Chapter 71
Chapter 71: Yu Chen Falls Into a Trap and Ends Up in Jail, Lighting a Beauty’s Cigarette:
The two whispered to each other, looking like they were flirting.
Zheng Yu was burning with anger, but Yu Chen held him back, making it impossible for him to attack Qi Lin.
“Qi Lin, you bastard! If you’ve got the guts, don’t hide behind a girl. Come out and fight me fair and square!”
Wang Cheng watched as the girl he loved was tightly held in Qi Lin’s arms, feeling unbearable heartache.
But he didn’t dare to add fuel to the fire.
If Zheng Yu failed to take Qi Lin down today, once Qi Lin returned to school, he would surely settle the score with him.
So he could only watch helplessly as Qi Lin embraced the girl he longed for.
However, Yu Chen had no such concerns. “Qi Lin, are you even worthy of your rich second-generation status? Is bullying girls the only thing you’re good at? If you’re a real man, let go of Sister Yuxi and fight me one-on-one!”
Yu Chen was slightly smarter than Zheng Yu and wanted to lure Qi Lin out so everyone could gang up on him.
But such petty tricks were laughable. When it came to shamelessness, even ten of them combined couldn’t match Qi Lin.
Holding Lan Yuxi in his arms, Qi Lin grinned. “Don’t waste your breath. If you’ve got the guts, come and bite me. I love hiding behind women, and I enjoy living off them. You guys are just jealous! If you’re so envious, why don’t you find a beautiful girl to take care of you too?”
“Pu!”
The provocation failed. Instead, hearing Qi Lin’s shameless words nearly made Yu Chen and Zheng Yu explode with rage.
Lan Yuxi’s face turned red with embarrassment and anger as she reached out to pinch him.
But Qi Lin swiftly caught her soft, fair hand and began to play with it.
Seeing Qi Lin flirt openly in front of him, Zheng Yu couldn’t take the humiliation any longer.
“Damn it! Go beat him up! Drag the girl away first, then break that bastard’s legs!”
Zheng Yu gave the order with a murderous tone.
“Beep—Woo Woo Woo!”
Just then, the sound of police sirens filled the air.
Before Zheng Yu’s men could make a move, several police cars pulled up in front of them.
Armed officers carrying batons and guns jumped out of the vehicles and surrounded the gang.
Zheng Yu was stunned, and Yu Chen’s eyes filled with fear as the police shouted, “Get down on the ground with your hands on your heads, or we’ll use force!”
“Officer, these punks are all accomplices! The main culprits are Zheng Yu and Yu Chen!”
A thug, terrified by the sight of the police batons and tasers, immediately squatted down and pointed fingers.
Now safe, Qi Lin stepped forward with a grin and started identifying the criminals.
“Who are you?”
The lead officer looked at Qi Lin in confusion.
He had received orders from Captain Lan Gang to rescue the captain’s daughter, but no one had mentioned a teenage boy.
Qi Lin pulled Lan Yuxi closer, standing straight. “Good evening, officer. These guys were trying to bully our class rep, and no one else dared to help. I, being a man of justice, stepped in. These punks surrounded us, and if I hadn’t fought off a dozen of them, our class rep would’ve been in real danger.”
Not far away, Yu Chen and Zheng Yu, who were crouched on the ground with their hands on their heads, were left speechless.
Could this bastard be any more shameless?
He had clearly used Lan Yuxi as a human shield, yet now he was acting like her heroic protector?
Wang Cheng ground his teeth, realizing once again why he could never outmatch Qi Lin. If only he had half his shamelessness!
“Yuxi, is that true?”
The officer clearly recognized Lan Yuxi and asked with suspicion.
Lan Yuxi wanted to expose Qi Lin’s lies on the spot, but she was afraid he would twist the story even more. She had no choice but to play along, her face burning with shame.
“Y-yes, Uncle Zhao.”
Hearing her confirmation, Officer Zhao praised Qi Lin. “Impressive, young man. With that sense of justice, I could even nominate you for a Good Samaritan award.”
Qi Lin scratched his nose, looking embarrassed. “No need for that, officer. I don’t deserve it. But could you maybe arrange for a small cash reward instead? Nothing much, just ten or twenty thousand.”
Officer Zhao: “…”
He took back his words.
This kid deserved an award for having the thickest skin.
“Officer, you must be mistaken! Zheng Yu is a student at Huashi No.1 High School! He has excellent grades and is even an exemplary student! There’s no way he’d get into a fight!”
Just then, Wang Siling arrived late to the scene.
Seeing Yu Chen in cuffs, she pouted, nearly bursting into tears.
