The Omnipurpose Restaurant in Dungeon City

Chapter 17 - The First Day of Official Opening

Whoever wants to be born must destroy a world.
This is the opening line of a famous novel.
Then conversely, if one has broken away from the existing world, wouldn’t that mean they’ve been reborn?
“Waaah! I’m a baby chef.”
In other words, Jin, who has left the world of Earth before possession and been possessed into the game world, concludes that he’s a cute newborn baby!
“What nonsense are you suddenly spouting? Have you really gone mad?”
“No, why are you saying such harsh things first thing in the morning?”
“What morning? Can’t you see it’s almost lunchtime?”
“Since the adventurers who are likely to become our restaurant’s customers are just waking up now, couldn’t we consider it morning?”
“The adventurers are the ones who just woke up and aren’t fully awake, so why are you the one talking nonsense?”
Well, this is nonsense as Miley said.
He had achieved his dream of opening a restaurant only after changing worlds.
He was feeling that the novel’s content about needing to leave the existing world to move forward anew was somewhat correct.
That newly born restaurant was right in front of him.
The business permit mark received yesterday was proudly displayed.
[Omnipurpose Restaurant]
The signboard that Miley made overnight was also beautifully hung.
He also received a board to set up in front of the store, but he decided to write on it later.
“Thank you, Miley-ssi. Thanks to you, I was able to hang it right away for the opening. I guess that’s what you’d expect from a dwarf. I didn’t know it would be completed in just one day.”
“It’s nothing. For a dwarf of my caliber, a simple signboard like this is no big deal.”
“I hope you didn’t overexert yourself making it in a hurry?”
“Would a dwarf overexert themselves for something like this? I did it at my own pace, so don’t worry.”
“That’s a relief. By the way, how much did it cost?”
“Forget it. Just think of it as my opening gift. You’re going to be a valuable business partner selling the craft beer I make in the future, right?”
“But still…”
“If you really insist, just give me lunch. I’m hungry since I didn’t eat breakfast while making that.”
Growl-
As if to prove she wasn’t lying, Miley’s stomach clock chimed in.
But Miley showed no sign of embarrassment, proudly sticking out her large chest.
Because female dwarves don’t get embarrassed by such things.
Besides, what’s wrong with being hungry at a restaurant? You’d come to eat because you’re hungry, right?
“Alright. Then for lunch…”
Just as they were about to go inside after agreeing to provide lunch through negotiation.
“Hello, owner! You’re open today too, right?”
“Oh, Seria-ssi. Hello.”
Green hair appeared before his eyes.
It was Seria, the receptionist from the Adventurers’ Guild and the second customer.
“Are you here to eat something spicy again? I told you it’s not good to eat it too often.”
“Ah, I know that too. I didn’t come to eat tteokbokki. I have some news to deliver, so I came to have lunch while telling you.”
News to deliver? What could it be?
Jin flinched involuntarily, perhaps because he had almost become an illegal business criminal just yesterday.
But Seria passed over Jin’s suspicious behavior and showed interest in Miley, who was behind him.
“By the way, are you perhaps Miley-ssi from the Commerce Guild?”
“Yes, that’s right. Aren’t you the Adventurers’ Guild receptionist I’ve seen before? Right?”
“Oh, did you two know each other?”
“Well, it’s nothing special. Since there are various exchanges between large guilds, we just know each other’s faces.”
“Miley-ssi is a famous person in the Commerce Guild. I didn’t expect you to remember me.”
“How could I not remember a receptionist from the Adventurers’ Guild, which is said to only hire beauties? Oh, and I quit the Commerce Guild as of yesterday, so I’m no longer affiliated with them.”
“What? You quit? How did that happen?”
“Well, I stopped by this restaurant yesterday and…”
“Wait, wait. Both of you, just a moment please.”
Jin intervened, stopping Miley and Seria who were about to start a casual conversation in front of the store.
It’s fine to have a casual chat, but is there really a need to do it right here?
“Instead of standing here talking, why don’t we go inside the cool restaurant and talk?”
“Ah, that’s right.”
“Oh, yeah. Come to think of it, the inside of the restaurant is cool thanks to the magical tool, right?”
Ding-a-ling-
“Whew~ It really feels like a completely different space from outside. Hey, owner, can I take apart that magical tool called an air conditioner? I’m really curious about how it works.”
“Of course not. I only have one, and I can’t get any more, so you can’t touch it carelessly. Absolutely not!”
Jin hurriedly pleaded, startled.
In the first place, it’s questionable whether it can be disassembled since it’s treated as furniture, but.
If by any chance it loses its air conditioning function after being tampered with, there couldn’t be a more terrible accident.
Putting aside the appeal factor for customers, he didn’t have the confidence to endure the sweltering heat of midsummer.
This world doesn’t even have electric fans yet, let alone magical tools to replace air conditioners, right?
“Tch, what a stingy guy.”
“Haha, I understand the owner’s feelings. Even nobles might not have such magical tools, right? It’s so cool here in the middle of summer.”
“That’s why we should take it apart. If we can make more of these magical tools, I could install one in my sauna-like workshop too.”
“I understand how you feel, but it really can’t be done. Please be satisfied with enjoying it when you come to the restaurant.”
Once again warning Miley, he guided the two to the counter seats.
“Now, let’s put aside the dangerous interest in the air conditioner for a moment. You both came to eat, right? Is there anything you’d like to eat?”
“Hmm, well. I didn’t really come with anything specific in mind. I’ve only eaten chicken here, so I don’t even know what’s available.”
“I’m not stressed enough to eat spicy food yet… But what’s this dish called chicken?”
“What? You came here without even knowing what chicken is? It’s where you pour a lot of oil into a pot and fry chicken…”
“That chicken dish sounds delicious too, but the tteokbokki I ate isn’t inferior to…”

It seems neither of them came with a specific menu in mind.
As they were pondering over the menu, for some reason, the conversation flowed into them recommending the foods they had eaten with prideful explanations. It was then that.

