Chapter 24
Sellonia rested her chin and fell into serious thought.
Gillian was her father’s. He was the vice guild leader of Finest, trusted by her father.
What if he has some other agenda while working for her father or is hiding something from them?
It wasn’t clear. It’s just a guess.
So she’ll have to find out.
She can’t just harm someone, so she’ll do it alone for the time being without telling her father.
“M-Miss!”
“Ella?”
As she was about to gather my thoughts and stand up, she heard Ella’s voice calling her from outside.
The puzzlement paused for a moment before she remembered that she had left Ella by the Demon King’s side to stop him from following him to the place where she met Gillian.
Sellonia hurriedly opened the door, thinking that something was wrong.
“What’s the matter!”
“T-There’s a big problem! Sir Rubeus, towards Sir Beast…!”
Ella was running down the hallway with a shocked look on her face.
Sellonia ran straight out.
***
He was leaning against the wisteria, waiting for Sellonia, who disappeared in a flash to see Gillian or something.
Not far away, loud cheering sounds were regularly heard.
He looked crookedly at the place where the sound of cheers came from, feeling the cool breeze and warm sunlight.
Those whom she said were the knights were swinging their swords at the command of one man.
“Tsk.”
He clicked his tongue with a disapproving expression, like someone who had eaten something bad.
He doesn’t know anything, but even a passing ant will know that something is wrong.
Just looking at their swordsmanship made him sigh, and he just turned his head away.
“Hey.”
Then he called to the woman who was squatting next to him, doing nothing but digging with a rock.
She was a servant who stayed by Sellonia’s side every day. Did she call that woman Ella?
“Yes, yes?! Me?”
Ella, who was startled, let out a squeak and responded.
After all, he had been staying at the Duke’s residence for a week, and he had never once spoken to anyone other than Sellonia.
This also applies to Ella, who is always with Sellonia.
Therefore, Sellonia was the only one who could handle his barrage of questions.
“Yeah. You.”
“
Gasp…
W-What’s wrong…”
Ella quickly put down the rock and got up from her seat.
“Ah. Are you hungry? Should I ask you to prepare a meal?”
Ella clapped her hands in confidence.
He always asked the Miss to eat with him, so this time, he would say he’s hungry again.
“No.”
However, he had no intention of eating.
Not only did he not need to eat anything, but the act of eating itself was a very troublesome and cumbersome thing for him.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
The act of eating food with a fork and knife three times a day.
Yet the reason he continued to eat with Sellonia was simply because he liked the atmosphere there.
The fragrant smell of freshly served food and the small clattering sound of dishes clinking against each other.
And sometimes, when he goes and stays still, she nags about whether he has hands or feet, and even puts food on his plate.
He loved the place where it all came together and he just didn’t want to miss it.
“When will your miss come?”
“Miss? Well, she’ll probably be here soon. She doesn’t always see Gillian for a long time.”
“Dig again.”
Now that he had gotten the answer he wanted, he took his eyes off Ella without hesitation.
“But you really don’t remember anything?”
“…”
“Nothing? “How can this be?”
But at this point, Ella started pouring out all the things she was curious about.
“What does it feel like to have no memory? Are you at a loss?”
“Hey.”
“It must be very frustrating, right? How… It must be so hard. “But this is the first time I’ve seen someone with amnesia!”
“You…!”
The moment he tried to raise his voice because he was distracted by Ella who was whispering next to him.
“Sir, I see you again.”
A voice came from somewhere else.
When he turned his head, there was a face he had seen before.
“I’m greeting Sir Rubeus.”
Ella recognized Rubeus and bowed her upper body.
Rubeus Sid.
He was the commander of the Duke’s knights and was present when he had a meal with Sellonia and the Duke a few days ago.
“Yes. The Princess went somewhere, but you’re still here?”
“She went to see a guest of hers for a while. She told me to stay with the guest.”
“I see. Sir, were you watching the training?”
Rubeus looked away and spoke to the man who was looking at him.
He looked down at Rubeus, his arms still crossed, and opened his mouth.
“Not really.”
“Is that so? I thought you were interested in swordsmanship because you were staring earlier.”
“Not really.”
He gave a simple and indifferent answer.
This guy, Rubeus or whatever, was just a nuisance.
Plus, he was strangely annoying to the eyes. Purple eyes hidden in narrow, snake-like eyes.
Since they were people he just hated, he just ignored them and turned his head away.
“By the way, I didn’t know you were still staying at the mansion.”
Rubeus let out a sharp voice at the man who was ignoring him.
There was sarcasm in it.
When he felt that, he raised one corner of his lips and lifted his chin as if to ask Rubeus to continue.
“Even if the Duke told them to stay indefinitely, a person with shame would have left long ago.”
“Shame?”
One of his eyebrows rose crookedly.
Shame? What does that mean?
“That… It’s like a feeling of embarrassment.”
Ella, who noticed that he didn’t understand what he said, lifted her tiptoes and whispered softly into his ear in the air.
During this time, he used to ask the Miss everything from one to ten.
Still, he didn’t understand.
A feeling of embarrassment? What is that?
“Ha. Do you really think something has happened since the Duke called you noble?”
Rubeus laughed as if he was shocked and frowned.
Rubeus didn’t like this guy from the beginning.
The Beast of the Night?
Even if he was called by such a ridiculous nickname, this man was a back alley street junkie.
Yet he dared to stay at the duchy just because he’s the Princess’ benefactor. And stayed by the Princess’ side for a week, at that.
He didn’t like it.
It was his flower that he secretly looked at with a longing heart, cherishing it over and over again for fear that it would wear out when he looked at it or whether it would break if he touched it.
She was someone as fragile and delicate as a daffodil in full bloom, and someone who could not be overlooked, so he only kept it in his heart, but how dare he.
“It looks like you’re trying to lure the weak-hearted Princess and become a parasite, but it’s impossible.”
Rubeus, who had already revealed his true feelings, walked closer to him and purred.
“You’re nothing more than a wandering street beggar and a bug who was lucky enough to stay at the Duke’s residence.”
Rubeus’ expression was filled with disgust as he glared at him, as if he had decided not to hide it any longer.
“Leave the Duke’s residence immediately. Don’t mess around with the Princess anymore.”
“And if I don’t want to?”
He grinned as if he was more amused than ever by Rubeus’s very unusual behavior.
His laughter, unfazed by the warning, was enough to stimulate Rubeus.
A sleazy light momentarily passed through Rubeus’ purple eyes as he was grinding his teeth.
“I heard that you’re using your strength, so why not have a formal duel with me? If I win, you must leave the Duke’s residence immediately.”
“What if I win? Are you the one leaving?”
“Ha…”
Rubeus snorted at the nonsense.
He was the commander of the Duke’s knights.
In terms of skill alone, he was comparable to Ian Cherville.
Even though he had a better physique than me, he was just a ruthless person running around in the back alleys.
He was of a different rank and level from those people.
“Answer.”
He asked Rubeus for an answer with a smile that had already disappeared.
“Alright.”
“Before we begin, let me give you some advice. If you don’t want to be embarrassed, it would be a good idea to put away the prying eyes in advance.”
He patted the shoulder of Rubeus, who was located much lower than him, and took his first step.
Under the blazing sun, his red eyes were burning like flames.
He was quite serious about dealing with him. Because it was strangely annoying that he mentioned Sellonia at the end of every sentence.
