The Legendary Demigod

Chapter 9: Chapter 16-17-18

Chapter 16 – A Call to Action

The atmosphere on Olympus was tense. The Council of the Gods had gathered once more in the golden hall, their voices echoing like thunder as they discussed the approaching threat. Despite their immortality and absolute power, even the gods could sense the gravity of the danger. Percy Jackson was among them, sitting on a smaller bench, watching the exchange between the deities.

"We can't just wait for this force to attack!" Athena said, slamming her fist on the table. "We need an immediate strategy."

"I agree," Artemis replied, her silver eyes shining. "But acting rashly could expose our weaknesses."

Percy stood up, drawing everyone's attention. He was dressed simply, but his presence was remarkable, like a warrior who bore the weight of experience.

"If I may, I have a suggestion."

All eyes turned to him, including Zeus, who stared at him with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity.

"Speak, son of Poseidon," Zeus ordered.

Percy took a deep breath before speaking, his voice steady and controlled.

"We know this threat is growing, but we still have little information about what we're facing. I propose we send a reconnaissance and sabotage team."

Murmurs filled the room, some gods whispering about the boldness of the idea.

"And who do you suggest for this mission, Jackson?" Artemis asked, her gaze steady.

"Myself," Percy answered without hesitation. "And a few experienced demigods. We're used to operating at the limit and facing unknown enemies. Besides, my skills and military experience make me the best choice to lead a team on a mission like this."

Zeus narrowed his eyes.

"What if they fail? What if they're captured?"

Percy looked directly at the king of the gods.

"Then at least we'll have crucial information about the enemy. But with all due respect, I don't intend to fail." Hestia, the goddess of the hearth, intervened, her voice soft but firm.

"Percy is right. Risking a few can save many."

Artemis tilted her head, considering Percy for a moment.

"If so, my Hunters and I will go as well. We can provide support and, if necessary, lead the fight."

The room fell silent. Even Percy seemed surprised by Artemis's offer.

"Very well then," Zeus finally declared. "You will have our approval. But remember: this mission will be of the utmost importance."

Back at Camp Half-Blood, Percy assembled a team of seasoned veterans: Nico di Angelo, Thalia Grace, Annabeth Chase, and Clarisse La Rue. Each of them had unique skills that would complement the mission.

Percy explained the plan in detail in the Big House, while Artemis and her Hunters looked on.

"The objective is clear," Percy said, pointing to the map in front of him. "We will infiltrate enemy territory, gather information, and, if possible, neutralize their operations. The priority is to return safely and with the necessary information."

"It sounds easy on paper," Clarisse commented, crossing her arms.

"It's never easy, Clarisse," Percy replied seriously.

Nico raised his hand.

"What about Artemis and her Hunters? How will we coordinate with them?"

Percy looked at the goddess, who stepped closer to answer.

"My Hunters are self-sufficient, but we will follow your lead, Percy. You are the strategist here."

Talia smirked.

"This will be interesting."

The team traveled under the cover of night, using portals provided by Hermes to shorten the distance. Their destination was a hidden fortress in the mountains, where the threat seemed to be centered.

Percy led the group with military precision, moving carefully and coordinating with the others. Artemis and her Hunters advanced with impressive grace and silence, while the demigods followed close behind.

They reached the fortress at dawn, hiding in the dense vegetation around it. Percy used binoculars to observe the enemy's movements.

"It looks well guarded," he whispered. "Lots of guards patrolling the main entrances."

Annabeth studied the terrain. "There's a side passage over there. It's less guarded, but probably full of traps."

"Then that's where we're going," Percy said with a smile.

"Of course you'd say that," Annabeth muttered.

Moving like shadows, the group entered through the side passage. Nico used his shadow powers to neutralize some of the traps, while Annabeth led the way in disabling others.

"Impressive, Annabeth," Artemis commented as she watched.

"I had a good mentor," she replied, glancing at Percy.

Inside the fortress, the atmosphere was dark and stuffy. They moved cautiously, avoiding patrols and gathering information about the enemy's plans. Percy found a detailed map that showed the upcoming operations.

"This is pure gold," he said, tucking the map into his backpack.

But before they could leave, they were discovered.

The enemies came in waves, each stronger than the last. Percy led the group, his voice firm and clear.

"Nico, cover the rear! Clarisse, with me on the front line! Annabeth, Artemis, provide support!"

The fighting was fierce. Percy fought like a storm, his combat experience being put to the test. Artemis was impressive, moving like lightning, her arrows finding their targets with deadly accuracy.

Talia covered Percy, her skills as a Huntress complementing her own strength.

"I didn't know you were so bossy," she commented as she took down an enemy.