Ding-a-ling-
“Hello, owner. It seems you’ve properly obtained the permit.”
“Ah, Fiona-ssi has come too.”
The expressionless female knight Fiona also opened the restaurant door and entered.
With this, the number of first-time visitors had already reached three.
The maximum number of people during the entire period of running the restaurant so far!
It’s a miraculous growth rate of three times the average number of visitors.
It could be called a catastrophic explosion.
“Is this what they call the opening rush?”
“What opening rush with just three people, you idiot.”
He could hear Miley’s incredulous voice from the side.
But for Jin, who had only ever dealt with one customer at a time, it was a rather emotional moment.
“Hm? Did I come at a bad time?”
“No, no. Of course not. Customers are always welcome.”
“I came to check if you received the permit properly, not as a customer… Well, seeing that there are other customers, it seems you resolved it well as expected.”
“It’s thanks to you, Fiona-ssi.”
“All I did was give you a slight grace period, though?”
“That’s why I survived. Ah, these people were about to have lunch too. Would you like to join us, Fiona-ssi?”
“Is that alright? You’re not too busy?”
“It’s just one more person, what’s the big deal. And I told you, customers are always welcome.”
“If that’s the case, then alright. It’s almost lunchtime anyway, and I’m curious to see what the officially opened owner’s food is like.”
“Then please sit here in front…”
“Aaah!! Could it be Lady Fiona Valen of the Griffin’s Claw Knight Order?”
As Jin was about to guide Fiona to the counter seats, he was interrupted by Seria, who stood up abruptly and exclaimed in shock.
“Hm? Fiona Valen of the Griffin’s Claw Knight Order? I feel like I’ve heard that somewhere before…. Ah! Is she that cold-blooded knight known as the White Golem of that knight order?”
“Wait, Miley-ssi! How can you say that so blatantly in front of her!”
Apparently, since Fiona is a prominent figure in a rather famous knight order, both of them seem to know about her.
Well, with her outstanding appearance and skills, and being the face of the knight order, they probably would have seen her somewhere.
Meanwhile, Miley was blurting out Fiona’s nickname and personality in a typically dwarven manner.
And Seria was trembling even more at the sight of it, creating a crazy collaboration.
It’s understandable that Seria is trembling since Fiona is a high-ranking person in the knight order, but there’s really no need to worry so much.
“Ah, it’s fine. It’s a nickname I often hear normally. Rather, thinking about yesterday’s events, I’m comfortable with it being familiar.”
Fiona is only strict about rules, but she’s surprisingly tolerant in these aspects and doesn’t reprimand.
Especially if the person mentioning it is a dwarf.
Because she understands the characteristics of the dwarven race.
“But what about yesterday’s events? Did something happen?”
“Ah, it’s nothing special. As I discussed with the owner then, I tried to make various suggestions to the knight order to become more flexible, but.”
Fiona said with a wry smile.
“They told me to take a few days off, wondering if I was sick. I said I was fine, but it was processed forcibly.”
“Uh….”
“It seems everyone was surprised by my sudden attempt at change.
I think I’ll need to take more time to have conversations with them.”
“That’s a situation where it’s difficult for me to say anything.”
“Well, since it’s come to this, I’m thinking of enjoying the vacation I received. This too must be part of the process of becoming flexible cartilage.”
Fortunately, it seems she wasn’t hurt much, as Fiona sat down with a smile.
She has certainly become softer compared to a few days ago.
However, to ease the tension of Seria who was still standing awkwardly, Jin introduced them to each other.
“As you both know, this is Lady Fiona Valen. This is the dwarf artisan Miley-ssi. And this is Seria-ssi, the receptionist from the Adventurers’ Guild.”
“Nice to meet you. Would it be alright if we eat together?”
Fiona, perhaps used to such situations, noticed Jin’s intention and deliberately spoke kindly.
“O-Of course!”
“I don’t mind. It’s not my restaurant anyway.”
Somehow Seria seems more nervous, but anyway, it’s good that everyone sat down without problems!
But there was still one big problem left.
“So what should we have for lunch?”
“Since we’ve gathered like this on the first day of opening, how about we all eat the same menu?”
“If that’s alright with everyone, I’m fine with it. This too would be an interesting experience.”
“Ahaha… I’m okay with it too…”
Miley threw out a suggestion, and Fiona responded with a smile.
When Fiona agreed, Seria had no choice but to agree as well.
‘No, but what are we going to eat?’
It’s good that they agreed to unify the menu, but the actual menu hasn’t been decided yet.
“Just do whatever you want.”
Miley, probably thinking this wasn’t going to work, finally tossed the choice to Jin.
“Yes, it might be better to leave it to the owner.”
“Hmm, it would be difficult to satisfy the tastes of all three people.”
In the end, Jin, who received the right to choose, selected the menu.
“Then can I really do as I please?”
“What are you going to do?”
“As Fiona-ssi said, it’s not easy to satisfy all three people’s tastes.”
If we can’t satisfy everyone, then choosing a menu that’s inoffensive to everyone would be the best option, right?
“I’m going to make pasta.”
At least in Jin’s life so far, he had never seen a woman who disliked pasta.
