The richest actor in Hollywood.

Chapter 442: Chapter 442: A Sense of Achievement

Bright sunlight illuminated the square behind the fountain. Matthew's newly hired professional driver drove a black Mercedes-Benz G-Class, parking quietly at the steps in front of the door, waiting for the people inside to come out.

After about ten minutes, Eva Green, dressed in a black women's suit, walked out first. As the host, Matthew came out specifically to see her off. As they approached the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Matthew quickened his pace and opened the car door for her.

Eva Green placed her handbag on the car, then turned to look at Matthew. Her eyes, more white than black, seemed to show a hint of reluctance. While she couldn't be certain about other aspects, she had been physically satisfied during this period, unlike with those seemingly tough but weak French men, Matthew was indeed a very good lover.

"I'm going back to France the day after tomorrow," Eva Green said, looking at Matthew. "I'll be in France for a while. If you come to France, you can call me."

Matthew stepped closer and lightly kissed her forehead, saying, "If I go to France, I'll definitely contact you."

Eva Green nodded, turned, and got into the car. Matthew stepped forward to close the door for her, saying before closing it, "Horner Manor is always open for you."

Compared to Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson, his relationship with Eva Green was simpler—purely physical.

Moreover, unlike the other two, he shared a common agent with Eva Green, so they would definitely cross paths often in the future.

Eva Green smiled, her mouth and eyes drooping slightly, and said, "I hope you'll still be a hospitable host then."

With that, she extended her hand to close the car door. Suddenly, Matthew remembered another matter and said, "Don't forget to come to the charity dinner I'm hosting on the 25th of next month."

Eva Green nodded slightly, "I'll be there on time."

Matthew waved into the car, "Goodbye, Eva."

Eva Green also waved at him, "Goodbye, Matthew."

Matthew closed the car door, and the black Mercedes-Benz G-Class slowly started, turning out of the small square between the fountain and the house, driving down the straight road towards the estate's exit.

Standing in the small square, Matthew watched the Mercedes-Benz G-Class drive away, not intending to return inside. Whether last night would be the last time with Eva Green, he couldn't even be sure himself.

This French woman, like her character in movies, was uninhibited and bold.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class soon disappeared at the estate's entrance. Matthew turned and walked towards the garden that Liszt had just had meticulously tended. He followed the stone path through the garden, where recently transplanted Bird of Paradise flowers were blooming. The flowers of different colors were arranged at varying heights, nestled together like a couple in love whispering sweet nothings.

These weren't particularly expensive flowers, and someone like Matthew didn't need rare flowers. Bird of Paradise flowers were common in Los Angeles and were also the city's official flower.

Walking through the garden, Matthew ascended the granite steps to a large terrace on the side of the villa. This was the highest point of the entire Warner estate and the highest point on this hillside, rebuilt from the original observation deck. From here, one could overlook a significant portion of Los Angeles.

Standing at the edge of the terrace, with both hands on the railing, Matthew gazed into the distance, barely making out the skyscrapers of Century City.

Since arriving in Los Angeles at the beginning of 1999 until now in 2006, more than seven years had passed. He had finally climbed from the bottom to his current height, able to stand at a vantage point and oversee a substantial area.

He had earned tens of millions of dollars, and he had intimately interacted with some actresses.

How was this life? Matthew asked himself this question and quickly came up with the answer: this life was fantastic!

If possible, he hoped to make more money and date more actresses.

The money he had earned so far wasn't even as much as Tom Cruise made in a year; the number of actresses and models he had been with was less than the number Leonardo DiCaprio dated in a year.

"The gap is huge..." Matthew sighed, "The gap is really huge!"

With money, fame, status, and power, there must be matching enjoyment. What had he been working hard for all these years? Definitely not for artistic achievement!

The enjoyment of Hollywood stars varied greatly, such as drinking, drug use, and partying. But Matthew's mind was relatively clear. These thrills might be exhilarating for a moment, but they would ruin the future.

