The Regressed Game Director Is Too Competent

Chapter 11

The reaction to the PV was explosive.

No, the word “explosive” wasn’t enough to describe it.

[Nickname : Kirin.]

[Title : Whoa, dude, I haven’t felt this hype from a PV since WoW!]

Seriously, these guys must’ve been messing around with some new projects, but it seems like they’ve finally come to their senses, LOL!

-LOL

-How much did you throw at this, Enson? Haha!

-Jeez, these guys can actually do good work!

-The PV hype is insane, honestly!

[Title : Who among these girls do you find the cutest?]

[Captured PV screenshots for each character]

Honestly, I found the operator character shown at the end the cutest, no joke.

Despite never being into lolis before, I immediately got the vibes from her. Haha!

And seriously, while capturing screenshots, I realized how insane their character designs’ quality is. Haha!

Compared to anime characters coming out these days, these designs are in a completely different league. Aren’t they?

-Holy hell, she’s a cutie! Hahaha!

-Dude, you’re at it again. Haha!

-They’re all my favorites.

-Aren’t all of them destined to be section chiefs?

-There are just so many to choose from, hahaha!

[Nickname : Aibeong-i]

[Title : Yesterday the Girls’ Memorial illustrator tweeted and it’s going viral, wow wow wow!]

[Yerin’s captured Twitter main page]

Because of the overwhelming response to the PV, she made a special illustration and shared a gratitude tweet.

[The operator making a hand heart while maintaining a deadpan face in an illustration]

It seems like this kind of interaction hasn’t been seen before in Korea, even though we’re not in Japan. Haha!

-To think such high-quality PVs and Korean companies can exist, seriously, how? Haha!

-Jihojin < < Chew on this, GOAT director indeed, if you ask me.
-Haha, here we go again.
-Many games with great trailers flop anyway, right?
-Damn, why are you attacking the silent Blackpadder fans? Hahaha!

[Nickname : mm]
[Title : Japanese people are totally flipping out over Girls' Memorial now]

[4chan Anime Character Board captured screenshot]

Just from the screenshots I grabbed, it’s clear that Japanese fans are in total chaos.

Rough translations:
- Watching the live stream, I nearly took off my pants, wwww.
- Thought it had to be a Japanese game company creating this, but no, it's not at all, wwww.
- This is heaven where angels gather…
- Operator, I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!! Strike!!!!!!!!!!
- Ahhh, Kotone-senpai is so cute~ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

It's truly the first time I’ve ever seen this level of reaction to a PV.

-Isn't this the same as what those hardcore fans at the game gallery do? Haha!
-Anyone into hardcore fandom wouldn't respond any differently after seeing the PV, haha!
-It's been a while since we've had this much hype, haha!
-So, when is EnsonGT opening?

The reaction was so intense it was like drenched kindling catching fire.

Not just domestically, but both the Korean and Japanese communities were the same way.

The appearance of the game, Girls' Memorial, was nothing short of shocking.

After all, this is happening in Korea, often labeled as the wasteland of otaku subculture. For Girls' Memorial to emerge like this, it was bound to blow up.

It would have been strange if it didn't.

In the community where enthusiasts were starving, the buzz around Girls' Memorial was hyping up the excitement.

During that time, I was boarding a flight to Japan with Yumi and Yerin.

***

This overseas schedule came up suddenly.

We were originally planning to run a FGT in Korea after the PV release, but it got scrapped due to President's objection.

Since the Japanese server is opening first, he argued that running the FGT domestically would be meaningless.

Instead, an unexpected overseas trip was added.

The team members who could accompany due to the sudden nature of the trip ended up being Yerin and Yumi.

Others couldn't join due to company-related time constraints.

“D, Director sir… This is my first time riding business class!”

“...Me too.”

Yerin, sitting next to me, quietly looked around, evidently fascinated.

To be honest, I thought, isn't business class overkill for a trip to Japan?

But then I decided to enjoy it, thinking of it as extra company benefits.

How much we've toiled on this project?

We deserve some of these perks.

With that mindset, despite none of us vocalizing it, the three of us began to make the most of the experience.

