The Heavenly Demon Wants a Quiet Life

Chapter 20 - Stop Messing Around

Chapter 20: Stop Messing Around

────────────────────────────────────

As soon as Byeok Taesan stepped into the training hall, the scene that greeted him was Cheon Kyungwan and Yoo Seoyeon facing each other with their swords drawn, standing a slight distance apart.

Both of them were covered in blood from head to toe.

Seeing this, Byeok Taesan nodded his head.

“At least you didn’t fool around.”

To be honest, he wasn’t entirely sure if Cheon Kyungwan would actually bring his sword to Yoo Seoyeon’s body.

How could a man cut down the woman he loved with a blade?

However, judging by how things were unfolding, it seemed that the two were slashing at each other without hesitation.

If Yoo Seoyeon’s body hadn’t shown any sword marks, Taesan had already decided to reconsider keeping Cheon Kyungwan by his side.

“Well, I don’t need to do that now.”

As Byeok Taesan observed, the two charged at each other.

Cha-cha-cha-chang!

Their swords collided, spitting out countless sparks.

Cheon Kyungwan’s sword pierced toward Yoo Seoyeon’s thigh.

Clang!

Yoo Seoyeon deflected the strike and used the rebound to aim for Cheon Kyungwan’s neck.

Clang!

Although he twisted his neck to avoid it, the blade still grazed him.

A spurt of blood splattered into the air.

Cheon Kyungwan, unfazed by his wound, lunged at Yoo Seoyeon again.

Clang-clang-clang-clang!

Cheon Kyungwan clearly had the upper hand in terms of strength and inner power. He pressured her relentlessly, forcing Yoo Seoyeon to retreat.

Yoo Seoyeon skillfully parried and deflected Cheon Kyungwan’s attacks.

If not for her flexibility, the fight would have ended in disaster long ago.

That’s how fierce and overwhelming Cheon Kyungwan’s assault was.

Even so, Yoo Seoyeon’s eyes gleamed sharply as she calmly blocked and redirected his blows.

The impacts on her body continued to pile up, but she gritted her teeth and endured, waiting.

There would surely come a moment when his strength would wane.

That moment arrived soon enough.

Yoo Seoyeon twisted her body and darted into Cheon Kyungwan’s guard.

With that, she thrust her sword.

It was as if the blade sliced cleanly out through his side.

Thunk!

Bam!

Yoo Seoyeon’s sword pierced through Cheon Kyungwan’s side.

At the same time, Cheon Kyungwan’s palm struck Yoo Seoyeon’s shoulder with force.

Yoo Seoyeon was sent flying sideways as if she had been hit by a boulder.

Despite the blood streaming from his side, Cheon Kyungwan immediately pursued the airborne Yoo Seoyeon.

Clang-clang-clang-clang!

The two exchanged a flurry of sword strikes once again.

With each clash, their bodies accumulated more and more injuries, and their movements grew visibly sluggish.

Eventually, the duel came to an end, and the two collapsed onto the floor of the training hall, sprawled out in exhaustion.

Four subordinate physicians under the Heavenly Divine Healer, who had been waiting nearby, rushed forward to begin treating them.

The Heavenly Divine Healer leisurely observed them, stepping in only when his direct intervention was needed.

Once the treatment concluded, the Heavenly Divine Healer grinned and pulled out a container of Golden Wound Medicine from his robes.

“Alright, time to apply the Golden Wound Medicine.”

At his words, Cheon Kyungwan and Yoo Seoyeon both flinched and shuddered.

“It might sting a bit, but wouldn’t that be better than leaving scars? Not to mention, this is an incredibly expensive medicine. And I’ll use it generously, too.”

The Heavenly Divine Healer scooped up a handful of Golden Wound Medicine with his hand.

Seeing this, Cheon Kyungwan and Yoo Seoyeon’s faces turned pale.

“See? I’m providing this generously without holding back. You should be grateful to me for it. Of course.”

The expression on the Heavenly Divine Healer’s face as he slowly approached the two had an unmistakable glint of amusement.

“You’re having fun, aren’t you?”

A sudden voice from the side caused the Heavenly Divine Healer to stop in his tracks, trembling as if struck by lightning.

He turned his head slowly to look to the side.

Byeok Taesan was standing right there. He hadn’t even noticed when Taesan had approached.

Cheon Kyungwan and Yoo Seoyeon, still lying on the ground, also stared at Taesan in surprise.