Women, however, were different. A beautiful and sexy woman could be pleasing to the eyes, uplifting to think about, a pursuit to kill boredom, and ultimately provide satisfaction from body to mind when intimate.

Especially actresses like Rachel McAdams, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Green, and Alexandra Daddario. Back then, he could only admire them through tabloid news and pictures. Now, he could have in-depth, friendly, and close interactions with these actresses, which was a unique experience.

To him, this was a greater pursuit than artistic achievement.

After all, which normal man, if conditions allowed, wouldn't want to chase after beautiful women?

Matthew wished all the men in Hollywood would turn gay so he could explore life's philosophies with more Hollywood actresses.

If, looking back in a few decades, he realized he had been with all the prettiest actresses in Hollywood, wouldn't that be an immense sense of achievement?

For this ideal, he even deliberately extinguished his feelings for Charlize Theron.

Matthew never considered Charlize Theron as part of the same category as Rachel McAdams, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Green, and others. Although Charlize Theron wasn't an ideal bed partner, being somewhat frigid and more attractive clothed than unclothed, he considered her a potential girlfriend.

As for the others, even if he made one his girlfriend, given Hollywood's reality and the nature of the acting profession, he'd soon find himself with a cheating partner.

If anyone thinks that money and power can control a woman's fidelity, look at some concubines in ancient Chinese emperor's harems—they are good examples. Trying to officially date ten or eight actresses at the same time and expecting them to be devoted is wishful thinking.

Hollywood actresses were far more liberated than ancient women.

Changing partners frequently, like him or Leonardo DiCaprio, was common in this circle, but having multiple romantic relationships and expecting absolute devotion was laughably unrealistic.

This is Hollywood, not a Mormon community.

Matthew stood on the terrace for a while. The wind was picking up, so he turned and walked back, opening the door to enter the villa through a dedicated passage, quickly arriving at the first-floor living room.

"Sir..." The butler approached in the living room and said, "Miss Irina Boyar just called your cell phone. I couldn't find you, so I asked her to call back in half an hour."

It was just the beginning of the workday, so if Irina Boyar called, it must be important. Matthew took the phone from the butler, who continued, "Mr. James McAvoy called and said he would visit with Mr. Michael Fassbender before noon and stay for lunch."

Matthew nodded, "I see." He thought for a moment and told the butler, "Tell the kitchen to prepare a hearty lunch... something with a hint of Chinese flavor."

The butler responded and left the living room.

Matthew found Irina Boyar's number and called her back. She answered quickly.

"Hi, Matthew," Irina's voice came through the receiver. "Aren't you resting today? Were you out?"

Matthew sat down on the sofa and said, "No, I was just walking in the garden." He asked, "Did you need something? You wouldn't call me otherwise."

"I do," Irina Boyar said directly. "Do you remember Uwe Boll?"

Matthew immediately recalled the German director and his invitation, saying, "Are you talking about the boxing match he invited the critics to?"

Irina Boyar said, "Currently, four professional critics have accepted the challenge. The match is scheduled for early June. Due to high media interest, Uwe Boll moved the match from Toronto to Los Angeles."

She paused and added, "You've been busy with 'I Am Legend' auditions and '300' filming, so you might not have followed the entertainment media reports."

"Will a lot of people be watching?" Matthew asked curiously.

"Yes," Irina Boyar spoke faster. "Many Hollywood stars, entertainment journalists, and professional critics plan to attend this match."

Matthew made a quick decision, "Alright, let's go watch it."

They agreed to meet at Horner Manor on the day of the match.

With this plan, Matthew had to forgo his intended vacation to Hawaii. When James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender arrived at the estate, he told them about it, and to his surprise, they were very interested in watching Uwe Boll's boxing match live.

"Such an interesting event," James McAvoy said directly, "and you didn't think to invite Michael and me!"

Matthew's invitation only allowed for one guest, so he had Helen Herman contact Uwe Boll to request two more invitations, which shouldn't be difficult.
