Chapter 11: The Dread of Little Li's Flying Dagger
In the previous chapter, the table of contents, and the next chapter, here we go.
Well, this time it wasn't just the approval of the Third Hokage. All the Shinobi gathered knew why the Third Hokage valued this six-year-old child so much.
There's no other reason—he's simply a genius. It's not just his keen insights into his opponents, but more importantly, his rapid switching between simple ninja techniques. Using just two basic Transformation Techniques, he defeated a Chunin from the Uchiha clan who had already awakened his Sharingan.
The Jonin present had only one thought: this child has limitless potential. Of course, this is contingent upon him staying alive. There are too many geniuses in the world, but many brilliant stars fade away in an instant.
The show had ended, and the rest of the members faded away as black shadows, leaving the training ground. However, there was still a certain individual who was quite troublesome for Kudo Ryouban, who was fixated on him with an inquiring gaze.
Well, this Uncle Snake is no longer just the nominal disciple of the Third Hokage. He made a name for himself during the Second Shinobi War when he fought alongside the remaining two. He has now become a well-known figure throughout the Shinobi world.
Unfortunately, Kudo Ryouban felt quite uneasy. I mean, who could remain calm under the attentive gaze of Uncle Snake?
Fortunately, Uncle Snake hadn't made any moves against the village's people yet. Otherwise, Kudo Ryouban would certainly be among Uncle Snake's favorite experimental subjects.
As a mere six-year-old child in an age when he idolized heroic figures, Kudo Ryouban began to act sincerely, stuttering, "Y-You are the legendary Sannin, Lord Orochimaru, aren't you?"
That kind of starry-eyed fan expression even led Orochimaru to nod slightly—"Not a bad little seed, what a shame." A rather vague statement, which left Kudo Ryouban a bit bewildered.
Just as Kudo Ryouban was about to ask what this meant, Orochimaru merely turned his back. At that moment, the Third Hokage smiled: "Little Ryouban, you've given us a wonderful surprise today; this is your headband."
This was the headband personally given by the Third Hokage, and Ryouban was immensely excited to receive it. This wasn't just acting; it was genuine emotion. To be able to become a Chunin at six in the world of Naruto is no small feat.
The Third Hokage noticed Ryouban's excited expression: "You only have one life. You don't need to force yourself to choose a path you dislike. You should live according to your preferences; whether you live or die doesn't matter, but… you must never forget to protect the people you cherish the most, regardless of the path you choose."
This was rather puzzling—a statement that didn't make much sense, yet Kudo Ryouban nodded in understanding. Then the Third Hokage's next words left him feeling utterly hopeless: "Starting tomorrow, I will carve out an hour each day to conduct special training for you. You won't be allowed to accept missions until you meet my standards."
Well, although Ryouban was quite reluctant inside, to be fair, his current skill in using ninjutsu was close to beginner's level. If he continued on this path, he would probably meet his end soon.
Before Ryouban could respond, the Third Hokage and two accompanying Anbu ninjas left. At this moment, Ryouban was immersed in the system's prompts and couldn't extricate himself.
"Ding! Mission completed successfully. Reward distribution is underway…" With the mechanical voice echoing, insights from Li Xunhuan about the Little Li Flying Dagger began to merge into Ryouban's mind.
Looking down at the six unexpectedly appearing daggers, each about three inches long and exuding an air of chilling intimidation. "Is this really the legendary Little Li Flying Dagger?" Ryouban muttered to himself, lost in some memories.
The Little Li Flying Dagger differed from other hidden weapons; it was a weapon that could be used openly. When deployed, it would hit without exception!
A whole half hour passed, and Ryouban truly grasped the basics of the Little Li Flying Dagger. Of course, the most important thing was to practice and integrate his skills.
Raising his head, he noticed it was almost lunchtime. Ryouban hurriedly donned his headband and ran towards home. Unfortunately, some people were intent on dampening his spirit.
At the end of a small path, three individuals dressed in the Uchiha clan's signature fan garments blocked Ryouban's way.
"Oh, isn't this the currently popular Kudo Ryouban from the entire Konoha Village?" one young Uchiha sneered at Ryouban.
"What's the matter? You want to pass here? Fine, crawl under my legs obediently, or you won't be going home today!" Another guy in his twenties chimed in, disregarding Ryouban's feelings.
Ryouban felt helpless. Though he chose to step on the Uchiha clan this time, he had no regrets. Honestly, what was left of the Uchiha clan?
Apart from reminiscing about the glorious past of their predecessors, were there any real experts left? Ryouban smiled childishly and replied, "Isn't it true that if I defeat you, the Uchiha clan wouldn't even dare to punish me? I'm so scared!"
"It's a pity, but I'm afraid that if I throw this knife, one of you might never make it back home!" Although Ryouban's face was still immature, when he said this, the three opponents felt a chill, as if a cold wind had swept over them.
As he spoke, Ryouban drew a Little Li Flying Dagger from his ninja tool pouch. With his delicate right hand gripping the hilt, the blade pointed straight at the one in the middle.
A "presence" usually only felt from some of the clan's top Jonin radiated from Ryouban. Uchiha Zou felt a sense of extreme danger emanating from the tip of the dagger held by the small boy before him.
If he were to throw that dagger, he might face mortal peril. This is what Uchiha Zou thought at that moment.
As an ordinary Chunin, facing a child who had just been a mere prankster in the academy a few days ago, Uchiha Zou hesitated. This was no longer just about face; it concerned his very life.
He grabbed his two companions, who were still eager to taunt, pulling them back to allow Ryouban a path. The three moved aside, letting the little rascal walk past them.
The two companions beside him looked at him in confusion. Uchiha Zou understood that this matter must be reported to their clan. This child was not just any ordinary prodigy; he was on a whole different level!
