THE ECLIPSE LEGACY

Chapter 13: UNIQUE GIFT: A BLESSING OR A CURSED

The system manifests through Ian's Eclipse Imprint, not as floating text, but as direct knowledge transmission into his mind.

By channeling Eclipse Essence, the Imprint glows faintly, unlocking information and abilities.

Official Eclipse Rank remains unregistered until verified by the Eclipse Association.

[STATUS OVERVIEW]

Gift: Chrono-Resonance (Unique)

Ability to rewind the condition of non-living objects.

Skills:

Haste (Lv.1): Briefly accelerates movement and reaction speed.Basic Swordsmanship (Lv.1): Improves precision and control over bladed weapons.

Reflecting on his Gift's description, Ian mused, "While Chrono-Resonance saved my life, it's not exactly a combat powerhouse. It seems more suited for craftsmanship than battle."

The newly acquired skills offered a glimmer of hope. "With dedication, honing these abilities could elevate me among the top Eclipses," he thought.

However, he was acutely aware of the challenges faced by those with non-combat Gifts. "Blacksmiths earn respect in their forges, but in dungeons, they're often marginalized," Ian recalled.

Contemplating his path, Ian considered, "Perhaps I should embrace blacksmithing. My Gift would be invaluable there." This dual approach could fund his ambitions, as the journey of a newly awakened Eclipse demands significant resources—for licenses and quality gear essential for survival.

Turning his attention back to the status window, Ian examined the recent loot:

[DROPPED ITEMS] (From Abyssal Devourer)

[Abyss-Touched Core] (Advanced): A pulsating dark crystal containing abyssal energy. [Unidentified Effect. Further study required.]

[Devourer's Fangs] (Intermediate): Jagged fangs imbued with corrosive properties. [Can be reforged into a weapon.]

[Shattered Eclipse Remnant] (???): A fragmented piece of something ancient.

The sight of these items brought a sense of accomplishment. "Selling the Abyss-Touched Core alone could cover my registration fees," Ian noted with satisfaction.

With a clearer sense of direction, Ian resolved to navigate the dual paths of a blacksmith and a combatant, leveraging his unique abilities to carve out his place among the Eclipses.

As the first light of dawn crept into his room, Ian Maverick sat cross-legged on the floor, his weapon resting before him. Determined to understand the full extent of his Chrono-Resonance Gift, he embarked on a series of experiments to explore its capabilities and limitations.

From this experiment, Ian has discovered the basic and crucial information about his gift ability.

Ian began by inflicting minor damage on his weapon, deliberately chipping the blade's edge. Focusing intently, he channeled his energy, and his arm's imprint emitted a soft glow. Before his eyes, the blade's edge smoothed and restored itself to perfection.

Encouraged, he proceeded to create more significant damage: bending the blade, scratching its surface, and even breaking it into several pieces. Each time, he concentrated, and the weapon reassembled seamlessly, as if time itself had reversed its wear and tear.

However, when he shattered the weapon into multiple fragments and attempted restoration, only the primary piece responded, while the remaining fragments disintegrated into dust. This observation led Ian to conclude that his ability could restore a weapon from its main component, but any additional pieces would be lost, preventing duplication or mass production.

Seeking to further understand his Gift's boundaries, Ian ventured into his basement, a space cluttered with relics from his family's past. There, he discovered a heavily corroded fragment of metal, its original form unrecognizable.

Despite his best efforts, focusing his energy yielded no results, the fragment remained unchanged. Ian realized that without a clear mental image or understanding of the object's original state, his ability couldn't facilitate restoration. This explained why he could effortlessly repair weapons with familiar designs but was powerless with indeterminate fragments.

Through these trials, Ian discerned critical aspects of his Chrono-Resonance Gift which were the restoration limitation. His power could mend a weapon from its primary piece, but any additional fragments would disintegrate, preventing weapon duplication.

Next was the imagination dependency. A clear understanding or mental image of the object's original form was essential for successful restoration.

Armed with this knowledge, Ian felt more prepared to harness his abilities effectively, aware of both their potential and their constraints.
