The Nature of Possession

chapter 400

401 – EP.15 Flower Road

***

The next day, I swore in front of Bangja.

We sat down on a side of the tavern where a cool breeze was blowing and waited for breakfast.

On the bare floor, there were still people sitting, most of whom were merchants, about to leave in a hurry like us.

While the drowsiness that I couldn’t shake off was being burned by the soft sunlight, I eavesdropped on the merchants’ conversations and could tell that the owner of this house was quite skilled in her craft.

That was great news. A delicious breakfast would give me the strength to walk a long distance.

As I closed my eyes and relaxed my sore throat, the stimulating smell of food wafted into my nostrils.

I’m not sure what kind of food it is, but the saliva in my mouth naturally roars with joy at its taste.

“Your Majesty, it smells good.”

Perhaps because he was used to my harsh insults, Bangja treated me without any sign of intimidation.

In the guy’s world, food had already been served, and he was licking his lips and waving his hands like a fly.

I was about to add a word to that frivolous appearance, but then I decided it was a bit much and kept my mouth shut.

“Then I can fill it up and get up.”

I suppressed my minor annoyance by simply affirming Bangja’s words.

As the merchants said, the hostess’ cooking skills were excellent.

Breakfast was noodles.

The broth made by boiling the radish cut into chunks was refreshing, and the noodles served with that refreshing taste were the finishing touch.

After whetting my appetite with the noodles, I took a big spoonful of the rice cake and put it in my mouth along with some kimchi. The chewy texture was followed by a salty and spicy taste.

It was a perfectly delicious meal that made me put aside any thoughts of dimension travel for a moment.

We continued eating in silence for a few minutes. The feeling of fullness rising in contrast to the emptying bowl opened the ears that had been blocked by hunger.

“You took in a Jang-i clan as a servant? Are you in your right mind?”

And I overheard an interesting conversation.

The man with the slanted eyes looked at the man across from him with a face of disbelief.

The impression of the man who received that question, half-reproachful, was gentle, or to put it a bit negatively, a dull-witted one.

“Why is that?”

When the gentle-looking man asked again, saying he didn’t understand English, the squinty-eyed man pounded his chest as if he was frustrated.

“When you get home, I’ll kick him out! No… I’m sending someone to send a letter right now. Telling them to kick him out.”

“Listen, Isam. Don’t get excited and explain it step by step. If you suddenly say something like that, I’ll be in trouble.”

“Hey, you b*stard. Don’t you know how dangerous the Jang tribe are when you brought them in?”

“I know the stories that are going around in the world.”

“But why?”

“First of all, he was begging in front of the house, covered in wounds… and above all.”

The man avoided eye contact.

“More than anything?”

The squinty-eyed man leaned forward as he listened to his friend’s last words.

“She was so pretty….”

The gentle-looking man lowered his head for a reason that was absurd even to him, and the man with slanted eyes clicked his tongue.

“You’re crazy. If a monster is pretty, would you bring it into your home?”

“Hmm, that’s worth considering.”

“…If you go missing in the near future, I will personally report it to the authorities and tell them to search Daesurim first.”

“Oh, at least say something!”

A man with a gentle impression shouted loudly, and the surroundings became noisy.

This was because other people who had woken up to the smell of morning came out one by one to their usual routine.

The sun rose in the sky and the work began, and we paid our bill and headed out of the inn.

As we left the village, the once somewhat organized road became chaotic again.

We headed south, hurtling through the rocks and tall grass that were scattered here and there.

Although it was chilly day and night, the season could be called spring.

The fragrance of the flowers blooming one by one tickled my nose.

This strong floral scent was quite stimulating, as I had never smelled it in my original world.

As a side note, it was fortunate that this possessed body did not have a pollen allergy.

I suddenly remembered a time when I had a peanut allergy and died screaming after eating peanuts.

Even after he died, I still felt a bit dumbfounded. That.

“Wow, it’s spring now.”

What soothed my boredom while I was walking along the road with no plan was Bangja’s ceaseless mouth.

Bangja’s steps were full of strength, as if he had been well rested. If he kept walking like that, he would get tired soon…

“Yes, it’s spring.”

“I really like spring. Aren’t there a lot of flowers blooming? And it’s fun to see the flowers.”

“Are you thinking of going with Hyangdan?”

“Hey! Why are you bringing up the topic of Hyangdan again?”

Bangja raised her voice.

As I chuckled, Bangja opened her eyes wide and glared at me.

“Wouldn’t a young master like that be going around with Lady Chunhyang?”

“Well, I don’t remember, so I don’t know what to do.”

“Hey, you won’t lose your memories forever. You said, Senator. Your memories will come back gradually.”

Bangja beat her chest, saying that everything would be okay.

“Thank you for your words.”

It’s not amnesia, it’s possession, so there’s no way your memories will come back.

As I continued walking along the winding road, flowers caught my eye along the way.

The road decorated with each color resembled the national flags of all nations that I had seen on the street one day.

“Huh? There’s a butterfly over there too.”

As I followed the tip of Bangja’s finger, I saw quite a few butterflies fluttering about.

They accompanied us along the flower path as if they were escorting me and Bangja.

“There are cases like this too.”

While I was purely admiring the spectacle created by nature, Bangja looked at me and asked.

“What kind of flower do you like the best, Master?”

“Well, I don’t know much about flowers, so I can’t say.”

“I really like cherry blossoms.”

“That’s common. Because it’s the flower that blooms the most gorgeously.”

“Haha, that’s right. And Hyangdan also really likes cherry blossoms…..”

“Agari.”

“yep.”

The flower path continued for four days. It was truly a magical and beautiful sight.

And it was four days later that I heard the news that Chunhyang was locked up in prison.