Officer Zhao spoke calmly. “Miss, he was caught red-handed in a brawl. That’s an undeniable offense. How the police handle this depends on his attitude and the victims’ statements. Even if you plead with me now, I can’t do anything to help.”
Then he turned to Qi Lin and Lan Yuxi. “Since you two were involved, and Yuxi, your father is surely worried, come with me to the station this afternoon.”
“Oh…”
Lan Yuxi pouted reluctantly.
Her father was definitely going to scold her for getting mixed up with troublemakers again.
“Okay.”
Qi Lin’s eyes gleamed with excitement.
He was actually looking forward to watching Yu Chen behind bars.
“Brother Qi Lin, I want to go too. C-can you take me with you?”
Wang Siling’s delicate face was full of helplessness. She was worried about Yu Chen but didn’t know whom to turn to for help.
“Of course! Friends should help each other.”
“Officer, wait a moment. I’ll go get my car. Just lead the way, and I’ll follow.”
Qi Lin grinned and took Wang Siling’s hand, leading her back to school.
Seeing this, Lan Yuxi bit her lip and cursed in her heart.
“This bastard is bullying Siling for sure! He’s not even trying to hide it anymore! Has heaven gone blind, letting this scourge roam free?”
“Qi Lin, you bastard! Let go of Siling!”
Seeing Qi Lin take Wang Siling away, Yu Chen went berserk, jumping to his feet as if his life depended on it.
“Stay put!”
But the police weren’t about to let him loose.
An officer twisted his arm behind his back and shoved him into the patrol car.
Officer Zhao, meanwhile, was puzzled. “Yuxi, does your classmate really drive a motorcycle to school?”
Most students rode bicycles, and seeing one on a motorcycle would be unusual.
“It’s not a motorcycle. It’s a… a car.”
Lan Yuxi stifled her laughter.
And just as she finished speaking, Qi Lin drove out in his Tiger-Head Benz.
“Class rep, hop in!”
Qi Lin rolled down the window and smiled at Lan Yuxi.
“Holy sh*t!”
As a police officer, Zhao was utterly dumbfounded.
Did students nowadays really drive luxury cars to school?
A moment ago, he had assumed it was a motorcycle.
Clearly, he had underestimated the extravagance of the younger generation.
Lan Yuxi had ridden in Qi Lin’s car before, so she knew it was far more comfortable than a police car.
Her face flushed slightly as she turned to Officer Zhao. “Uncle Zhao, I’ll ride with my classmate. Just lead the way.”
“Oh… okay, sure.”
Officer Zhao snapped out of his daze and let out a bitter chuckle before getting into his own vehicle.
As times changed, today’s kids were no longer predictable.
“Qi Lin, wait! I want to go too! Take me with you!”
At this moment, Wang Cheng anxiously knocked on the car window, eager to get in.
He had no choice. Not only had Qi Lin taken his sister, but now he was also driving away with the girl he loved. He couldn’t rest easy knowing that this beast was taking both of the most important girls in his life at once.
But Qi Lin completely ignored Wang Cheng’s plea and laughed. “Brother, this has nothing to do with you. The police didn’t ask you to come along, so what are you tagging along for? Go home and have dinner.”
With that, Qi Lin stepped on the gas, leaving Wang Cheng in a cloud of exhaust as he followed the police car away.
Wang Cheng stood there in shock, then cursed in rage. “Qi Lin, you bastard! You’ve done so many evil deeds—one day, the heavens will strike you with lightning!”
The fight never actually happened, and the small-time thugs were let go.
Officer Zhao only brought back the two ringleaders, Yu Chen and Zheng Yu.
Once they arrived at the police station, the two, still in handcuffs, were locked in the confinement room.
“Yuxi, your father wants to see you.”
Lan Yuxi was immediately summoned to her father’s office.
“You’re Qi Lin, right? Qi Lin, come here and give your statement about what happened.”
Qi Lin was called into an office to record his testimony.
Not far away, Wang Siling stood there looking helpless, her delicate face full of worry as she gazed at him.
Qi Lin smiled slightly.
When it came to obedience, Wang Siling was far more well-behaved than Lan Yuxi.
Not to mention, this little girl was becoming more and more dependent on him.
Qi Lin knew it wouldn’t be long before he could finally enjoy the sweet fruit he had been waiting for.
“Siling, come with me too.”
Qi Lin smiled at Wang Siling.
She nodded eagerly, her beautiful eyes relaxing a little.
Children were always scared of the police station. If Qi Lin had left her alone here, she would have been terrified.
Of course, more than that, she wanted to know Yu Chen’s fate.
