THE ECLIPSE LEGACY

Nearly two decades after the catastrophe descended upon Earth, all societal norms have been completely upended.

Before the disaster, your parents might have been proud that you managed to join a government agency. If you became a doctor, they would likely have told everyone about your achievement. Teenagers might have aspired to fun careers like being an athlete or an internet celebrity. But now, those professions have become secondary, if not tertiary. The dream jobs have been reshaped by the aftermath of the catastrophe.

For context, the catastrophe didn't just arrive uninvited, it brought along some truly hateful companions.

In the beginning, the changes were minor. The only noticeable difference was the climate, which had shifted slightly. The world simply assumed it was another case of abnormal weather conditions. However, after a week, the situation worsened. Regular rains became corrosive enough to cause major damage. Storms, accompanied by lightning, ravaged unfortunate areas. Numerous other bizarre disasters, both recorded and unrecorded, spoken of and unsaid, followed.

Just as the world struggled to find solutions to these environmental upheavals, the true horrors made their debut. About a month after the so-called "abnormal" natural disasters, monstrous creatures which were once confined to fantasy novels or video games have finally emerged.

They didn't arrive all at once; instead, they appeared slowly, one after another. They started with weak creatures like goblins, followed by kobolds, and then progressively stronger monsters. It must be said: their appearance was more hideous than any could have imagined. Not only were they terrifying in form, but they were also aggressively territorial.

Human weaponry had little effect on these creatures, barely leaving a dent. This forced world leaders to make a desperate decision which led to the use of nuclear weapons on the monster spawn sites, hoping to halt their advance.

In what could only be seen as a blessing in disguise, just as humanity faced its greatest dilemma, a beacon of hope began to shine. A portion of humanity awakened mysterious abilities, gifts that enabled them to fight back against the monsters. These abilities varied widely as some were incredibly powerful, while others were nearly useless.

From that moment on, those with useful abilities became the new elite, and professions dedicated to combating these creatures emerged. A few years later, these roles became the most sought-after positions with high-risk, but offering high rewards.

The world believes its fate is set, but fate has never been kind to those who seek to control it.

The light has dimmed. The shadow stirs.

A new generation of Eclipse is about to awaken.
