“But you’re the channel owner, unnie?”
Rion muttered something, but I didn’t respond. It’s a gacha game, so I just couldn’t muster up the enthusiasm.
Since I stayed motionless, Rion had no choice but to put on the headset with an awkward smile.
“Nya… Nyanyanya! I’m Nekozuka Rion, the Nekomimi Princess from the Cat Planet, nyan!”
-?
-Gokigenyo..?
-How are you, nyan?
-What happened to our lady?
-Where did the princess go, and why is there a catgirl all of a sudden…?
-You skipped out again, didn’t you..?
“Unnie, say something, please.”
“The tea is delicious, so brew me another cup.”
“You really have no intention of leading this stream, huh, you…”
Rion brewed another pot of tea, and the stream began.
Chel introduced herself and explained why we were streaming Blue Record. There was no real need to introduce Chel on my channel, but it’s kind of an unwritten rule for VTubers to introduce themselves on any channel they appear on.
Rion also explained that she was joining the stream because she was working from home today. As Blue Record launched, I simply observed.
-Was this Rion’s channel all along?
-She usually talks so much, but now she’s silent?
-A VTuber’s not supposed to have dead air!
-I can’t hear Laura’s voice! I think the volume needs to be turned up!
-I love it when she slacks off♡♡ Give us more♡♡♡
There were viewers desperately asking for me, but it was a regular occurrence, so I ignored them.
If I stayed quiet, the Blue Record story would eventually start.
The prologue wasn’t bad.
“The story seems pretty average, but the world-building is unique.”
“Prologue stories are usually average.”
Chel suddenly spoke up.
“Gacha games often have complex world-building. The protagonist needs to gather characters from gacha, so their role is usually something significant like a tactical commander or humanity’s savior. Naturally, the enemy they face also has to be huge for balance, making the world-building complex. That’s why it would take ages to explain the entire world in the prologue. So instead, the prologue tends to focus on setting the tone and showcasing the gameplay.”
-Rapping, lol
-She’s spitting fire, lol
-Why’s she suddenly talking so much?;;
-She’s usually quiet, so it’s kinda scary when she talks this much…
Apparently, my comment about the prologue being average rubbed Chel the wrong way.
Chel began pouring out words so fast it startled the viewers.
“Blue Record’s world-building is complex like other games, but its strength lies in its familiarity. It’s similar to modern-day with a slight fantasy twist, making it relatable but just different enough to pique interest. So, rather than focusing on the story in the prologue, you should focus more on the world-building.”
“Alright, alright, I get it. Now, quiet down. My ears are starting to hurt.”
“Do you really get it?”
This obsessive Blue Record fanatic… is this a possession story?
But, well, I understood what Chel was trying to say.
Just like she mentioned, gacha games (excluding idol-raising games) tend to have large-scale, complex world-building. Many of them are heavy, but Blue Record is indeed more accessible.
‘A world where guns are as commonplace as smartphones, huh?’
A high school girl was casually carrying a shotgun around.
It wasn’t some gritty, harsh atmosphere like a harem novel, though; it was a laid-back, easy-going harem story.
The prologue story wasn’t particularly groundbreaking, but it left a good impression, which could be considered a success.
In web novels, if the beginning isn’t interesting, people will drop it immediately, but that’s not the case with mobile games. Since people already spent time downloading the game, they usually at least go through a gacha pull before deciding to quit.

“Blue Record allows you to reroll 10 times.”
The Blue Record maniac, Chel Sumeragi, started explaining about the gacha.
“You can reroll 10 times to get the best results. There’s always at least one 5-star character.”
“Are there any essential 5-star characters?”
“There are good ones, but there isn’t any must-have character in the reroll phase. They’ll be overshadowed by limited characters anyway.”
“So, it’s just good if you get multiple 5-star characters. Rion, you handle the gacha pull.”
“But this is your account, unnie… Shouldn’t you at least pull the gacha?”
Rion, who had been controlling the stream, said.
“If I do it, it won’t be very exciting.”
“…? What do you mean?”
“Watch and see.”
I pressed the gacha button.

-Not a single 4-star, lol
-I’ve seen this screen before
-No luck at all, lol
“Didn’t you say you were lucky earlier, unnie?”
“I never actually said that.”
I was indifferent.
After all, I was the villainous noblewoman.
If you ask most people, “Is the villainous noblewoman a lucky character?” they’d probably tilt their heads. Some might even say she’s unlucky.
In reality, my luck was just mediocre, or maybe slightly bad.
However, a villainous noblewoman is a character that persistently harassed the protagonist.
That’s why she often gets dragged down to the abyss, only to suddenly resurrect.
So, I had a strong sense of misfortune.
“Huh? What is this?”
Rion gasped.

-?
-????
-What kind of gacha rigging is this?
-What the heck
10 consecutive pulls, 4 five-star characters.
Looking at the predicted outcome, I wasn’t particularly excited.
I let out a small sigh, picked up my phone, and called Inagika.
[H-Hello…? L-Laura…? What’s up…?]
Had she been sleeping this whole time? Inagika’s voice was groggy. It was 3 PM, though.
I set the phone to speaker so the viewers could hear Inagika’s voice as well.
“Inagika, repeat after me.”
[Huh? S-Suddenly…?]
“Repeat after me: ‘This is totally a lucky bikini.'”
[Uh, uh… This is totally a lucky bikini…?]
“Thank you.”
-Click
I hung up the phone.
“Rion, continue the stream.”
