The Ultimate Soldier

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: A Year in the Frontline

Chapter 2: A Year in the Frontline

One year on the frontline had hardened even the best soldiers, but for Simon August Jenner, it had forged him into a legend. His reputation had grown beyond borders, whispered across camps and command centers alike. No mission was too dangerous, no enemy too fierce. Where others faltered, Simon thrived.

The battlefield had become his second home, and every day was a test of his unparalleled abilities. His Observation Haki kept him one step ahead of ambushes and sniper fire, while his Armament Haki turned his every strike and shot into a weapon of pure destruction. The Desert Eagles bonded to his soul had become extensions of his very being, delivering justice with precision and grace.

A Routine Mission

The war had shifted in recent months. The enemy, desperate and beaten, had turned to guerrilla tactics, relying on ambushes and traps to slow the allied advance. Simon sat in the back of a transport truck with his squad, their faces weary but determined.

"Major," Captain Reyes began, breaking the silence. "This mission is different. We're heading into one of their strongholds. They've been using civilians as human shields. Command wants precision—minimal collateral damage."

Simon leaned forward, his crimson eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. "We'll do it clean," he said, his voice calm yet resolute. "But make no mistake—they won't see tomorrow."

Reyes nodded, reassured by the Major's unwavering confidence.

The Stronghold

The stronghold was a small, fortified village surrounded by dense jungle. Observation drones had identified heavy enemy activity, with civilian hostages kept in makeshift barracks. Simon and his team approached under the cover of darkness, their movements silent and precise.

Simon activated his Observation Haki, the world around him slowing to a crawl as he mapped out every enemy position, every hidden sniper, and every tripwire. He raised a hand, signaling his squad to halt.

"Three guards on the north perimeter," he whispered. "Sniper in the east tower. Claymore mines by the main gate. I'll clear the perimeter. Hold position."

Before anyone could protest, Simon vanished into the shadows.

A Ghost in the Night

Moving with the grace of a predator, Simon dispatched the guards one by one. A swift chokehold here, a silenced shot there—his actions were flawless, each movement honed by a year of constant combat. When he reached the sniper tower, he climbed it in seconds, his powerful body making the task effortless.

The sniper never saw him coming. A quick strike with Armament Haki ended the threat, and Simon signaled for his team to move in.

A Show of Power

The assault was surgical. Simon led the charge, his Desert Eagles blazing. Every bullet found its mark, tearing through enemy defenses with terrifying efficiency. His squad followed, inspired by his leadership and skill.

When they reached the hostage barracks, they found a group of terrified civilians huddled together. Simon knelt before them, his crimson eyes softening.

"You're safe now," he said, his voice gentle. "Stay here until we secure the area."

As the team escorted the civilians to safety, the remaining enemy forces launched a desperate counterattack.

The God of War

Simon stepped forward, his Desert Eagles holstered. This fight required something different. As the enemy charged, he activated his Armament Haki, his fists glowing with dark energy.

The first wave of attackers fell like leaves in a storm, their weapons useless against his impenetrable defense. Simon moved with the speed of a hurricane, his strikes precise and devastating. Each blow sent shockwaves through the air, leaving the battlefield in ruins.

When the dust settled, Simon stood alone amidst the wreckage, his crimson eyes glowing with quiet fury. His squad approached cautiously, their expressions a mix of awe and disbelief.

"Major Jenner," Reyes said, his voice trembling, "you're... you're not human, are you?"

Simon turned to him, his expression unreadable. "I'm just a soldier," he replied. "Nothing more."

A Legend Grows

By the time the mission ended, Simon's name had spread even further. Stories of his prowess reached not only allied forces but enemy commanders, who began to regard him with fear and respect. He was no longer just a soldier—he was a symbol, a force of nature that turned the tide of war.

But even as his legend grew, Simon kept his secrets close. No one knew the truth of his abilities or his origin, and he intended to keep it that way. For now, he had a war to win.