"Just do as I say, Grace!" Percy replied, smiling despite the intensity of the battle.

After a long and exhausting fight, the group managed to escape, leaving behind a ruined fortress and defeated enemies.

Back on Olympus, Percy presented the information to the Council, explaining the next steps needed to contain the threat.

Zeus looked at him with approval, something rare to see.

"You have proven yourself once again, Percy Jackson."

Artemis approached, placing a hand on Percy's shoulder.

"It was a successful mission, thanks to your leadership."

Percy simply nodded, knowing that this was just the first step of something much bigger. The threat was not over yet, but he was ready for whatever came next.

Chapter 17 – Forbidden Feelings

Artemis sat on the edge of a cliff on Mount Olympus, watching the golden horizon as the sun began to set. She enjoyed the solitude, the calm that came when the mortal world seemed far away. However, something disturbed her peace.

It was Percy Jackson.

Since their joint mission, something had changed. She watched him silently, studying his every move. He was not like other men. Percy was disciplined, honorable, and brave, but above all, he was humble. He had faced gods, monsters, and even fate itself, yet he remained loyal and kind.

Artemis shook her head, trying to push those thoughts away.

"He's just a mortal… a demigod," she whispered to herself.

But something inside her knew that Percy was more than that.

At Camp Half-Blood, Percy was busy teaching hand-to-hand combat to a group of younger demigods. He demonstrated movements with precision, his instructions clear and direct.

"Remember, the key is not brute force, but control," he said as he took down a training opponent.

The children watched him in awe. To them, Percy was a living legend, the Hero of Olympus.

From afar, Artemis watched. She had decided to come down to camp to "supervise" her Hunters, but her gaze often strayed to Percy.

"Are you spying on me, Artemis?" Percy asked, smirking when he noticed her presence.

Artemis blushed slightly, but kept her composure.

"Just observing. It seems you are a good teacher."

Percy shrugged, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"I try to do my best. Someone has to prepare this generation for what is to come."

She felt a pang of admiration in her chest. He spoke so seriously, with so much care for the future of others.

"You've changed, Percy," she said, not realizing she'd spoken aloud.

He raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"I've changed?"

"Yes. It's not a bad thing… it's just… you seem more… complete." P

ercy laughed, but it was a gentle laugh. "I guess life does that to us, doesn't it?"

Later, as the Hunters set up camp, Talia noticed that Artemis was strangely thoughtful.

"Is everything okay, my lady?" Talia asked, sitting down next to the goddess.

Artemis sighed, something rare for someone with her poise. "Talia, do you trust Percy?"

The question took Talia by surprise. "Of course I do. He's Percy, after all. He's saved the world more times than I can count."

Artemis hesitated before continuing. "He's… different from other men I've known."

Talia frowned, but then her eyes widened as she realized what Artemis was implying.

"Are you… do you like him?"

Artemis stiffened, a blush rising to her face.

"Don't say such absurd things! I am Artemis, the goddess of the hunt! I have no… feelings like that."

Talia raised her hands in surrender, but she couldn't hide her smile.

"Of course, of course… But if I may say so, Percy is different. He respects women. He respects you. I don't think that's a bad thing to admire."

Artemis didn't respond, but Talia's words stuck in her mind.

That night, Percy was sitting alone by the lake, staring at the moon's reflection on the water. Artemis appeared silently, but he noticed her before she could say anything.

"Artemis," he said, looking over his shoulder. "What brings you here?"

She hesitated before sitting down next to him, something she never did with others.

"I couldn't sleep. What about you?"

"I was thinking. About all this. Being immortal now, teaching the younger ones… Sometimes it feels surreal."

Artemis watched him as he spoke, the moonlight illuminating his face. He was so… different. Not just physically, but in the way he carried the weight of his experiences without complaint.

"Do you feel alone, Percy?" she asked suddenly.

He looked at her, surprised by the question.

"Sometimes, yes. I've lost a lot of people over the years. My mother, my stepfather… Annabeth and I went our separate ways. But I have camp, I have these young demigods… and now I have you and your Hunters."

Artemis looked away, feeling something she hadn't felt in millennia: vulnerability.

"You're a different man, Percy."

He laughed softly.

"I've heard that before today."

"I'm not kidding," she said, with a seriousness that made him pause. "You're not like the others."

Percy fell silent, surprised by the intensity in her voice. "Thank you, I guess. But if I can be honest, you're different, too."

She raised an eyebrow, curious. "Different in what way?"

"You're strong, but not just physically. You lead with integrity. I admire that."

Artemis felt her heart beat faster, something she had never experienced before. "Thank you, Percy," she said, her voice softer than usual.