Even though it was a short route, and nothing too extravagant, the in-flight meal and complimentary wine were good.

The reclining bed-like seats allowed for a quick nap.

By the time we enjoyed all the perks of business class, I felt my condition restored to an astonishing degree by the time we landed.

Not just me, but Yerin and Yumi's expressions also appeared much better than before.

“Wow, stepping off the plane really makes it feel like we've arrived in another country!”

It seemed like Yumi really was a first-timer at international travel as she curiously looked around everywhere as we were heading out of the immigration checkpoint.

“Senior, over there.”

Yerin pointed toward somewhere with a gesture.

A middle-aged man holding a sign among the crowd waiting for passengers caught our attention.

[Enson Korea]

He seemed to be the Japan branch employee that the President mentioned.

Approaching him, he greeted us first.

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Jihojin from EnsonGT, right?”

“Yes, that's me.”

“I've been in contact with your office. My name is Sung, and I am Section Chief of Enson Japan.”

“Pleased to meet you. Shall I call you Section Chief Sung?”

“Yes, that would be fine.”

***

During the five-minute car ride with Section Chief Sung, one thing became clear: he talks a lot.

“Yesterday, I watched the PV you released, and the response from both Korea and Japan has been very hot!”

“Thank you.”

“By the way, where are the rest of your team members?”

“Well, the staff I brought along weren't here for work-related purposes, but rather for some rest. I told them to take some time off while I handle things alone.”

Hearing my words, Section Chief Sung appeared touched.

“I would’ve enjoyed company life much more if I’d had you as my superior… alas.”

“Haha…”

Once the ice was broken, Section Chief Sung handed me a packet of documents.

“Information on the FGT participants. If anything seems off, please let me know immediately.”

“The recruitment pool seems rather large? With a hundred participants….”

“It’s an action taken based on the reaction to the PV. The upper management’s expectations for Girls' Memorial are also high.”

From the tone of Section Chief Sung, I couldn’t help but smile awkwardly since clearly, the large number of recruitment was due to the President's influence.

After concluding the conversation with Section Chief Sung, everything moved smoothly.

After arriving at Enson Japan headquarters, I reviewed the recruitment pool with Section Chief Sung and then left a message saying 'Please take good care of them,' to avoid any intervening factors.

For fear of variables, the organizers were strictly restricted from having any contact with participants.

In fact, even seeing the faces of participants and organizers was prohibited.

In the end, the entire overseas trip was over in just over two hours of being in Japan.

All that remains is receiving the FGT results report before heading back to Korea…

Right before getting into a taxi, I called Yerin, who answered shortly thereafter.

[Is it already done?]

“Yeah. The schedule finished faster than I expected. Where are you now?”

[We're in Akihabara with Yumi. She wanted to conduct some market research.]

“Akihabara? I'll head that way; just tell me the exact location.”

[Just head to the front of Radio Hall.]

“Got it.”

After the call ended, the taxi arrived soon after, and we headed to Akihabara's Radio Hall.

“We're here, sir.”

“Thank you.”

After paying and stepping out of the taxi, a large and dazzling yellow sign greeted me.

"Feels like something I've seen in manga, but surprisingly, this is my first time actually visiting..."

I spent a little time taking photos and reminiscing.

Soon after, Yerin and Yumi appeared from Radio Hall.

"Senior, you've arrived."
"This place is an entirely new world, Director!!"

In contrast to Yerin's subdued excitement, Yumi was unusually energetic, and I couldn’t help smiling.

“What did you buy?”

“Ah, this?”

Yumi pulled out a set of Nendoroid figurines of various girls from the plastic bag.

"I couldn't find these in Korea no matter how hard I looked, but I got lucky here—they were right there!"

Nodding in agreement with Yumi’s statement, I looked at Yerin.

“What about you, Yerin? What did you buy?”

“Me? I usually ask my younger sister to buy what I really need... But, Senior, did you see that?"

"See what?"

"Our game's ad is already up!"

"Already?"

Surprisingly, Yerin's assertion was confirmed by Yumi, who smiled and added,

"Yeah! It was near the train station, but you didn't see it on the way here?"

"I was in a taxi."

“Then let's go see it now!”
