Chapter 20: The Ruthless Youth

Smack!

The severed arm hit the ground with a thud, while the guard's screams of agony echoed through the street. Shocked silence enveloped the onlookers, who stared at the burly Mu Zhong in disbelief.

The yellow-robed youth, his bravado crumbling, shrank back in terror but managed to shout, "Kill them all! Don't just stand there—kill them!"

The remaining five guards hesitated briefly, then drew their swords and charged at Mu Zhong and Mu Feng. Yet neither Mu Zhong nor Mu Feng showed a hint of fear, their expressions calm as still water.

"Master Feng, how should I handle this?" Mu Zhong asked with a faint smile, cracking his knuckles.

"Don't kill them—just break an arm each," Mu Feng replied evenly.

"With pleasure."

A blue aura surged around Mu Zhong, forming a visible wave of Yuan energy that rippled out several meters, scattering dust across the street.

Boom!

Mu Zhong shot forward like a cannonball, appearing before the nearest guard in a blink. Grabbing the man's arm, he twisted and yanked it off with a sickening crunch.

Snap!

The guard's bloodcurdling screams filled the air as he crumpled to the ground, clutching the stump where his arm had been.

With a fluid motion, Mu Zhong caught the fallen sword and slashed out a sharp blue blade of energy.

Shing!

The sword beam sliced cleanly through another guard's shoulder, severing his arm. The man fell to his knees, howling in pain.

Mu Zhong moved like a specter, his movements a blur. In mere seconds, the remaining guards each lost an arm, their screams mingling in a gruesome symphony as they collapsed in pools of blood.

One desperate guard tried to launch a sneak attack, swinging his sword at Mu Zhong's back.

Clang!

The blade bounced harmlessly off a shimmering blue barrier—the protective aura of a Condensed Yuan Realm expert.

Before the attacker could retreat, Mu Zhong spun and grabbed his arm.

Slash!

The guard's arm was severed in one clean stroke, his screams echoing through the now-emptying street.

"Is that... protective Yuan energy?"

"Yes! He's a Condensed Yuan Realm master! An Nan City has gained another formidable expert."

"Looks like that yellow-robed boy has provoked the wrong people this time. That man called the youth 'Master Feng'—he must be from a prominent family!"

The onlookers murmured amongst themselves, their gazes darting between the injured guards and the imposing figure of Mu Zhong.

The yellow-robed youth, seeing the carnage, tried to bolt, his face pale with fear.

But Mu Zhong moved with inhuman speed, cutting him off in an instant. The boy slammed into Mu Zhong's chest and fell to the ground, trembling.

"Please don't kill me! Please don't cut off my arm!" he pleaded, his voice shaking.

Mu Zhong dragged the boy back and threw him at Mu Feng's feet like a rag doll.

"Master Feng, he's all yours," Mu Zhong said, bowing slightly.

"Please! Don't kill me! I'll do anything!" the youth begged, his fear palpable. A dark stain spread across his trousers, filling the air with the stench of urine.

Mu Feng's cold gaze bore into the boy. "Now you're begging for your life? Where was this humility earlier? Did that child's life mean nothing to you?"

As his anger boiled, Mu Feng stooped and picked up a blade.

"Master Feng, wait!"

Mu Fu hurried over and whispered, "Master Feng, this boy is Huang Yi, the second young master of the Huang family. His father is a Condensed Yuan Realm powerhouse—peak ninth layer."

"Huang family?" Mu Feng frowned.

"Yes, one of An Nan City's three great families, alongside the Mu branch and the Wang family," Mu Fu explained.

"My father is a Condensed Yuan Realm master! If you harm me, he won't let you live!" Huang Yi blustered, emboldened by the mention of his family.

Mu Feng's lips curled into a cold smile. Without hesitation, he raised the blade and brought it down.

Slash!

Huang Yi's left arm was severed, blood spraying across the cobblestones.

"Ahhh!" Huang Yi shrieked, writhing on the ground in agony.

Mu Feng's voice was icy as he spoke, "Your father's status means nothing to me. The moment you gave the order to kill, you sealed your fate. Actions have consequences. I am not the type to bully the weak or spare the wicked."

The sheer ruthlessness in Mu Feng's tone sent a chill down the spines of everyone present. Even the onlookers, who had seen their share of street fights, couldn't help but shiver.

Mu Cang stood frozen, his face pale as he watched Mu Feng. The earlier mockery he'd directed at the youth now seemed laughable.

He's no cripple. That boy is dangerous, Mu Cang thought, fear creeping into his heart.

The other Mu family members exchanged uneasy glances, their respect for Mu Feng growing despite themselves.

With a clang, Mu Feng tossed the bloodied sword to the ground and retrieved his own blade, tucking it back into his storage ring. Without sparing Huang Yi another glance, he turned and walked away, his companions following suit.

As the Mu family left, the onlookers began to disperse, murmuring among themselves.

"Did you see that? Such decisiveness at his age..."

"Yellow-robed brat got what he deserved. But his family won't take this lying down."

"That young man must be from the main Mu family. When did they raise such a ruthless heir?"

"Feng-ge, you were amazing!" Bai Ziyue exclaimed, practically bouncing as he walked beside Mu Feng. His eyes shone with admiration.

Mu Feng ruffled the boy's hair. "What you saw today is just a fraction of this world's darkness. If you want to survive, you must become stronger—or more ruthless—than your enemies."

"I'll remember that!" Bai Ziyue vowed, his face full of determination.

"Haha, you've got a lot to learn, kid," Mu Kuang said, laughing heartily.

"Oh, like you're any better," Bai Ziyue shot back.

"Why, you little—watch your mouth! I could take you down in my sleep!"

"Yeah? Can you take down Feng-ge?"

"Er... well..."

"See? You can't!"

"You brat! I'll show you who's boss!"

Their playful bickering filled the air as the group walked back toward the Mu estate. Behind them, Huang Yi lay in the dirt, clutching his stump, his face twisted in fury.

"I swear... I'll kill you... all of you!" Huang Yi growled through gritted teeth, his hatred burning like a fire.

"An interesting youth has come to An Nan City," someone murmured from the shadows, their gaze fixed on Mu Feng's retreating figure.