They both stood there in silence, just listening to the sound of the lake and the rustling of the trees. For the first time in a long time, Artemis felt something she couldn't name. Something that made her want to stay by Percy Jackson's side.

Chapter 18 – The Heart of a Goddess

Artemis walked quickly through the marble halls of Olympus, her mind a whirlwind of confusing thoughts. This was something she had never felt before. Feelings. Not just the admiration she normally felt for her Hunters or the balance of nature. This was something different, deeper. More human.

Percy Jackson.

She stopped in front of an ornate door, the carvings depicting scenes of tragic love and forbidden passions. Aphrodite's room was as over-the-top as the goddess of love herself. Taking a deep breath to hide her confusion, Artemis pushed open the door and entered.

Aphrodite, reclining on a chaise longue, looked at the newcomer with a mischievous smile.

"Artemis, what an honor. You rarely visit me. What brings you here, dear sister?"

Artemis clenched her fists, trying to contain her irritation.

"Aphrodite, I need answers. Are you messing with me?" Aphrodite arched an eyebrow, clearly intrigued.

"Messing with you? Sweetheart, I need more details."

"These feelings…" Artemis hesitated, but forced the words out. "I feel something that doesn't match who I am. Something… for Percy Jackson."

Aphrodite straightened, her expression changing to something more serious, though her eyes still shone with curiosity.

"Ah, Percy Jackson. The beloved hero of Olympus. And you… feel something for him?"

Artemis closed her eyes, taking a deep breath before answering.

"It can't be real. It must be you. You must be manipulating this, like you always do with mortals and immortals."

Aphrodite let out a soft laugh, but there was no mockery in her voice.

"Artemis, sweetheart, I know you don't like what I represent, but give me more credit. I don't mess with you or your Hunters. I never have."

"Then why do I feel this way?" — Artemis asked, her voice lower, almost vulnerable.

Aphrodite stood up, approaching the goddess of the hunt.

"Because, Artemis, perhaps you are more like mortals than you admit."

Artemis frowned, but Aphrodite continued.

"Percy is not like other men, is he? He is different, and you see it. Perhaps, by being so honorable, he has broken through that invisible barrier you have built over the centuries."

"That is impossible," Artemis replied, shaking her head. "I am the goddess of the hunt, of purity. I am not vulnerable to these… distractions."

Aphrodite smiled gently.

"Love is not a distraction, Artemis. It is a strength. And I am not saying that you are in love, but perhaps you are opening yourself up to something you have avoided for so long."

Artemis was silent, processing the goddess's words.

"What do you suggest I do?"

"Be honest with yourself." There's no need to rush into these feelings, but don't dismiss them out of fear. Percy is an extraordinary man, and if there's anyone worthy of your attention, it might be him.

After leaving Aphrodite's room, Artemis wandered through the gardens of Olympus. The words of the goddess of love still echoed in her mind. She stopped near a crystal fountain, staring at her own reflection.

"Perhaps you are more like mortals than you admit."

It was an uncomfortable thought, but she couldn't deny that there was something about Percy that challenged everything she believed about men. He wasn't selfish, he wasn't arrogant. He was… kind.

And despite all his training, his ancient wisdom, and his pride, Artemis felt that Percy was someone she could trust.

Later, at camp, Percy was adjusting the practice swords in the arena when he noticed Artemis approaching.

"Artemis? Is something wrong?" — he asked, wiping his hands on his pants.

She hesitated before answering, her usually rigid posture seeming more relaxed.

"I need to talk to you, Percy."

He gestured to a nearby bench, and they both sat down.

"I'm listening."

Artemis took a deep breath.

"Have you ever wondered why I… accepted you as a teacher here?"

Percy frowned, surprised by the question.

"I thought it was because you thought my abilities could help the younger demigods."

She looked at him, her silver eyes shining with intensity.

"Not just because of that. It's because you're different. You're not like the other men I've met."

Percy was silent, processing what she was saying.

"Is that… good?"

"It's rare," she admitted. "And because of that, I've started feeling things I shouldn't."

Percy raised an eyebrow.

"Feeling things?"

She looked away, but answered honestly, "Admiration, respect... maybe something more."

The silence between them was heavy, but not uncomfortable.

Percy finally smiled softly. "I don't know what to say, Artemis. But whatever it is, I'm honored."

She looked at him again, her eyes locking with his. "I just needed to be honest. I don't know where this will lead, but I needed you to know."

Percy nodded. "Thank you for trusting me."

As Artemis stood and started to walk away, Percy called out,

"Artemis."

She stopped and looked over her shoulder.

"Yes?"

"You don't need to know all the answers right now. Sometimes things just need to take their course."

Artemis smiled slightly, a rare moment of softness on her face.

"Maybe you're right, Percy. Maybe you're right."