“Officer, is Yu Chen’s charge for group fighting serious? Will it affect his studies?”
After finishing his statement, Qi Lin asked Officer Zhao.
The officer thought for a moment before replying, “That depends on you and Yuxi. After all, you two are the victims. Yu Chen is underage, so we don’t want to ruin his future. If you and Yuxi are willing to sign a letter of forgiveness, we can go easy on him. He’d just need to write a self-reflection and receive a verbal warning.”
“What if I don’t forgive him?”
Qi Lin asked.
Behind him, Wang Siling’s face tensed with anxiety.
Officer Zhao let out a bitter laugh. “If you don’t forgive him, then he’s in real trouble. He’ll not only be detained for a few days, but it will also go on his record. That could make it difficult for him to apply for university, graduate school, or even find a job in the future. My advice is to be lenient, but of course, as the victim, the choice is yours. I can only suggest, not force you.”
Qi Lin nodded with a smile. “Thank you, Officer Zhao. I’ll think about it outside.”
Officer Zhao nodded. “Don’t take too long. The case is closing today. If it drags on, he might have to be detained.”
Qi Lin walked outside and sat on a bench in the corridor. He lit a cigarette.
Wang Siling hesitated, watching him with a conflicted expression.
“You heard it too. Yu Chen came looking for trouble with me this time, so don’t blame me for retaliating. I’m not some saint. I’m not forgiving him. Let him sit in detention for a few days and ruin his future. Too bad for him.”
Qi Lin deliberately tried to scare Wang Siling.
But she had already heard everything Officer Zhao said.
Tears welled up in her eyes. “Qi Lin, I know it was Yu Chen’s fault this time. I apologize on his behalf. Please forgive him just this once. He really can’t be detained, or else his future will be ruined.”
She reached out and grabbed Qi Lin’s hand, pleading desperately.
“Attitude matters when asking for a favor. Do you know how to light a cigarette?”
Qi Lin smirked and tossed his lighter and cigarette to her.
With Yu Chen’s fate in his hands, Wang Siling quickly wiped her tears and clumsily pulled out a cigarette, trying to place it in Qi Lin’s mouth.
Qi Lin turned his head away and looked at her like she was a fool. “That’s not how a girl lights a cigarette for a man.”
Wang Siling’s delicate face was full of confusion. “Then… how should I do it?”
Qi Lin flicked her forehead playfully. “You put it in your own mouth first, light it, then pass it to me. That’s called a ‘beauty’s cigarette.’”
Qi Lin was playing dirty.
Wang Siling had never heard of this before.
She looked around at the busy police station corridor, her face turning red with embarrassment.
But for Yu Chen’s sake, she bit her lip, placed the cigarette in her mouth, and clumsily lit it.
“Cough! Cough! Cough!”
Not knowing how to smoke, she accidentally inhaled it into her lungs and started coughing uncontrollably.
Her eyes turned red from the irritation, but she still held back her discomfort and placed the cigarette into Qi Lin’s mouth.
“Ahh~ Now that’s the good stuff. A beauty’s cigarette really is different.”
Qi Lin took a deep drag, exhaled a smoke ring, and leaned back comfortably.
“Qi Lin… about Yu Chen…”
Wang Siling looked at him with teary eyes.
“Oh, I almost forgot. If you want me to write the forgiveness letter, it’s simple. Just kiss me in front of Yu Chen.”
Qi Lin smirked mischievously.
Boom!
This demand completely shattered Wang Siling’s worldview.
She couldn’t believe someone could be so wicked, making her kiss him in front of the boy she liked.
She was utterly devastated.
“T-this… Can’t we change the condition? I really can’t do this…”
Wang Siling sobbed, her voice full of helplessness.
Qi Lin looked at her tearful, delicate face and was reminded of a scene from a historical drama.
“Your Majesty, I really can’t do it!”
But compared to that fictional empress, Wang Siling was much cuter and more beautiful.
“Siling, if you’re not sincere, then there’s nothing more to talk about. I’ll go tell Officer Zhao that I refuse to forgive Yu Chen.”
Qi Lin stood up and started walking toward the office.
That was the final straw.
“Qi Lin, don’t go! I’ll do it!”
She suddenly lunged forward, wrapping her arms around him from behind, sobbing so hard she nearly fainted.
Qi Lin turned around, gently lifting her snow-white chin with his fingers, and smiled. “That’s the Siling I like.”
Her red, tear-filled eyes stared into his.
At this point, she no longer hated Qi Lin.
She had been bullied by him so many times that she had developed a psychological shadow.
All she felt now was fear, helplessness, and submission.
“Am I really doomed to be bullied by him for the rest of my life?”
