The Vice Captain of the WhiteBeard Pirates

Chapter 240: Chaos & Battle

[ Third Person POV ]

Ohara, West Blue

Kuzan was conflicted.

He had always been a resolute man whose heart was firm on justice, but the orders that his Admiral just relayed were far from it. The only context that had been given to him when he was arriving to perform the Buster Call was that the people of Ohara had violated a World Government Policy that warranted the Buster Call.

Kuzan didn't mind it because only the most serious of crimes warranted a Buster Call. Meaning that they had to have been some truly fucked up individuals to get a Buster Call ordered on them.

However, what he had seen and was seeing at the moment said otherwise. The residents of Ohara didn't look harmful. To begin with, Kuzan had scanned the place with his observation of Haki and hadn't seen anything threatening coming from them. This suspicion only grew when he noticed that his friend, Vice-Admiral Jaguar, had been standing in front of a child.

"What's going on here?" Kuzan asked curiously.

"Hm? Good, another one! Bring that brat over here immediately. Then kill him for insubordination!" The one leading the World Government agents immediately ordered Kuzan.

"Kuzan, they're going to bombard an island full of historians for deciphering the Poneglyph texts, are you really about to sit here and let that happen?" Jaguar pleaded to his long-time friend.

"They're still the World Government, you know?" Kuzan replied, "Admiral Sengoku had said before that their orders take priority over others."

"These are innocents, Kuzan! Do you really think an island that's full of weak individuals has the potential to oppose the World Government?!" Jaguar argued.

Now Kuzan was in a moral dilemma; there was a choice that he had to make: Side with the world government or side with his longtime friend and what his concept of justice should be.

There was no doubt that Jaguar's words held weight in the current situation. When he scanned the entire island earlier, there were no signs of any strong individuals who could pose a threat to the island. So why use a Buster Call? With their forces, they could have easily arrested the entire island and taken them to Enies Lobby for sentencing.

"Can you shut the hell up?!" The leader of the World Government agents roared, "What the World Government has in mind whenever we give orders to you dogs should always be followed without question! Now hand over that brat, now!!!"

Kuzan was beginning to dislike the tone that the leader of the World Government agents had been using.

"You know what? Since you all don't want to do your jobs...." The leader of the World Government agents immediately got on a call and started barking some orders as soon as the line connected. There wasn't much more conversation, and he hung up with a triumphant look.

"I just contacted some Cipher Pol agents nearby; they'll be arriving here shortly to execute the orders that I have given. Then I'll have both of you executed for resisting the orders of the World Government and gross insubordination," The World Government leader chuckled.

The bombardment soon started, and it didn't take long for the entire island to be engulfed in flames. Jaguar knew that the window of opportunity to set Robin free from all this conundrum was beginning to close.

He set Nico Robin free and sent her running towards the Civilian ship, and Boris made his prompt arrival.

Absolutely asserting dominance over the entire situation and killing the World Government agents that had proven to be a thorn in Kuzan's and Jaguar's side.

After receiving Sengoku's orders, though, he still felt conflicted about the best course of action. However, while he contemplated that, Boris kept on fighting it out with Sakazuki.

[ Boris POV ]

I dodged the lava meteorites that Sakazuki kept sending my way.

Nico Robin was still running off with the Jaguar, and Kuzan was still standing, still thinking about something. The only person who was bothering me at the time was Sakazuki.

"Why do you dodge like a coward?! Do you have no shame as a warrior?!" Sakazuki roared as he kept swinging his fists.

I kept dodging until I found a great opportunity to kick him away. It was then that Kuzan finally decided to take action.

"Sorry for the wait...Sakazuki...Let's take this bastard down!!" Kuzan shouted as he flung more ice spears at me.

I easily weaved and dodged all the spears, but I noticed much too late that Kuzan had frozen my feet and the ground around me.

My Observation Haki screamed at me to turn around; I quickly broke free from the ice, only to find myself facing a huge magma claw that was clad in Armament haki. I caught the claw just before it tried to pry through my chest. Looking at Sakazuki's eyes that burned with hatred, I quickly ducked before a huge ball of ice froze Sakazuki's face.

I kicked him right in the chest to create some space between us and turned to face Kuzan, who immediately began to fling more balls of ice right at me. Only for me to continue dodging them.

"If you're going to resolve yourself and fight me...." I muttered before using Soru and appeared right in front of him.

Kuzan's eyes widened as he tried to back away from me, but I grabbed him right in the face before slamming him right to the ground.

He immediately began freezing my arm, but I simply broke free with my lightning. I lifted him up before tossing him high in the sky.

"Fight me up close and personal!" I grunted as I leaped from the ground and kicked him right in the stomach, unintentionally sending him right where Jaguar and Robin had currently been hiding.

'shit'

I didn't want to involve the two of them in this altercation; Jaguar wouldn't have the strength to fight Kuzan off while protecting Robin at the same time.

However, this might be for the better, in the distance, right ahead of where Jaguar and Robin had been hiding. I saw a flood of Cipher Pol agents rush into the frame. Some of them had haki, and they clearly led them to where Jaguar and Robin were.

"Boris!!!" Sakazuki lunged right at me with his lava-coated fist. He was also accompanied by numerous lava meteors right next to him as he approached me.

"Move..." I grunted as I swung my axe downwards.

He wanted to dodge the swing, but I laced the swing with a bit of haki in order to reach him completely. It worked, too, pushing him back a bit before I appeared right in front of him.

With a simple punch to the face, I ended up sending him right to where Robin and Jaguar had been as well. That way, I could have handled all the nuisances at once. I appeared right to where Jaguar and Robin were, only to find Jaguar fighting off, or trying to, the World Government agents. In one of his hands, Nico Robin remained hidden from all the happenings of the outside.

The poor fella was too big to immediately react to the sneak attacks that the World Government would send at him simultaneously. As a result, he was constantly bombarded with numerous Finger bullets, seastone bullets, and, for some strange reason, Haki-clad weapons as well.

I called the Haki using World Government agents strange because it was rare to see their types efficient in using haki. The World Government often kept close Government agents who had the ability to use Haki. Which was why I came to find the entire scenario weird.

I immediately appeared in front of Jaguar, who had been bleeding from various areas in his body.

The World Government agents did not hesitate and immediately rushed at me. Making it easy for me to simply swing my blade and lop all their heads off at once. However, some of the World Government agents, the ones who had been able to use haki in particular, had intentionally stayed back and watched the rest die.

"It's been quite some time....Storm Dragon..." One of them stepped up and slowly removed the mask that hid his face.

"You...." For the first time in a while, my eyes widened a bit.