“Y-young Master, you’re here?”

Taesan’s gaze fell on the container of Golden Wound Medicine in the Heavenly Divine Healer’s hand.

It was a fairly large jar, filled to the brim.

Even from a distance, the pungent smell made it clear what it was.

“Why are you here? I heard you wouldn’t be coming out for a while….”

The corners of Byeok Taesan’s mouth lifted slightly.

“Why? Do you feel bad that I showed up early?”

“N-no! How could that be! I’ve been eagerly awaiting the Young Master’s return every single day.”

“Alright, then just focus on treating them. Weren’t you about to apply that medicine?”

Under the piercing gaze that seemed to see right through him, the Heavenly Divine Healer broke out in a cold sweat.

“Ah, of course.”

With trembling hands, the Heavenly Divine Healer approached Cheon Kyungwan first and began slathering the Golden Wound Medicine onto his wounds.

“Arghhh!”

Each time the medicine touched his injuries, Cheon Kyungwan’s entire body quaked as he gritted his teeth in agony.

Watching from the side, Yoo Seoyeon’s eyes trembled violently.

She appreciated growing stronger and gaining real combat experience, but this post-battle treatment was something she just couldn’t get used to, no matter how many times she endured it.

These days, even seeing something that resembled Golden Wound Medicine would make her instinctively flinch.

Byeok Taesan stood nearby, silently observing the scene.

Finally, Cheon Kyungwan’s treatment was complete, and his wounds were thickly coated in the medicine.

Next was Yoo Seoyeon’s turn.

As the Heavenly Divine Healer liberally applied the medicine to her injuries, she had to spread it evenly over her wounds herself.

This made the pain even more excruciating.

Throughout the treatment, Byeok Taesan continued watching quietly without intervening.

The Heavenly Divine Healer secretly let out a sigh of relief.

“This Golden Wound Medicine is quite good.”

“Oh, are you referring to this? This Golden Wound Medicine took me ten years to develop. It stings a bit, but its effects are remarkable. Those wounds will be completely healed by tonight.”

“You made it?”

Taesan’s tone carried a hint of amusement as he spoke.

The Heavenly Divine Healer cautiously glanced at Taesan, then replied.

“Y-yes? It’s my medicine, after all. It took me ten whole years to create it.”

“In just ten years, you managed to produce such a miraculous medicine? Impressive. Normally, one would improve upon a recipe handed down by a master or teacher.”

The Heavenly Divine Healer flinched in surprise.

“Ah, t-that’s…! N-no, no. I made it. Who else but me could create something like this?”

Byeok Taesan chuckled softly.

“Sure, let’s go with that. It’s not important anyway.”

The Heavenly Divine Healer opened his mouth to defend himself, but when he met Taesan’s gaze, he promptly shut it.

For some reason, it felt chilly.

No, it felt icy cold.

“With medicines like these, the combination of ingredients is incredibly important, isn’t it?”

The Heavenly Divine Healer’s eyes sparkled.

Whenever a topic he was knowledgeable about came up, he always had plenty to say.

“Of course. Even if the ingredients are the same, the effects can vary greatly depending on the combination. It’s not just the ratio of ingredients that’s important; the order of combining them is equally critical. Get the order wrong, and you could end up with a completely different medicine.”

As it seemed like the explanation was going to go on endlessly, Byeok Taesan subtly raised his hand.

The Heavenly Divine Healer immediately closed his mouth. Then, sensing something unusual, he cautiously observed the situation.

Byeok Taesan didn’t even glance at the Heavenly Divine Healer.

Instead, his gaze shifted to Cheon Kyungwan and Yoo Seoyeon.

“It’s a good medicine, so bear with the pain. You’ll feel better soon enough.”

“Feel better?”

Yoo Seoyeon widened her eyes and asked.

“It’s not just a medicine to heal wounds. It fundamentally strengthens and toughens your skin, muscles, and bones.”

The two stared at Byeok Taesan and the Heavenly Divine Healer with astonished eyes.

They had no idea the medicine was that effective.

And they weren’t the only ones surprised. Even the Heavenly Divine Healer’s face showed a look of astonishment.

“That’s right. That’s why it contains so many expensive ingredients. But how on earth did you know that?”

“The smell made it obvious.”

“Excuse me? The smell?”

The Heavenly Divine Healer stared at Byeok Taesan with a baffled expression. Then, with a look of disbelief, he turned to Cheon Kyungwan and Yoo Seoyeon.

