The Land of Eldoria : The Legend of The Seven

Chapter 3: Eternal Flame

Astraea managed to take down several soldiers without using even a fraction of her power. However, she was still fighting in the enemy's stronghold, and the soldiers kept coming without end.

Seeing that she only had three daggers left, she decided to throw a smoke bomb near herself and escape.

She headed to a nearby bar, the place Jake had promised to take Calantha. However, Astraea was unaware of the truth—that Jake had been captured and Calantha had vanished without a trace.

That night, she had to wait for hours for Jake to arrive. She grew increasingly anxious as there was no sign of him.

Three Enforcers entered the bar, not to investigate but to unwind after a long day of work. Sitting in the corner, Astraea quickly pulled up her hoodie and tried to stay calm.

She couldn't stay there much longer—whether she liked it or not, she had to leave before anyone noticed her.

"Hey, are you alone?" a brown-haired man suddenly asked, holding a bottle of beer.

"Yeah, but I have to go now," Astraea replied, rising from her seat.

The man grabbed Astraea's arm roughly and said, "Going where? No need to rush like that."

"Let go of me!" Astraea demanded.

"And what if I don't?" The drunken man tightened his grip.

"I said, let go!" Astraea used her other hand to push him away. Unintentionally, she released a bit of her power, sending the man crashing into the wall.

The incident immediately caught the attention of everyone in the bar, including the Enforcers who had been enjoying their time off. Astraea and the three Enforcers locked eyes.

"THERE SHE IS!" one of the Enforcers shouted.

Two of them drew their swords and rushed toward Astraea. Spotting a back door not far from her, she sprinted towards it.

Just as she reached for the door, someone caught her.

"Let me go!" Astraea struggled.

"You don't seem to be from around here," said a large, bald man.

"Please, let me go. I don't want to hurt you or anyone here," Astraea pleaded, growing more frantic as the Enforcers closed in.

"You can't hurt me, little girl. Seems like you've done something bad if the Enforcers are after you."

Ignoring his words, Astraea acted without hesitation—her entire arm ignited in flames, forcing the man to release her.

"What the hell are you?" he asked, shocked.

Astraea turned to him, her pupils now glowing a fiery red. The man grabbed a nearby axe, preparing to attack, but Astraea was faster.

She struck first, then took on all three Enforcers at once before making her escape.

Suddenly, a loud warning trumpet blared from the direction of the palace. Dozens of soldiers were deployed to capture her.

Astraea ran through the moonlit night, her breath ragged, her hair streaming behind her. She passed rows of houses made of sturdy stone, their stained-glass windows gleaming under the moonlight. She paid no attention to their beauty—her only focus was survival.

She ran as fast as she could, her strides quick and steady. Behind her, she could hear the heavy footsteps of the Everian soldiers pursuing her.

She didn't dare look back, afraid of what she might see. Her eyes remained locked on the path ahead, hoping to reach the kingdom's outer gate before they caught her.

She had to use her powers multiple times to slow them down.

Her heart pounded in her chest, her breath came in gasps. Sweat trickled down her face, dampening her hair, but she didn't stop. She ran with everything she had.

At last, she saw the kingdom's exit gate ahead. She pushed herself harder, desperate to reach it before the soldiers did. She had no idea what awaited her beyond the walls, but she knew one thing—she had to keep running to stay alive.

But just before she could reach it, the gate slammed shut. Her efforts to escape had been in vain. She had exhausted herself after running so far. Now, she had no choice but to stand and face her enemies alone.

She took a deep breath, bracing herself for the inevitable battle.

"I wasn't running because I was afraid," she muttered to herself. "I just didn't want to cause chaos here. But if this is what they want… then I'll make sure this kingdom burns bright tonight."

Dozens of soldiers stood before her, fully armored and armed with spears, swords, shields, and bows. But Astraea wasn't intimidated in the slightest.

She stood tall near the gate, flames flickering within her, ready to be unleashed. The soldiers lined up before her, their weapons gleaming under the moonlight.

"You really think you can defeat all of us?" one of the soldiers sneered.

Astraea didn't respond. She only smiled as the flames within her surged. Raising her right hand, she let the fire burst forth.

"Eternal flame, I call upon you!" she shouted. A massive blaze erupted from her body.

The firestorm engulfed the soldiers, sending them scrambling for safety. Astraea charged forward, her flames continuing to rage. She dodged arrows effortlessly and retaliated with bursts of fire.

She struck down soldier after soldier, leaving them incapacitated.

After what felt like an eternity of battle, the fire within her finally began to subside. The remaining soldiers fled in terror, leaving Astraea standing alone.

She smirked. The fire had died down, but her victory was undeniable. No one could stop her now.

"Well, that was impressive," a woman's voice said.

Astraea turned her gaze to the rooftop of a tall house. A red-haired woman stood there, having watched the entire scene unfold.

She leaped down effortlessly, landing without a hint of pain. She was Kali—the Queen of Everia.
