Chapter 57:
Chapter 57: A Rat Everyone Wants to Beat:
As soon as he left Xia Sha’s restaurant, Qi Lin returned to his car and immediately removed his disguise. After wiping off his makeup, he changed into a different outfit. Wearing the same clothes back there would only raise suspicions if Xia Sha noticed.
Meanwhile, the time Qi Lin had agreed upon with the gang had arrived.
The group of thugs finally let Wang Cheng go after hurling a few more insults at him before leaving.
“Damned broke loser! If you don’t have money, just stay at home. Wasted our time on some penniless idiot.”
“Chen, next time, make sure you pick the right target. Don’t waste time on guys like him.”
“Pfft!”
Hearing the fading voices of the gangsters, Wang Cheng, who was already bruised and swollen, nearly coughed up blood from rage.
Not only had he been beaten up for no reason, but they also insulted him as they left, calling him a broke loser.
What had he done to deserve this?
“You bastards just wait! I’ve memorized all of your faces! Once I make it big, I’ll destroy every single one of you!”
Wang Cheng struggled to his feet, glaring at their retreating figures, his voice filled with frustration and helplessness.
“Shit! I’m late for work at Yuxi’s aunt’s restaurant!”
Then, reality hit him—he had been held up by those gangsters for an hour.
Now, he was already an hour late for his first day at the restaurant.
Being late the first time he met Yuxi’s aunt was a terrible start. Forget making a good impression—he might not even get hired at this rate.
Panicking, Wang Cheng grabbed his bicycle and pedaled furiously toward Jianghan Restaurant.
…
“Where’s my phone? Bring me my phone.”
“I’m calling Yuxi.”
“I’m telling her that if she ever associates with that pest Wang Cheng again, she can forget about calling me her aunt!”
Xia Sha had just regained consciousness after the waitress revived her by pressing on her philtrum.
The moment she woke up, she gritted her teeth and ordered the waitress to fetch her phone.
But just then, the screech of bicycle brakes echoed outside the restaurant.
A moment later, the very person Xia Sha hated most appeared.
Even though Wang Cheng’s face was bruised and swollen like a pig’s, Xia Sha recognized him at a glance.
Wang Cheng had no idea that Qi Lin had impersonated him earlier, leaving behind an unforgettable impression in Xia Sha’s mind.
He rushed into the restaurant, and the moment he laid eyes on Xia Sha, he was momentarily stunned.
Like Qi Lin, he had assumed that Yuxi’s aunt would be in her thirties or forties.
He never expected her to be so young and breathtakingly beautiful.
However, Wang Cheng was smart enough to know that staring too long was rude—especially at Yuxi’s aunt.
So, he quickly lowered his head.
“I’m really sorry. Something happened on the way here. A group of thugs tried to scam me and ended up beating me up. That’s why I’m late.”
“Boss, I sincerely apologize. You don’t even have to pay me for today. I’m willing to work for free to make up for it.”
Wang Cheng desperately wanted to salvage his image and win favor with Yuxi’s aunt, so he even offered to forgo his pay.
When Xia Sha heard that Wang Cheng had been beaten up and saw his pig-like swollen face—
“Pfft… Hahaha!”
She couldn’t hold back her laughter.
After all, she was still a young woman in her twenties. Seeing the culprit of her suffering get his karma was utterly satisfying.
Wang Cheng was completely confused by her reaction.
Through her laughter, Xia Sha sneered, “Good! Serves you right! Someone like you—lazy, shameless, greedy, and perverted—deserves a good beating. Honestly, they should have beaten you to death!”
She still hadn’t gotten over the fact that ‘Wang Cheng’ had stolen three cans of Red Bull and even stuck out his tongue at her mockingly before leaving.
Even someone as composed as Xia Sha had been driven to the brink of fury.
“Me? Lazy? Shameless? Greedy? Perverted?”
Wang Cheng was completely dumbfounded.
He was sure this was his first time meeting Xia Sha.
How had he offended her?
More importantly, the hatred in her eyes was so intense that Wang Cheng could feel it.
It was as if she wanted to kill him to relieve her rage.
“Auntie, this must be a misunderstanding, right? This is my first time meeting you. Why are you saying these things about me?”
Wang Cheng was growing irritated.
Seeing that he was still playing dumb after everything he had done, Xia Sha’s anger flared even more.
“Xiao Tao, bring me a broom! I’m going to beat this bastard to death today!”
The waitress, Xiao Tao, who had also been bullied by ‘Wang Cheng,’ immediately brightened up at the suggestion and rushed off to find a weapon.
“Boss, here you go!”
Xiao Tao handed Xia Sha a rolling pin.
Wang Cheng’s pupils shrank in terror.
If that thing hit him in the head, wouldn’t it crack open?!
Xia Sha was momentarily surprised, but in the next second, she nodded approvingly at Xiao Tao.
“Good eye. When dealing with scumbags, this is the perfect weapon. I’ll give you a raise next month.”
With that, she stood up, rolling pin in hand, and charged at Wang Cheng.
Xiao Tao followed closely behind.
“Shit!”
Seeing that Xia Sha was serious, Wang Cheng panicked.
He didn’t dare explain any further and turned to flee.
But as he ran out the door, Xia Sha yelled to the surrounding shop owners—
“Everyone, help catch this pervert! He harassed the girls at my restaurant!”
Xia Sha was well-known in the area, and all the neighboring shop owners respected her.
Hearing her call for help, they immediately grabbed whatever they could and rushed out.
In an instant, Wang Cheng’s pursuers increased from two to an entire mob.
“Someone tell me what the hell is happening!”
“I got beaten up on my way to work, and now I’ve become a wanted pervert?!”
“I’M INNOCENT!”
Wang Cheng turned to see the overwhelming crowd chasing him.
His face was filled with terror, and he sprinted even faster.
But he didn’t notice that a figure was waiting for him up ahead.
Qi Lin leaned casually against his Mercedes, a cigarette between his lips.
As Wang Cheng ran toward him, Qi Lin flicked away the cigarette, smirking wickedly.
He straightened up and stepped forward, blocking Wang Cheng’s path.