‘What the hell? Do they actually believe that?’

Cheon Kyungwan and Yoo Seoyeon seemed to fully trust Byeok Taesan’s words without question.

Though it was absurd, the Heavenly Divine Healer decided to let it go.

Prolonging the discussion here wouldn’t lead to anything productive.

Suddenly, Cheon Kyungwan’s eyes gleamed, and he shot to his feet, clasping his fists together in respect.

“I didn’t realize it was such a precious medicine. I’ve complained about the Healer a lot in my heart, and for that, I sincerely apologize. And I thank you.”

Yoo Seoyeon also stood up, clasping her fists to express her gratitude.

“I’m grateful as well. From now on, I’ll use it with a heart full of appreciation.”

Byeok Taesan chuckled faintly.

“Aren’t you thanking the wrong person? That medicine was made with my money, wasn’t it?”

The Heavenly Divine Healer, sensing the shift in mood, quickly chimed in.

“Y-yes, that’s right! From now on, you should both direct your gratitude to the Young Master.”

Byeok Taesan lightly patted Cheon Kyungwan and Yoo Seoyeon on the shoulders.

“You really should be grateful.”

After saying that, he gestured toward the Heavenly Divine Healer with his chin.

“You, come with me.”

“Excuse me? Me? Why…?”

When Byeok Taesan shot him a glare filled with killing intent, the Heavenly Divine Healer flinched and quickly followed behind him.

His body trembled with unease.

For some reason, his back looked like that of an ox being led to the slaughterhouse.

The Heavenly Divine Healer stood tense, staring at Byeok Taesan with an anxious expression.

Byeok Taesan, however, simply gazed at him with a calm demeanor.

While the Heavenly Divine Healer squirmed, unsure of what to do, Byeok Taesan casually spoke.

“Cut the nonsense. Two weeks should be enough.”

“E-excuse me? Nonsense? What are you talking about…?”

Byeok Taesan’s gaze turned sharp and cold.

“If you make them more sensitive to pain instead of helping them get used to it, how will they ever fight properly?”

“So, you’re saying… not to use the wound medicine…?”

“Change the formula. I’m telling you not to inflict unnecessary pain on them just to amuse yourself.”

The Heavenly Divine Healer’s eyes widened to the point it seemed impossible for them to open any further.

“H-how did you even…!”

“You haven’t been pulling any other nonsense over the past two weeks, have you?”

“N-no, absolutely not! Aside from this, I haven’t done anything else!”

The Heavenly Divine Healer stammered loudly, trembling as he spoke.

He was dying to know what kind of person Byeok Taesan truly was. Yet, at the same time, he feared finding out.

Something told him that digging deeper would trap him in an inescapable pit.

“I’ll trust you just this once. Think of it as your last chance.”

“I’ll… I’ll keep that in mind.”

As the Heavenly Divine Healer stood frozen with fear, Byeok Taesan asked,

“What about the task I assigned to you?”

“I-I’m working on it. I’ve been gathering every piece of information around the Golden Wall Merchants, leaving no detail unchecked. I believe results will come soon.”

The Heavenly Divine Healer hesitated for a moment before speaking again.

“But, Young Master… How is your body… holding up?”

Byeok Taesan smirked faintly.

Though the tone was filled with concern, the underlying intentions were as clear as day.

This was the perfect moment to crush any unnecessary doubts.

Byeok Taesan extended his hand.

“Go ahead.”

“Excuse me?”

“Take my pulse.”

“W-well then… Pardon me for a moment.”

The Heavenly Divine Healer swallowed hard and carefully grabbed Byeok Taesan’s wrist to check his pulse.

His serious expression began to shift as he examined the condition.

Soon, shock overtook his face.

“It’s improved quite a bit, hasn’t it?”

The Heavenly Divine Healer stared blankly at Byeok Taesan.

“How… How is this even possible? To repair severed meridians to this extent in just two weeks…!”

“Do I seem more like a living person now?”

Two weeks ago, it was hard to tell if he was human or some kind of walking corpse. But now, it was clear.

Though he still looked fragile, he was undeniably alive.

Unable to stop himself, the Heavenly Divine Healer asked,

“How… How on earth did you recover like this?”

When Byeok Taesan heard the question, he suddenly grew curious.

“Good question.”

How indeed?

He was certain his spirit had been shredded to pieces, leaving him dead.
