Chapter 25
Yerin sighed as she stepped out of the café ahead of Ho-jin.
‘Well, I did agree with Senior Ho-jin’s proposal…’
She was at a loss as to how to persuade Yena to come to the company.
If it were an easy task, Yerin wouldn’t have been so troubled about the Yena issue.
The only glimmer of hope was that Yena was a fan of Girls’ Memorial.
Thinking back to when Yena showed interest during occasional discussions at home about Enson GT, it seemed hopeful…
Lost in thought, Yerin arrived at the Head Office and pressed the elevator button, steeling herself.
‘This time, it must succeed…’
*
An ordinary weekday evening commute.
Yerin arrived at her room sooner than usual but hesitated in front of the door without entering.
Normally, she would have just walked straight in, cracked open a can of beer, and settled in, but…
Knowing she would soon face and persuade Yena, her feet wouldn’t move easily.
“Should I convince Yena in a commanding tone? Or as gently as possible?”
Lost in such thoughts, a surprising realization suddenly dawned on her.
“No, now that I think about it, I don’t have to be sitting here agonizing alone. Why am I doing this?”
Sighing again upon recognizing her own indecision, she entered her home.
“Yena, I’m home.”
From behind the closed door adjacent to the entrance, a voice responded.
“Welcome home, sis! You worked hard!”
As she took her shoes off upon hearing that voice, the familiar scenery of her residence greeted her.
This was the two-room office apartment they had rented after she transferred to Enson GT in order to live with her younger sister Yena.
Surprisingly tidy compared to the living room’s usual state, this cleanliness was due to Yena taking care of the housework instead of leading a bachelor lifestyle like herself.
“But considering that I don’t contribute a penny to the household expenses, this is only natural…”
While thinking such thoughts, Yerin turned around at the sound of a door opening to see Yena emerging, rubbing her belly.
With wavy brown hair reaching her waist, wearing a white t-shirt and black dolphin shorts, she looked simple and relaxed.
“Why haven’t you changed clothes yet, sis?”
“Just lost in thought for a moment.”
“Ah, is something up?”
Then Yena walked towards the refrigerator to get a drink. Seeing her ponytailed bangs, it seemed like she had been working on a manuscript.
Watching her sister quietly, Yerin finally spoke up.
“Yena?”
“Hmm?”
“Come sit down a sec.”
“What is it? I have to get back to the manuscript soon.”
“There’s something I need to tell you.”
Yena glanced at Yerin’s face. Instead of the usual tired expression after work, she showed a hard-to-read blank expression.
From past experiences, Yena knew that when her sister was like this, it meant she was either troubled by something or annoyed.
Therefore, without further ado, Yena sat down quietly.
“What is it?”
After a brief pause, Yerin began to speak.
“Yena, do you still have no plans to get a job?”
“Didn’t I say that before? I’ll challenge it when I find something I really want to do…”
Yerin quickly countered Yena’s excuse from before.
“Last time you said the same thing but didn’t even attempt to apply anywhere.”
“…”
Yena tried to offer another excuse but stopped when she sensed the bleak tone in her sister’s voice.
As both sisters fell silent, the atmosphere in the office apartment grew heavy.
Looking at Yena, who wouldn’t meet her eyes, Yerin sighed and spoke.
“Yena.”
“Hmm?”
“I’m really curious… Are you rejecting work in general, or just haven’t found something that suits you?”
“As much as it might sound like an excuse, it’s because I haven’t found something that really suits me…”
After finishing her sentence, Yena checked her sister’s reaction.
Expecting her sister to get angry at her explanation, surprisingly Yena saw little change in her sister’s expression.
“If that’s really true, what if… If I were to recommend somewhere that suits you, would you consider working there?”
“If it really suits me, I wouldn’t refuse…”
Upon hearing this, Yerin immediately continued her questions.
“Yena, you’re into Girls’ Memorial, right?”
“Huh? What’s that got to do with this?”
“I already know everything. Tell me.”
“Ah… Well, yeah… How did you find out?”
“There was no way I wouldn’t know.”
