The God of Ice and Fire at Hogwarts

Chapter 141: It’s a Horcrux, right?

Looking at Lynn's red eyes and the blood that hadn't fully formed on his skin, Professor McGonagall remained silent.

After a long pause, she nodded gently and said, "I'll call Dumbledore."

Professor McGonagall left, and Lynn sat exhausted, leaning against Irina's bed, panting.

Currently, Irina and Ginny were being treated by Madame Pomfrey, while Lynn had temporarily refused treatment, holding onto his heavy body and waiting for Dumbledore's arrival.

As time passed, the adrenaline that had surged due to emotional excitement gradually began to fade, and the pain from Lynn's injuries, which he had been ignoring, grew stronger like a rising tide.

Lynn felt his eyelids growing heavier, and just as he was about to close his eyes, the door to the school hospital opened once again.

Dumbledore, with Phoenix Fawkes on his shoulder, slowly walked toward Lynn, with Professor McGonagall following behind.

"Lynn..."

Dumbledore murmured, not expecting that Lynn, who had always been cautious about his life, would be so bold as to break into the secret chamber with Irina and even kill the basilisk.

As Lynn had guessed, Dumbledore had indeed not left Hogwarts. During this time, he had stayed in Hogsmeade Village, which was closer to Hogwarts Castle. This allowed him to move swiftly between the castle and the village.

Therefore, after Professor McGonagall used an owl to contact Dumbledore, Dumbledore asked Fawkes to take him back to the castle as quickly as possible.

As the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Dumbledore had already learned about Lynn, Irina, and Ginny's injuries when he returned to the castle and had considered the recent incidents involving the attack and the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets. It wasn't hard for him to guess what Lynn and the others had done that night.

"Minerva, could you please inform the other professors who are patrolling and ask them to wait for me in the Headmaster's office?"

Dumbledore looked at Professor McGonagall beside him and said quietly.

Professor McGonagall nodded. She had great trust in Dumbledore and didn't question his reasoning. She turned and left.

After Professor McGonagall left, only Lynn and Dumbledore remained, aside from the unconscious Irina.

Madame Pomfrey had already gone to prepare a healing potion, and Ginny had been placed on a bed across the hospital wing and couldn't be heard from there.

"Can you tell me what happened tonight, Lynn?"

Dumbledore looked at Lynn gently, and there seemed to be a flicker in his blue eyes.

Lynn nodded and recounted everything that had happened today, including how they "borrowed" the Sorting Hat, obtained Harry's Parseltongue as a key, and then entered the Chamber of Secrets to kill the basilisk. Afterward, they were attacked by Riddle, and ultimately, they succeeded in killing the basilisk and destroying the diary. Lynn told Dumbledore all of this after briefly resolving the situation.

Dumbledore reflected after hearing Lynn's story.

After a while, Dumbledore quietly asked, "Lynn, I see that you and Irina don't seem to be using those alchemical glasses that can resist the basilisk's gaze. How are you immune to the basilisk's magic?"

At this, Lynn chuckled softly and said, "The alchemical glasses are too conspicuous. Without bringing the brain behind the scenes to the surface, we can only win by adopting some deceptive means without drawing attention from the brain behind the scenes... But unfortunately, the person behind this still noticed us."

As he spoke, Lynn raised his hand, and the contact lenses in his eyes were absorbed by a magical force, leaving two small lenses lying silently in the palm of his hand.

"Ah, presenting alchemical lenses in such a hidden form? What a brilliant idea..."

After seeing the contact lenses in Lynn's hand, Dumbledore couldn't help but exclaim. He lightly touched the two small lenses and praised them.

Lynn said, "The professor is too kind. These contact lenses were invented by Muggles fifty years ago. I simply borrowed their idea."

Dumbledore nodded slightly and said, "I'm very glad that you've embraced things from Muggles instead of being blinded by pureblood ideals."

At that moment, Dumbledore noticed the severe injuries on Lynn's body and said, "You're injured as well, Lynn. I'll call Poppy to treat you."

"Wait," Lynn stopped him and looked at Dumbledore seriously, "Professor Dumbledore, what do you think that diary of Voldemort's is?"

Dumbledore thought deeply again. He actually had a hypothesis in mind, but he wasn't sure.

"Perhaps... it's a product of dark magic that we don't know about. Remember, we cannot trust magical items that have minds of their own, except, of course, the Sorting Hat."

Dumbledore said this.

Upon hearing this, Lynn chuckled softly and asked, "It's a Horcrux, right?"

Lynn asked with a tone full of determination.

Although Lynn had no reason to know about Horcruxes, he no longer wanted to be shy about it. If Dumbledore could be informed about this information ahead of time, many unnecessary sacrifices could be avoided in the future.

After hearing Lynn's words, Dumbledore, who had originally planned to turn around and look for Madame Pomfrey, froze in place.

He looked at Lynn again, a little surprised, "Why would you..."

Before he could finish speaking, Lynn interrupted and continued, "I believe my father's death that year may also be related to Voldemort's Horcrux."

Dumbledore stood frozen in place.

Was Hendry's death also related to Voldemort's Horcrux?!

Remembering the boy from Slytherin who had a cheerful temperament, Dumbledore couldn't help but become somewhat distracted.

Hendry had been killed by Voldemort for unknown reasons, and the last message he sent to the Order of the Phoenix before his death had something to do with his outing with Regulus Black.

"Regulus Black found me and wanted to take me to a place where weapons capable of defeating Voldemort were kept..."

This was all Hendry had left before his death. Dumbledore had also thought about the so-called "weapon capable of defeating Voldemort" for a long time but had found no answer.

But now, Lynn had destroyed the diary that was Voldemort's Horcrux and suggested that Hendry's death was related to the Horcrux, which made Dumbledore connect the so-called weapon with the Horcrux.
