Chapter 9: Chapter 009 : B-Rank Dungeon
After getting back from the meeting, Naruto got a phone call from his college. They wanted to chat about whether he would be joining classes and discuss his schedule. Both Naruto and the college admin realized it would be hard for him to be on campus regularly because he had become so famous. So, they came up with a plan where Naruto would take some classes online. The college also agreed to send him daily study topics and materials for his courses. He would only have to show up for exams.
Even with this plan, they asked Naruto to come to the college one more time for an in-person chat to finalize everything, which he agreed to. Naruto decided he would visit the college in a few days, and the college was totally okay with that.
With that out of the way, the only thing Naruto had to focus at the moment was prepare himself for his very first dungeon raid, which was going to be with most probably the strongest guild of the country, so he had to bring his best , even if it was his first raid.
[The Day Of The Raid]
Naruto was super excited about the upcoming raid, though he felt a bit nervous too. He didn't worry too much about the nerves though, since his mind was more focused on the adventure ahead.
This was Naruto's first time going on a raid, and he had already met up with his team the day before. They wanted to get to know each other a bit and make sure everyone knew their roles and what to expect during the raid.
Naruto had been given clear instructions. As a Mage-type hunter, which his evaluation had confirmed, his job was to support the team from a distance. He wasn't supposed to dive into the thick of the battle but instead help out by casting spells and providing backup from afar.
As both Choi Jong-in and Cha Hae-In, who was leading this raid, went over all the details about Naruto's skills and how he used them, they figured out the best way to fit him into the team and gave him instructions based on that.
The hunters he was teaming up with were really friendly when they met him. They were all part of the B-Team from the Hunters Guild, which included six A-Rank hunters, like Aria, and eight B-Rank hunters [For this raid only]. Usually, an A-Rank hunter named Son-Ki-Hoon would lead the B-Team, but since this was Naruto's first raid and they needed to evaluate his skills more closely, Cha Hae-In was chosen to lead this time.
Overall, Naruto was looking forward to this adventure. He couldn't wait to step into the dungeon and get started.
[THE DAY OF RAID]
Naruto and the entire team, along with the miners and porters, arrived at the scene all at once. There was a massive crowd of reporters gathered outside the dungeon gate, and plenty of people were there too.
"Why are there so many reporters for a B-Rank Dungeon raid?" one of the hunters whispered to her teammate as they approached the dungeon entrance.
Cha Hae-In, walking right beside Naruto, leaned slightly towards him and said, "Next time, try not to share raid details on social media." Naruto's cheeks flushed with embarrassment at her words.
Naruto scratched his head and laughed awkwardly, "Yeah, I just got a bit carried away. I promise not to do it next time!"
"Good!" Cha Hae-In replied with a smile.
The truth was, Naruto had shared a post about the mission, but he didn't include the location. He had simply written, "Getting Ready For The First Raid Tomorrow!" along with a picture of himself inside the Hunters Guild headquarters. This was why the reporters were gathered; they wanted to cover the first raid of the country's newest and 10th S-Rank hunter.
"So, are we ready, everyone?" Cha Hae-In asked as they all stood in front of the dungeon, getting prepared to go in.
"Yes!" the team replied enthusiastically. Naruto, watching from the side, felt a surge of excitement. He couldn't wait to see what awaited them inside the dungeon.
"Let's enter!" Cha Hae-In announced, leading the way. The team followed her into the dungeon, with Naruto sticking close behind her, just as he had been instructed since this was his first experience.
Once they passed through the blue vortex, they found themselves in a dimly lit, cave-like space. Naruto's senses, already heightened by the journey there due to the mix of magical energy from the hunters and the dungeon itself, were now picking up even more intense vibes.
"Are you nervous?" Aria asked as the team began moving forward, catching up with Naruto.
"Nervous? Not at all!" Naruto replied with a grin. "Isn't this your first raid too?" he asked, tilting his head slightly toward her.
"No, it's not," Aria replied. "I already went on a mission two days ago after joining the guild."
Suddenly, all the hunters stopped in their tracks, sensing something approaching. Naruto felt it too, as a group of small lizards suddenly leaped at them.
Without needing any instructions, the team sprang into action. The tank-type hunters moved to face the monsters head-on, while the mage-type hunters, provided support from a distance. Cha Hae-In didn't need to step in, as the team was well-equipped to handle this weak monster wave. Among them was Aria, who, despite her inexperience, managed to help and even took down some of the creatures. Her reactions weren't as swift as the others, but she held her own. The group of lizards was small, so it didn't take long for the team to dispatch the entire pack within a minute.
Following his instructions to observe from a distance before jumping into action, Naruto stayed back, watching as the hunters engaged with the creatures.
In no time, the area was cleared, and the team had successfully defeated the first wave of monsters.
"What do you think?" Cha Hae-In asked, glancing at Naruto as they both turned to watch the squad finish off the last of the creatures without breaking a sweat.
"I think... I know what I need to do now," Naruto replied with a confident nod, feeling ready to join in when the next opportunity arose.
