The Strongest Artist in Naruto

Chapter 46: Chapter 46: "You've Caught My Eye, Handsome"

A fight?

Mei's response surprised everyone. Could this alluring woman actually be a battle maniac?

"Kisame's strength is something I recognize," Mei said, her sharp gaze scanning the group. "But as for the rest of you... I'm not convinced. If you want my support, you'll need to prove you're capable. Without sufficient power to back it up, your plans would be nothing but futile sacrifices." Her expression was serious, eyes steady as they locked onto them.

Kisame glanced at Deidara, who gave a slight nod in response.

"Not a problem. This here is Uchiha Itachi—I'm sure you've heard the name. How about you two have a little spar?" Deidara gestured towards Itachi.

Mei's eyes flicked to Itachi, a playful smile curling her lips.

"Handsome, aren't you?" She lightly covered her mouth with two fingers, her gaze teasing. But then, unexpectedly, her attention shifted back to Deidara.

"However," she continued, her tone turning sharp, "I don't want to fight him. I want to fight you. After all, you seem to be the one calling the shots, right?"

Deidara raised an eyebrow, unfazed by the proposition. Fighting wasn't an issue for him—gathering shock value was always welcome. But his abilities were flashy by nature, and if they fought seriously, they'd definitely attract unwanted attention.

"Don't worry about that!" Mei assured him, sensing his hesitation. "The Ninth Training Ground is my personal practice area. My jutsu tend to be rather destructive, so the village allocated it for my exclusive use. No one will notice, no matter how much damage you cause."

She paused, flashing a sly smile. "I can even set up a soundproof barrier to keep things discreet."

Deidara frowned slightly. "A normal barrier might not hold up," he remarked, his tone almost challenging.

Mei rolled her eyes. "Then just don't go all out, genius. Or is that too much to ask?"

"Wouldn't that be fighting with my hands tied? You're being unreasonable."

"Did your mother teach you to argue with women?" Mei shot back, smirking. Not waiting for his reply, she turned on her heel and walked out.

"Sorry about that!" Chojuro, awkward and embarrassed, muttered an apology on her behalf.

The Ninth Training Ground was located at the very outskirts of Kirigakure, practically beyond the village's boundaries. True to Mei's words, the area was desolate, a barren wasteland of jagged rocks and scorched earth. The dark, reddish-brown patches of cooled magma hinted at her mastery of the Lava Release.

"Let's get started," Mei said, stepping onto the field.

Around the training ground, several Kirigakure shinobi were already setting up a barrier. Outside the field, Kisame, Itachi, Chojuro, Ao, and Sasori stood watching the preparations.

"Now then," Deidara began, a confident smirk on his face. "Let me show you my art—yeah!"

With that, he molded a swarm of clay spiders in his hands and sent them skittering toward Mei.

Mei's expression instantly soured when she noticed the mouths on his palms.

"I thought you were handsome, but..." She sighed dramatically. "What a shame."

Her hands moved swiftly, forming seals. Parting her lips, she unleashed a torrent of molten lava that cascaded down like a fiery waterfall. The lava consumed the clay spiders effortlessly, its heat forcing Deidara to leap back.

"Lava Release: Melting Apparition Technique!"

"Whatever those little bugs of yours are supposed to do," Mei called out, her voice steady, "I have no intention of humoring you with a warm-up. If you've got the skills, show them now. Otherwise, don't blame me if you get melted."

The intense heat dissolved the clay spiders instantly. Deidara, hovering a safe distance away, frowned. He couldn't underestimate her—Mei was a Kage-level opponent, after all.

"C1—Infestation Insects!"

Rising into the sky on a clay bird, Deidara created a swarm of tiny explosive insects. They spread out, descending toward Mei like a deadly rain.

"It's useless," Mei declared, her expression calm. Without flinching, she formed more seals. "I possess water, fire, and earth chakra natures, giving me two Kekkei Genkai. Now, witness the second one!"

"Boil Release: Skilled Mist Technique!"

A dense, high-temperature steam began to spread across the field. As the mist engulfed the clay insects, they dropped from the sky like poisoned flies.

"Two Kekkei Genkai? Impressive," Sasori murmured from outside the barrier, clearly intrigued.

"That's rare, even in the entire ninja world."

"Your friend's in trouble," Ao said smugly. "Those little creations of his are no match for Mei-sama."

"You shouldn't underestimate him," Sasori countered. "Even when holding back, Deidara's art is terrifying. You should be more worried about your Kage."

Ao scoffed, clearly unconvinced.

Within the barrier, Deidara's mind worked rapidly. His larger creations, like the C2 Dragon, were off-limits—they'd attract attention from miles away. And yet, smaller constructs couldn't even approach Mei.

"Tch, what a pain," he muttered, molding more clay.

"C2—Assault Pterodactyl!"

"C1—Gigantic Centipede!"

Dozens of pterodactyls soared above, circling like vultures, while a massive centipede burrowed underground, creeping toward Mei unnoticed.

"Water Release: Water Wall!"

A towering wall of water rose in front of Mei, intercepting the diving pterodactyls. The first few exploded against the wall, creating gaps that allowed more to slip through. They dived toward her relentlessly.

"Mei-sama, watch out!" Chojuro shouted from outside the barrier.

"Calm down, Chojuro," Ao snapped, though his eyes betrayed his own unease.

Inside, Mei quickly unleashed another wave of molten lava, obliterating the pterodactyls mid-flight. But the centipede emerged suddenly from the ground beneath her, coiling around her body before detonating in a fiery explosion.

"Mei-sama!" Chojuro yelled, alarmed.

Ao's white eyes narrowed, assessing the situation.

"Relax," he muttered, though his voice carried a hint of doubt.

"That wasn't her real body."

As the dust settled, Mei appeared unharmed, stepping out from a safe distance. Her eyes sparkled with interest as she looked at Deidara.

"You've caught my eye, handsome," she said, a teasing smile spreading across her face.