Yerin pulled out her smartphone and showed Yena Bigniboo, which only showcased her recent secondary creations related to Girls’ Memorial.
“Isn’t it strange that I didn’t know when all you’ve been drawing lately are secondary creations for Girls’ Memorial?”
“I suppose…”
Yena smiled wryly at her sister’s deduction.
“You’re right, I am obsessed with Girls’ Memorial. But what does that have to do with this discussion?”
In response to Yena’s question, Yerin explained everything that had happened, including the offer from Enson GT where she currently served as Art Director of Girls’ Memorial.
Although Yena started off skeptical, she soon realized from her sister’s expression that it was all true.
“So… Let me recap: You’re the Art Director of Girls’ Memorial, and you want to hire me at Enson GT?”
“Exactly.”
“Why haven’t you told me this before?”
“Didn’t you know?”
“No, you only mentioned transferring to Enson GT! You never said anything about being the Art Director of Girls’ Memorial!”
“Oh, did I?”
Yerin’s reaction made Yena momentarily speechless.
“See? You really are silly at times.”
Ignoring Yena’s gaze, Yerin deflected the conversation.
“On a side note, Yena, haven’t you done a few part-time jobs related to 3D modeling?”
“Yeah, I did some character 3D modeling freelance projects. Two broadcasting companies and one game company, I think.”
“How did those turn out?”
“Hmm… I don’t recall exactly, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t get criticized for failing. As you know, if I received complaints, I wouldn’t get paid.”
“Right.”
“So why are you asking about the 3D modeling jobs?”
“Because the Girls’ Memorial team wants to hire you specifically for the 3D modeling department.”
Confused, Yena questioned her sister.
“3D modeling? I thought if I joined your company, I’d be working in art?”
“Yeah, but right now, that’s the area that needs people the most.”
“If that’s the case, I guess there’s no choice…”
Seeing Yena’s evident disappointment, Yerin smiled and asked.
“Are you disappointed because it’s not the art department?”
“To be honest, yeah? I feel more confident in art, but I’m being recruited for a different department, which is scary…”
“Don’t worry. I’ll help you adjust.”
“…Thanks.”
After the conversation reached this point, Yerin stretched and stood up.
“Want some coffee, Yena?”
“Yeah, but no sugar for me, just black Americano.”
“Americano, got it.”
As Yena watched her sister prepare the coffee with the coffee machine, she spoke up.
“Also, sis?”
“Hmm?”
“I have one more question.”
“What is it?”
“Does your company allow flexible use of annual leave?”
After some thought, Yerin nodded and answered.
“Probably? Unless it’s an exceptional situation like just before game launch, we generally don’t touch it. Why?”
“Just wondering… If I start working, do I have to stop my doujin activities?”
Yerin handed Yena one of the two cups filled with coffee.
“It’s not something you necessarily have to stop. You can just use your vacation time to go to Comike.”
“That’s true…”
“Therefore, don’t worry too much about that. Tomorrow, why don’t you come with me to the company?”
“Tomorrow already?”
“Yeah, the director only mentioned a brief interview and a test, so don’t worry too much. Understand?”
“Got it.”

The next morning
While preparing for her work in the office, Yerin received a call.
“Hello?”
[Director, it’s Yerin.]
“Ah, Yerin! What’s up?”
[It’s about the proposal you mentioned yesterday.]
“Hmm… Talking about Yena, right?”
[Yes, exactly. After speaking well with Yena yesterday, we’re on our way to the company right now.]
‘She succeeded.’
“Good job. I’ll contact HR to arrange temporary access passes. When you arrive, head straight to the conference room. Understand?”
[Understood.]
After ending the call with Yerin, she celebrated inwardly and immediately contacted Yumi via the in-office messenger.
As if on cue, Yumi entered the office after a knock on the door.
“Director called?”
“I need you to set up the conference room, as there’s an urgent interview. We’re just doing a quick setup, so nothing fancy. Got it?”
“Alright, understood!”
With Yumi heading off to set up the conference room, I also exited the office.
“First, I need to head to HR, I suppose.”
